  1. Geocaching Ireland Forum try here as we have a good spread of cachers all over Ireland (North and South) and let us know where and when you will be here and we will try our best to help.
  2. A quick look at your profile and guessing that you cache in much the same area as I do leads to me think I know the caches of which you speak . Try contacting the cache owner who I'm sure will be able to tell you why the caches have been made Premium member only. If it's the member I'm thinking off there is a very good and valid reason for them doing this and was not done just to be "one up" on the non members. They want their caches to be open and available to all but sometimes circumstances make this impossible. Always better to ask the owners first then ask the wider geocaching community . Threats no matter what way they are dressed up don't help and are not welcome here - if someone wants to bait you have the good sence to rise above it and ignore it.
  3. Any coins left? I would gladly place 1 or 2 in Ireland if you want. email sent
  4. A Northern Ireland cacher here who travels up from Stranraer or Carnryan most Friday and Saturday nights to Cumbernauld who could meet for a quick coffe and a chat ( swap TB's and coins ) at Monkton services. If your interested drop me a message.
  5. Possibly the same cache then, it was in your neck of the woods. Perhaps not such a good idea after all. I found some in green today ... Lidl sell them as reusable shopping bags but they are green not black and a bit big. They were in caches by Modejaal, I suppose I could email them !! Some of the ones I found in very wet weather and had been there a fair while and in good nick. Then I can confirm they are made of weed control fabric because I asked them the very same question myself. They cut and sew the fabric to suit the container .Various names such as geotextile, weed control fabric, ground cover material should get you what you are looking for.
  6. I think I know what you are on about . It would be weed control fabric as used ( you guessed correctly) for preventing weeds from growing up through bark, decorative gravel etc. Modejaal caches are (I bet ) where you saw them . Available from all good garden centres . You just need to cut and sew them together to make the shape and size you need.
  7. Totally agree I (and a whole lot of others) would love CacheBerry to get the full api acess and hopefully someday it will. Now don't get me wrong but its a money thing . If you pay for Premium member status you get a certain set of features, different from PM features. If you have an I phone and pay out your cold hard cash for the Geocaching endorsed app then you get a set of features . It seems to me ( just an observation - no cold hard facts and happy to be proven wrong) that the iphone was seen as the trendy new phone that fitted the section of society that geocaching . com wants to attract so the app was developed and was ( up to now) exclusive to the iphone. . Of course when the phone that becomes the iphone killer hits the market place then an app for it will open up a whole new market again and repeat . It's all about money - and thats good business and ultimately at the end of the day GC.com is a business.Somewhere somehow Jeremy has to pay himself and those who work for him. If that dosen't happen then we don't have a hobby.
  8. It's allright - any extra time an iphone user gains by getting the information with less keypresses is spent trying to find the cache with the sub standard gps chip (does it even have one? or is it triangulation from cell towers? -I never could find that out). If those vital few seconds mean so much then it looks as if your going to have to get an iphone. Me - I'll survive with my berry. Remember - it's only a game - don't take it to seriously. It's about finding tupperware in the woods . Try explaining geocaching to a doctor and see the look in their eyes as they comit you to the lunatic assylum. Happy New Year
  9. GC1GCAC - would that be what your looking for?
  10. Well done to all involved with this. Good to see everyone pull together for a great cause. Looks like a trip/holiday to Scotland for a few caches next year then.
  11. Just for your information (everybody not just Loony Londo) Groundspeak treats Ireland (North - the bit the UK looks after and South - the bit with it's own Government ) as one place. I'd say as one who comes from the North - I'm happy enough to be here and thanks for the welcome . Them from the South can (and will ) speak for themselves . Can't see much extra traffic in here though as we have an excellent forum of our own so we shouldn't trouble you all to much. FYI - the above apart from the thankyou is pretty much tounge in cheek - we have pretty much sorted out our problems over here ( well as much as politicians can ) so don't need it thrashing out again. Again thanks for the welcome - now carry on as normal.
  12. Solution - Use the M25 to bypass London, works every time.
  13. CacheBerry 30 Day Free trial try this link . Why not for 30 days and compare the 2 . I'd bet your questions and queries get a much better response over there . Bruce the owner and developer takes his work seriously . I'd go as far as to say you'll thank me later.
  14. I have CacheBerry on my Blackberry . I have instant notification of a new cache . I am able to put that cache on my watchlist so I am updated of each and every log on the cache . I can instantly download the GPX file to my Blackberry and go looking for it . I can log my find from the Blackberry. What more do you need? I doubt that an Iphone user has any advantage over me.
  15. If you provide me with a link to a cache and it seems to fit the bill of what I'm looking for I'll add it to the list. If you have problems with a cache take it up with a reviewer- this is a non angst thread.
  16. Do geocachers with coins and tb's get a discount? http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...d1-10caa435df0e A B & B for over worked TBs only - overlooking the sea Added - next
  17. Try this - Ovi Maps .It may already be on your mobile. Not sure wether you can enter cords on it .
  18. Thanks Mrs B these are the kind of caches that I'm looking for. Anyone else.
  19. A further search of "motels" has been added. Any other suggestions?
  20. Do geocachers with coins and tb's get a discount?
  21. Here is a link to a list of Tb and Coin Hotels in the UK and Ireland and the Isle of Man. I searched for "hotels" and then went through 150 pages of results trying to weed out those relevant to the UK and Ireland . Obviously I may have missed a few here and there if you know of one that I have missed please let me know and I'll add it to the list.
  22. Apart from all the reasons listed above you also have the warm fuzzy feeling of knowing that you got it with out anyone else telling you how to find it. You worked it out all by yourself
