  1. I can not believe some people. I must say that it is very commendable that you are doing this. Me, my wife, and my son are new to geocaching, just a couple months now. One of the things that I like about the activity is that (with possibly a few exceptions) cachers seem to show an AMAZING amount of respect for other cachers. People really seem to go out of their way to assist other cachers. Lets face it, you don't see that every day. (Well maybe I do when I check these forums.) Anyways, good luck cleaning those up and regardless of the outcome, I think your efforts DEFINITELY deserve recognition. CLV3 of Team V3
  2. What part of this do you not understand people? That a restaurant dies not want caching on their premises? Its a decision they made....boycotting them cuz of it is silly in my opinion.
  3. You mention fishing. How about fishing accessories? I would LOVE to find a cache with fishing accessories in it. Not that there is anything wrong with alcohol. However, if you put it in a cache....kids WILL find it. Then you might as well be buying alcohol for minors and I am sure there WOULD be liability issues. Honestly, it would NOT be a very intelligent or responsible decision. sorry for the double post. my connection went for a moment so I did not see that it had posted.

  5. I must say that is a very cool thing you did. I find it very commendable when people do what they can to make less fortunate kids smile.
  6. This would definitely be the LEAST expensive way. Considering the cost of gas is now a big enough expense for me to want to cut all the other costs I can. Besides, we are broke enough as it is.... We have a 3 year old. The horror. michelle Actually he makes me quite proud. At age 3, GPS is in his vocabulary and he even has a few toys that he has adopted as his own personal GPSs. When we are on the hunt he has been known to stop and point and go "That way!" And we have only been caching since April. hehehehe
  7. That would be kind of cool. I would do that since it wouldn't require me to have any extra equipment or put anything at risk. I'd sign a paper logbook... michelle This would definitely be the LEAST expensive way. Considering the cost of gas is now a big enough expense for me to want to cut all the other costs I can. 8. Would it be acceptable to visit a travel bug hotel multiple times to drop off a travel bug or is it wrong to visit it again after you log it as found?
  9. Personally I like the variety of stuff in there. Even if I do not find something to grab, I supposed its cool to just see what people have been leaving behind as it shows the character of the cache, the people who hid it AND the people who have visited. I supposed cleaning it from time to time is not a bad thing but its also cool to see what others are leaving. However, I AM still new and have yet to hide a cache so that opinion may change at some point.

    Geocoin Design

Thank you both for your suggestions/comments. I am downloading and installing GIMP now to check it out. Then its a matter of just playing around and learning to use it I guess. I have some ideas for coins but nothing set in stone yet. There is also inkscape, which is free and nice, I just didn't have the patience to try and learn it! Thank you again. Now, I have been wondering....is there a place where people can go to download simple graphics that they might be able to modify and use? I am not very good at drawing, but I am hoping there are options available to me that I may be able to incorporate into designing a coin.

    Geocoin Design

Greetings. I am new to geocaching and have yet to find any coins or buy any. My wife and I (as well as my 3 year old son) are Team V3 and we would like to design a coin at some point. Is there any software you can download that may help with designing a coin? A special graphics program that may be public domain? I have thought Paint to start but was not sure if there is anything designed specifically for designing geocoins. Thank you for any advice!
  15. Ahhh, the old jedi mind trick eh? Works for most people unless the muggle is Jabba The Hutt.
  16. Wow. I like the look of that coin. Sums up how I feel about religion in general. That there is room for everyone. Personally I would not mind having that coin as a keepsake if I ever found one.
  17. I am sure many of them love having visitors. It must be very boring being dead.
  18. And you are a veteran compared to me. Though I have had an interest for a while, just did not have the money for a GPS til recently.
