  1. Where's that "Like" button? Haha. Thanks for the compliment.
  2. I think the closest would be "A Beating"
  3. I'll handle this one a little differently...I'll get the No Box Box ready to ship before I post the rules and take signups...that way I can ship it the same day I post the Tag. This will be AFTER the shipping of the I.K.S.M.M.
  4. Your item arrived at APO, AE 09123 on June 10, 2011 at 10:13 pm. I guess it's all in the hands of the military now.
  5. OK...I know that many of us are anxious for this Mission to move forward to completion... I have gotten an email a few weeks ago about one of the two remaining BOXes, and it's on the way. once it gets here, I'll move forward with this in one of two ways. The Mission always included me adding three BOXes to the 25, so I'll either stick with that and just short myself on one of my 2 keepers, OR...I'll pack up 4 instead to make up for the missing one. Either way, this will get going when the 24th BOX arrives. It still may take me a week to handle everything here though(a week after the arrival of 24).
  6. You actually do have access to unused tracking numbers, you can buy them from Groundspeak(there is a minimum, I think 50 right now...more if you want an Icon). They will need to approve your design first, but then they can sell you the numbers. One need not be on the approved vendor list to buy codes.
  7. My favorite is not really famous...it was the last part of the last sentence in a book filled with the devastation of a massive forrest fire. I used to have it engraved with a forrest scene in one side of a custom Zippo that I had distressed and engraved myself. ...and from high swinging cones opened by the fiery heat, the winged seeds drifted downward to the earth. From: Fire George R. Stewart I read that book 20 years ago, and have always loved that last line. It gives the perfect image of things starting over again.
  8. I'm gonna leave that as a surprise. Maybe the first person can post it?
  9. Most of the artists will be able to work from a very basic drawing, or even a written description of your ideas. There are some vendors that will either help you sell your coins, of even take on the risk of minting them if they feel they will be able to sell enough to make a profit. I think in these cases, they will mint the coins, and you will get a set of your own as a percentage of the sales, like up to 25 to keep.
  10. Glad to hear this "time to do some designs!". Will there be another Mimbres? Mimbres? Nah, I'm waiting to see Navstar v2!!! Me?? I'm waiting to see more people using the Nomad template for personal coins.
  11. I got Delivery Confirmation, if anyone want's to keep tabs on the treasure, here's the link and the tracking number... http://trkcnfrm1.smi.usps.com/PTSInternetWeb/index.jsp 0310 3490 0002 5210 7520 While it's not a requirement, I think it will add a layer of fun if many of us get the tracking, so all of us can follow the Treasure!!
  12. AH-HA !! It has taken off!! Woo-hoo!!! OK...so some people were asking about weight and diminsions Etc...Here are some stats. The Treasure Chest fit perfectly in a box that is 4x6x8 inches The inside is about 4x6 inches, and with the logbook inside, you'll have about 1-1.5 inches height to fill up, not much space, but you can pack a lot of small things in there. The Box with it's logbook, two traveling coins(yes, I attached two) and a pen are about 1.5 pounds. There are currently 35 names on the list. I'm going to estimate that it will be almost two years before the Tiki Treasure makes it back to me. There will inevitably be some people who need to/decide to back out of the mission by the time their turn comes. It's no big deal. If you need to back out, then when someone asks for your address to send to you, kindly just ask them to move on to the next name on the list. Please, PLEASE do not ask someone to send it to you if you will be unable or unwilling to forward it next. The Treasure Chest and the logbook/pen, and coins belong to me, they are my property, so please do not keep them. Remember, "it's MY toy, I'm just letting you play with it". If this last long enough to get back to me, I fully intend to send it out again. Eventually this will get lost in the mail, but let's try to keep it going as long as we can. I would LOVE to see this Treasure Chest show up at a bunch of Events, but you shouldn't keep it too long. Maybe when it's nearly your turn you can plan a small gathering to show it off. I hope that most of you will be able to send it back out within a week of when it arrives. If we consider an average of a week of transit, and a week of idle time, then we're at 70 weeks so far!! Are Ya'll ready for my next hairbrained idea...the "823 No Box Box Tag". I'm workin' out the details!!

  14. Yes, unless it's a Travel Bug. Funny, since I believe "coin" is much more precisely defined than "bug". Bugs come in all sizes and shapes, right? Do you think this will to define lots of things as "geocoins" has to do with the icons? Would there be that many "geocoins" if travel bugs could have unique icons (as the travel tags do)? "Travel Bug" is the name of the tag. Whatever it gets attached to is not part of the definition.I'll bet you could get your own Icon for a batch of TBs if you wanted to buy enough of them, and pay for it. Jeep, Diabetes, Etc....
  15. the Tracking code is a secret only to be used by those players who have actually handled the trackable item. The reference number is one that cannot be use to log movements, but is a way to share the home page of the trackable item, and refer to it in public discussions.
  16. Short answer to the heart of your question.... Yes, unless it's a Travel Bug.
  17. Let the Kitchin Sink know when it's over...We're also on Strike.
  18. I see what you mean... Having to wait only 15 turns is probably optimistic for a while & if it gets down to the same 5 or so people sending in a small circle it loses its appeal and surprise. WSR said on another thread that after a LOT of ordering and reordering of different notebooks, has finally got one on order that should fit, so hopefully it won't be long now. I just realised that some of the things I have ordered are for the wrong person! So now I am back to square one, so am happy to have more time. So glad I didn't send off what I have bought, it would have only suited the cacher I got it for. You need to read the whole thread carefully - WSR states in post # 58 you can only rejoin after you've had the Tiki Treasure box and then sent it on, and that this is intended as an ongoing list: The book I wanted to include does not fit, I'll have to find a new one. No matter...this will be an ongoing list, so even after it's gone, one can always sign up. Only sign up once though, and then after your turn sending, you may sign up again if you like. WSR - you might want to ask a MOD to edit the rules in the first post to add about only signing up again once you've had the "box".... it's all about the box... That was already in Post #1...As far as me meeting my obligation to send out the Tiki Treasure...you will all know I have done it when my name goes back on the list!! Soon, Very Soon
  19. Awesome...Love the story, and the design!
  20. I placed a few bids, and haven't gotten any email or invoice...which leads me to believe that I have not won...sooo...someone must have placed higher bids than me...which means this auction might have done very well!! Anyone want to lay claim to their winnings?? Not asking any amounts, just interested to see who won some of these.
  21. It doesn't have anything to do with the value of copper, it's just a finish anyway, the whole coin is not solid copper. Part of the desirabiltiy is the look, and also the rarity...not very many coins have had an AC version.
