  1. Then someone with Geocaching Experience should have advised the CO that they needed to be specific in the description as to what was going on. The fault I feel lies with the CO.
  2. Jellis, How do you know "They Knew this Park and the rules" have you spoke to them personally? how can you make this statement with such certainty?
  3. Why? If they found the cache, published or not, then they get the credit. whoever signs the log first is the FTFer. JMO
  4. I'm by no means a FTF hound (never had a FTF!), not really interested in that part of the game. There does appear to be a bit more to this story though! From looking at the caches you are referring to, these caches were actually published prior to the event (on 2 April), then retracted the same day. The cache pages themselves also do not refer to any event or that they were located in an off-limits part of the park (or that any fee or permit is required). It is possible those who found the cache prior to the event, got notifications and downloaded the cache information prior to the retraction. Unless there is some indication at the park area that it is off-limits or a permit/fee required - then I don't see how you can fault the ones who found it prior to the event. It would appear to be an issue with either the ones who placed the caches for submitting them early or the Reviewer if he was not suppose to publish them until later. I believe there is always 2 sides to a story, and with the postings I have seen from Fizzymagic in the past, regarding FTFs...it's safe to say that he is not a FTF fan in anyway, I think he is slanting the story to make the FTFers look like the bad guys, when they are not if the caches were published before the event by mistake, well I think fingers need to be pointed in a different direction, rather then Hanging the FTFers
  5. Good news indeed, maybe this will encourage more members to switch to a PM membership.
  6. Have you downloading the Communicator program from Garmin?
  7. Yep I use a Mountain Bike but usually only when I'm going on a trail that has quite a few caches that are only accessible by walking or riding.
  8. Well I guess you could say that about all online logs, to know for sure you would need to check all log sheets. Believe me with stat pages if someone claims a FTF when they didn't get it, it would come out fairly quickly by the next finders and they would make it known to the CO.
  9. Exactly, this is what I was trying to say, just said better then I could......... I would like to know how I could have worded this question and better then I did, without raising the torches against me or my question????? but I keep coming to the same conclusion, there is no way without the flaming. The way I see it is there is a core group of people on this forum, that if you ask a question that does not fit into THEIR narrow minded guidelines of what should or shouldn't be asked they gang up on you to belittle, and or strip away any credibility of the question or OP, till you just say oh forget it......I believe they have a word for this it's called bullying.
  10. The issue to me is not whether or not it matters to you; I don't care about that. What puzzles me is why it is so important that to you everyone else knows and admires your stats. The FTF game would be great if people kept track for themselves; it would even be fine if there was a group that competed with each other in a private forum. It's the excessive bragging and taunting about stats in the logs for the caches and main geocaching forum that I find so obnoxious. Actually, let me re-phrase that: the bragging and taunting are obnoxious in cache logs; here in the forums they are mostly embarrassingly pitiable. The OP asked a question, quite frankly the response "who cares" I find ignorant and the comment "Just because others do doesn't mean it matters" I find very self centered. Some people are very competitive and that should be OK and just because you or others do not care about something I find putting those that do down obnoxious. What puzzles me is the need to reply to someones question with "who cares"! While the OP has every right to start threads like this one (barring word from Groundspeak to the contrary), the reaction you are seeing is not so much because of the obvious question, but because those of us that have been around for a while have learned that the OP will use any pretense to call attention to his FTF count, and some have grown weary of what they see as poorly camouflaged boasting. knowschad, You know I debated for some time about posting this question, and I tried to word it such a way that I wouldn't have the Lifers that live 24/7 on the forums, that seem to live to crucify the next person that posts with any question what so ever. I even posted the name of the cacher that contacted me about the question, just so maybe, just maybe I could get some legitimate responses. But that didn't even work you and all your cronies still find a way to discredit the question. It is a legitimate question and I'm glad that I finally got a legitimate answer from "firennice", that's all I was looking for. Thanks knowschad for nothing, your help is as always just as useless as it ever is.
  11. Thank you for your response that is what I was looking for was hoping to get a answer to my question, hard to wade through the Flamers. My hat is off to DrJay I know how much work it was to get what I have, so he has really put in a lot of effort. Scubasonic
  12. What are you using to look for the caches GPS? Smartphone? You might try looking for the larger Caches with and early rating to start out Difficulty 1.5 Terrain 1.5 this will build your confidence for future finds
  13. craft stores seem to be the best bet I have found them at Craft Wherehouse is where I got mine
  14. I know I'm probably going to regret posting this, and get flamed up the Ying Yang but I got an email from another cacher the other day (Tipete) from Montreal he had just reached 1000 FTFs and ran across my profile and wanted to know if I knew of anyone that had more FTFs then I did. I said no I didn't but hadn't really tried to find out, I told him he could post the question on the Forums to see, but he has not (he's probably smarter then I am). So my question is does anyone know of anyone that has more then 1760 FTFs. I really would be curious as I know Tipete would be as well.
  15. You may want to spend just a little more for a GPS that takes pictures along a route and then it takes the guess work out of where you were when the picture was taken
  16. Just purchased the Garmin Montana 650T and the Garmin GPSmap 62stc it makes taking pictures while grabbing caches along the way a breeze and really fun. So I will be taking many more pictures while out caching.
  17. I recently took some pictures of my buddy up a tree getting a cache they pretty much gave away the cache location, so I asked the CO before I posted them if it was OK and he said no. But I do like Jellis's idea never thought of that would have liked to put the pictures in my Gallery just for the record...................... Oh Well next time.
  18. I think it's horrible I'm in the top 40. I'm going on Sabbatical. I know maybe you should go out caching rather then being here.
  19. I have to admit I will delete a log from a finder that posts a picture of the location, or the cache container. And I will ask them to feel free to re-post their find without any pictures giving away the location, or what the container is. If there is a way for a CO to just delete the picture only I would do that but I don't think there is, I think it can only be deleted by the Finder. Scubasonic
  20. Thank you. I wish I can get to some events but I am stuck for awhile. Can't drive for another 2 1/2 months. But I will be going to mine in WA. Just wish I can even cache. Can you spell cabin fever? Grrrrr. Jellis what's the deal, are you under HOUSE ARREST or something. No but how about a heavy cast on my leg. Only left the apt once in 25 days and that was to get another cast put on. Bummer well heres hoping for your speedy recovery. and back out caching and off the forums.
  22. I feel that if the cache is archived, and you know that when you go after it, then a deleted log is the risk you take on it, and you should accept that. SS
  23. Hmmm sure sounds like you are expecting a thanks to me.
