  5. We have put real arrowheads in our cache GC1BTZ7, my husband collected a ton of them from when he lived in South Carolina. They aren't sharp though, so no danger of anyone getting hurt. I can't believe they wouldn't even let you bring them in their glass case, that's pretty odd! This is an important piece of history....

  9. Hi All, Has anyone had any trouble getting their registration code for GSAK? My husband paid over three weeks ago and has sent numerous emails and has not even received a response to his emails, much less a code. Is Clyde okay or is there some other way we should be contacting him? Thanks, burgessfour

  12. It is acually in Oregon and there is a plaque to comemmorate it at ORIGINAL STASH TRIBUTE PLAQUE GCGV0P. It is considered Geocaching Holy Ground
  13. Hi, I don't know if this has already been posted but we kind of ran across the same possible situation. We saw on the map that there was a mystery cache very close to a park that we wanted to place a cache in. We e-mailed our reviewer asking what to do. They said to set up a "Test Cache" page with the coords and a note not to publish, that we were just testing the coordinates due to a nearby mystery cache. We did this and within 5 minutes of sending it off to them we got a reply that we were clear to put a cache there. If that mystery cache final had been there, it would have saved us the time and effort of describing, placing, etc. Hope this helps in the future....
  14. We are new as well, but in our two regular sized caches we put a FTF certificate and a Starbucks gift card and a bit of cash for the cache (2 dollars the first one and 5 the second one). I made up my own certificate but you can get one at http://www.geocacher-u.com/ also. People really seem to like the certificate; it's kind of a collectible thing that will remind them of all their FTF's.
  15. Thank you, I will try that if nothing happens over the weekend!
  16. Usually there is a box or table where bugs get dropped at the event. Often there are some bugs that do not get picked up from the event and the host is left with the task of getting the left overs back out into the wild. It has only been a week since the event; I would give it 1 more week. If nothing happens by then, I would e-mail the cacher that posted the event and ask if they might know the whereabouts of your bug. I see, that makes sense! Just one more reason to get myself to an event so I don't have to ask questions like this Thanks!
  17. Hi! I have a question: One of my travel bugs was dropped off at this event cache-"Staten Island Potluck Picnic" and is sitting there with a lot of other TB's and coins. I've never been to an event cache (hopefully soon!) and so I'm not sure what happens after the event is over and why all these travelers are still there? If anyone can explain this I would sure appreciate it. Thank you!
  18. Hi PetersTrio, We actually were one of the first ones to find this one and we did use our Nuvi in the car, and then our handheld after that. We realized easily we were in front of a house and the coordinates definately led us around it and to the cache site. There were a few muggles, but it seemed to be hid in a pretty good spot. We never felt the owners of the house could see what we were doing. As soon as we are over that way we are going to get Dancing Queen; Please don't stop hiding them! burgessfour
  19. Thanks for the advice! Yes, I would think that Garmin should list it under their GeoCashing Product Guide, but I guess that's what forums like this are for.
  20. Hi All! We would like to stick with Garmin but we're not sure what the best model is for paperless caching. Could someone please help advise us which unit would do the trick? The Colorado line seems to be what most are using, but Garmin isn't recommending that under their GeoCaching section. Thanks!
  21. I've learned that 300 feet is a very long ways when you are on the wrong side of the river!
  22. We just had our first one published today. Don't let people discourage you from hiding your first cache-the others are right, you just feel it when it's time.
  23. Thank you for for the relevant feedback and for letting me know it is where it is supposed to be!
  24. I don't want to sound rude, but let me see if I understand: you have been caching for 6 days, and you hid your first cache 3 days ago (after 3 days of geocaching), and yet you say you "put a lot of thought and effort into it"? Were you putting thought and effort into it even before you got on Geocaching.com? Just wondering. It's dedicated to my mother that died from breast cancer.......Sorry if it offends you. First of all, how would I have known that? Second, how is it relevant to this discussion? Third, who said anything about being offended? Fourth, and totally randomly, my father is a lung cancer survivor, and I work in cancer research for a living. So, cheers, and good luck with the cache. I'll take the high road here. Thank you and keep up the research-too many wonderful people are lost far too soon.
