  1. I have subscribed to "FTF Geocacher" for a couple of years now, I really like it. It is a first class magazine, good "how to" articles, good humor articles, great pictures, and all glossy. The folks that put it out are VERY active geocachers.
  2. I have a Garmin 76Cx that I keep for kayaking because it is waterproof and FLOATS!!
  3. Hang on there just a minute. I am about to convert my desktop to Linux, are you all saying I can't do my geocaching.com just like always?? What part of geocaching.com can I NOT do on Linux. Help! I use GSAK some, just learning to use it, I guess that won't work either? Can I do PQ's, and .gpx drag and drop??
  4. Merry Christmas to you also. I was in Scotland last year and loved it. One of the European countries I would like to go back to. Have fun 'caching.
  5. I have a nuvi 255, and I just drag and drop the PQ right into the .gpx file on the nuvi 255. It has always worked so far.
  6. Another "no" to the case question. I did lean over a barb wire fence and scratched the heck out of my zagg screen protector. I am very thankful I had the zagg on the 450!! I use my 450 for biking, hiking, and kayaking, no need for a case, just the screen protector.
  7. I've been stopped by Park Police, City Police, and the Border Patrol. Just be honest and tell them exactly what you are doing. I've been stopped but they were all interested and enjoyed the explanation except the Corps of Engineer Park Police. After powermower and I went to the Park Superintendent I think he will be a little nicer the next time! ha ha. Even if they are jerks just be respectful and back off if you have to, you can handle the situation later with someone with more authority. The Border Patrolman that stopped me took up at least an hour of my "Valuable" time, he really was lonely and wanted to talk, so we talked about everything you can imagine.
  8. My goal is to NEVER EVER try to set some kind of dumb @@@ record of caches in a day, month or year.
  9. Just curious, what replaced mapsource? I didn't even know it was discontinued.
  10. There is a "night cache" attribute. It's a shame more don't use it. It would really help when you do a pocket Query for "night caches".
  11. A gun or knife "COULD" be in there?? But from your post there was NOT a gun nor a knife in there, so you are guessing, and my guess is you are trolling. If you are not, then put it back and mind your own business.
  12. As for the times, I'm just guessing but it sounds like one of them has the wrong time zone setting.
  13. Yep, I'm from Texas also, and I've seen a LOT of poison Ivy around caches. I am very very alergic to it so I have to be real careful not to touch it and take a long hot soapy shower when I get home. I will not let poison ivy stop me from doing anything. I got stung by a scorpion last year, and it made me sick at my stomach and made me have a funny aluminum?? taste in my mouth. Poison Ivy is easy to spot once someone shows you what it can look like, vine, bush, or small tree. Even your clothes can have the oil on it for quite a time if they are not washed in Hot soapy water. I've had a rash from it in the winter when there was snow on the ground.
  14. Go to "setup", "heading", set to "Go To Line/Pointer Bearing (small). This will help with your problem. The 60CSX is a VERY accurate GPSr, you just need to use it to learn it.
  15. I'll trade you a gallon of muffler grease. Okay? I've got two sky hooks left also.
  16. I just can't imagine buying a new Motorola smart phone and complaining about $10.00 for a good app! AND, a premium membership also. Even neongeo is not free but is worth the $4.++ for the app. You get what you pay for.
  17. Man, if everyone was like Ajax One, this would be even a better hobby than it is now. Way to go Ajax One.
  18. I buy mine in "kits". Most hareware stores have "kits" with ten or so different sizes. This is the best way to buy them in my opinion.
  19. Ditto. I tried to run the Wherigo carts on my Oregon, they locked up. Played them on my Motorola Atrix, no problem.
  20. Don't believe ANYTHING you read on the forum. Nothing. Trust me.
  21. Hey!! I have a propeller cap and I resemble that remark!!
  22. Actually, geocaching and bird watching go hand in hand. But, both have to be learned, you don't just walk out in the woods and know every bird you hear or see. Same with geocaching, you just have to work at it and learn it. You'll get it.
