  4. I did it! I'm guilty! No sense lying about it. In spite of some VERY, VERY stern warnings from MrsBgf (and others), I went caching this morning. I just couldn't help myself. I simply had to feed this addiction I have. As I hadn't logged anything in over a month, I was getting the heebie-jeebies pretty bad. Just one, I said to myself. One won't hurt anything. Besides that, it was a ftf opportunity almost in my back yard. So there! I done did the deed! (even got the ftf) The dance wasn't very good though. Thanks everyone for thinking of me during my recent trials.......... bgf

  14. ``It's incredible,'' said 8-year-old, Tan Yizhou, who had the honor of presenting a gold medal to one of the winning pigs. ``I never thought that a pig could be so clever, dexterous and versatile.'' DOOR PRIZE! DOOR PRIZE! ( gold...versatile) Keep the gold. Roast the pig.
  15. Hmmmmmm. Fix the door prize so I'm assured a win, and even I'll show up for that!
  16. My request is sorta pitiful following ND's, but I would like to request two metal, please. bgf

  18. The property in question is a Fish & Wildlife Area. Actually a multiple use property, similiar to state forests in that aspect. However, hunting is the primary use of the property. Revenue from hunting and fishing is the main source of funding for the area. Safety isn't an issue. It's to eliminate possible interference to hunters. Being a hunter myself (more ex-hunter now), I can understand that with the upcoming turkey season. Someone walking through an area will blow the mornings hunt. The biggest complaint from hunters is, and has been, mushroom hunting. However no efforts have ever been taken to control mushroomers. Such as limiting the hours to at least after 12:00. That would be after the prime time for hunting turkey. I've been at the property during peak mushroom time, and you would think it was a Thanksgiving sale at WM. Beginning at daybreak! There wasn't any provisions for time frame restrictions in the new regulations, but if you read it carefully, the individual property manager has the final say in how any cache may or may not be placed on the property he manages. I think we will see a lot of variations in requirements for caches across the state. Especially as the type of property will vary from parks to forest area. I dunno, but it sure seems like a lot of down time. The cache maintainance still would be the same. One is practically maintainance-free, but the other is high-maintainance to keep it as placed. I mailed gc.com to see if they will allow the downtime or not. The caches may be considered as temporary and no longer permitted. I know they do have some sort of guidelines for the length of time a cache can be disabled. It could be worse, as I see other nearby states are even more restrictive, and charge exorbitant fees for a cache placement.
  19. Hey guys, I need some input here. I have a couple of caches on DNR property. I just received the permit denials today. Minor stuff that's no big deal to fix. Some, as simple as changing things on the cache page. (such as stating certain property rules). The kicker is, the caches have to be disabled during ALL hunting seasons. That would be the next three weeks of turkey season. Then the biggy. Aug15 thru Jan1. I figure total downtime five months. Don't know about anyone else, but my caching in northern Indiana in Jan & Feb is almost nothing. So add two more months. Is it worth it to them going? (assuming gc.com will even allow the downtime)
  20. I would like to have a couple of them, please & thanks. The feet on geese are extended post takeoff and prelanding. Even when extended, they don't exceed the length of the tail. During full flight, the feet are retracted into the belly feathers. Link to a couple sample photos. http://www.saskschools.ca/~gregory/animals/cg/cg8.html
