  1. I am betting a loooong hot shower/bath is the first item of business. Then a hot meal. And I would be at least half way through a bottle of wine before I got around to logging that Smilie! That is if you can get wine there.
  2. Sudbury you say?? Hmmmm....might be travelling to Ontario this summer. I wonder if I can fit Sudbury into my plans....
  3. Go Stormgren-X! Go!!!! This is the most exciting news in my whole Geocaching career!
  4. I was recently introduced to an old cache type, called a "travelling" cache. The clincher here is that you find the cache and take it with you to re-hide. You then post the new co-ords and someone else races out to find it, re-hides it, posts new co-ords again and so on. Has anyone ever found this cache type before? My understanding is that they are rare now - maybe only 3 in the world? I looked at the "Getting Started With GeoCaching - Cache Types. The travelling cache is not listed under the "grandfathered" cache type. Can anyone verify how many of these are still in existence? Can you share some stories/general information about one that you may have found?
  5. I concur - I think he photoshopped out the highway. The zoom level is farther out rather than closer...The horseshoey thingy is the same farther out.
  6. Right...so I have been looking for about 2 hours now - any hints? I have used tips from early posts. I see trees, I see brown holes and water to the left....sooo left coast?
  7. Sooooo...do tell! How was your trip? Did you get 3 provinces? What was your favorite cache here?
  8. Whats wrong with little green army men and bouncy balls. what you define as "Good swag." may not be to others and what if the next person to go to that cache collects dirty bouncy balls and little green army men you would have spoiled their trading. well at least your spelling was correct and you didnt put a dead lady next to the cache for some one to find. I know you are joking, but....They were really dirty, like scratched up and stepped on dirty. I know that these items are not wierd but, any swag is good swag, but dirty swag......thats another story. I just wanted to make sure the cache contents were nice and clean for the next cacher! Honestly though, I can not think of anything wierd I've found that would justify posting here. Maybe some rocks.....and they were not even agates........GEEZ! "They were really dirty, like scratched up and stepped on dirty." Tee Heee! All this time I thought you meant "dirty" as in "naughty", as in rated XXX! Ha! Little green men with bouncy balls!
  9. I bought a used Magellan eXplorist 400 a few years ago and it works great. The only problem lately is that I bought a new Vista laptop computer and the geocaching software does not work with it. Magellan had a new software package called Vantage Point that could be downloaded free from their site. This worked (though it was more complicated than the previous software) until I pressed the fateful "upgrade" button! They are working on the problem, but I have not looked into it lately. I still have my Windows xp machine and the old software. Magellan tech support is very helpful and friendly when you call and I think that deserves kudos.
  10. I was using Vantage Point successfuly to load geocaches on my eXplorist 400...then I made the mistake of updating Vantage Point. DO NOT DO THIS! Now VP no longer recognizes LOC files as geocaches. It does regognize them as way points, but then it cannot convert them to gs files. Well, at least thats what seems to be happening. Oh what I wouldn't give to go back in time and not accept the update. Anyway, do you know if you can use the "send to gps" button on geocaching.com to transfer the files to the eXplorist 400?
  11. I am also having trouble downloading LOC files from my new Vista computer. The computer can see my Explorist 400 as a hard drive except when it comes to downloading the LOC file, then it says that the unit is not connected. It still works perfectly from my XP PC though. Good thought though about using the card reader - I'll try that. But what is GSAK??
