  1. I live in a dense cache area as well and if there are a lot of caches in an area then there will be many Archive caches as well I have picked up several spots this way. SS
  2. I have a constructive solution for you. I see that you are a premium member so set up a notification to notify you of any caches that are archived in your area, then you can assume the spot and the good thing is it will most likely be approved since there was already a cache there before that was acceptable to the reviewers. Problem solved
  3. Well they just got there first, and I do not think there should be any rules as to how many caches you may own in an area heck in our area some cachers have well over 400+. There are already to many rules in Geocaching as it is we don't need more. Maybe you should move to a un-saturated area. SS
  4. Yep they will be spotted right away. It looks like you did a great job on it and the workmanship looks great. For me it doesn't matter what color it is I wouldn't be caught dead caching, or wearing one anywhere.
  5. It seems to me that it is always the person that didn't get the FTF complaining about ones that did for whatever reason, with lots of details left out of the post, and we here are trying to wade through the situation, to really find out what happened. There are always 2 sides to the story, we are only hearing one. You turned around you made the choice to not go after the FTF so live with it. If NOT getting the FTF bothers you that much, that you have to come on a forum and complain about it, looking for sympathy I would suggest that you find a different facet of the Geocaching game that does not get you so upset. If you can't handle heat stay away from the fire. JMO
  6. I carry the following. Several Pens 35mm Containers tweezers Extra Logs Machete Bug spray Camo Tape Electrical Tape Rain-gear Muck Boots Camera 2 GPS Units Flare Spot Communicator Swiss Army Knife Wire Magnetic Key Holders Water proof hat small Dental mirror telescopic magnetic grabber Several Flashlights at least 3 reflective construction coat
  7. I never was one for taking many pictures, just another piece of gear to carry, and then when I get back I have to try to figure out what picture went with what cache. Fast forward to today now with the built in camera on my Garmin GPSmap 62stc, and my Montana 650T coupled with the FREE basecamp mapping Garmin provides it's a piece of cake, and makes picture taking really fun for me. Just my .02 cents Scubasonic
  8. +1 yep what can you do cheaper just get someone to go with me and split the gas at the end of the day
  9. I did not know the man or see any of his Videos tried to look up his account but it appears to be gone "sven" RIP
  10. I have trouble believing the GPX file is delaying the implementation of a "nano" cache size. The current GPX file already allows for the easy addition of new cache sizes with the existing "container" tag (e.g., <Groundspeak:container>Nano</Groundspeak:container>). The same applies to new cache types (e.g., <Groundspeak:type>Tomb Raider</Groundspeak:type>), new log types (e.g., <Groundspeak:type>Warning</Groundspeak:type>), and attributes (<Groundspeak:attribute id="99" inc="1">Challenge</Groundspeak:attribute>). People who write programs that parse XML code (like GPX files), generally will ignore tags whose values they don't recognize, at least if these aren't vital to the program's operation. Later, if they decide that these new values can be useful to the program, they will change the program to recognize these values and handle them accordingly. In the meantime, though, these new values will not cause their programs to break. I would not think this is a very high priorty item, at least it wouldn't be in my book.
  11. This is a very cool cache I got it when I was visting my Daughter in Denmark and we took a trip to Berlin around December 2010 for a few days. It got a favorite point from me that's for sure. Scubasonic
  12. You could sell it in the "Garage Sale" section of this forum, there now it wasn't a total waste of time to join.
  13. You may not care about FTFs but many do, just their way of enjoying Geocaching the way they want to play it, Mellow Out
  14. Well F. U. are the first letters and alone well you could think of it that way but with the other letters it's just another title to me. I think you are getting all worked up over nothing IMO, I kinda understand why Groundspeak is not responding.
  15. I have a iPhone4 and had a 3gs but never would substitute the accuracy of my Handheld GPS for the iPhone or for that matter any Smartphone, just not the same. I think most every Handheld GPS is better then using a Smartphone. Case in point just yesterday I went for a FTF on a cache that the coordinates were set with a iPhone, and at the end of the day the CO posted a note updating the coordinates as the originals coords set with the phone were 92 Ft off. 16. This is a little OT but I usually do not date my logs at all just sign or initial my caching name.......... does it really matter to date it?
  17. I have seen it where the cacher tears off the log sheet with signatures on it in a Nano because they don't want to roll the whole thing back up to put back in the Nano.
  18. Recently I found a cache when I was in Yuma Arizona, that was a Faucet in the middle of the desert, the funny thing was that when you turned the faucet on water came out. VERY COOL
  19. When we go out, with some careful planning a Nuvi 500 for the car, and a Garmin GPSmap 62stc, and a list of caches to hit in order and a "Target rich" environment we usually get between 80 -100 in a day. That is leaving at about 6:30am and getting back around 5:30pm which still leaves time in the evening to spend with my family. I believe last Saturday my buddy and I got 87. Very Easily done, just plan it out Scubasonic
  20. Maybe the FTF hound has GSAK as this 3rd party software does track FTFs
  21. Then someone with Geocaching Experience should have advised the CO that they needed to be specific in the description as to what was going on. The fault I feel lies with the CO. Not if the FTFers entered a restricted area or didn't pay the required fee. Then it lies on them. Rebuttle? So we know That every entrance to this area is posted? So there is no chance they could have missed the postings?
