  1. please disregard.. it's amazing how changing batteries fixes things thought they were fine
  2. Yes. Problem resolved... you guys are great!
  3. I'm sorry, I wasn't specific. When I try to download more than 1 database from GSAK it does this.. I have never had this issue with my 60csx.. So to get around it for now I just load all my pocket queries into 1 database but since I have a specific database with solved puzzles which i manually load I didn't want to load all of them time into that database.. thanks!
  4. What do I need to do to get access to the unit while it is plugged in ? It just displays GARMIN and won't let me get to any pages Also, when I try to download pocket queries, it appears to only load 1 page, when I try to load the 2nd one it appears the first one disappears, I do not have 'clear gps before sending' checked. I am new with this as I upgraded(?) from a 60csx to be able to load more caches and do the paperless route.. Thanks, Todd
  5. thats the answer i was looking for! thanks!!!
  6. I have windows vista on my computer. Maxxed out my caches in the 60csx and got a 2 gig micro sd card and was wanting to load it up too.... How do I go about doing this? I have GSAK setup but have yet to figure out how to get this to work... Thanks in advance...
  7. I don't have any right now & I will try to have them in my possession less than 2 weeks. I will contact the owner too and just get their thoughts just in case. Thanks
  8. We are going to be travelling 1000 miles away on our next trip, would it upset people to clean out TB motels and take them that far away? On one hand the owner would probably like the mileage but on the other you are taking TB's & GC's away from your 'home' area...but then you would probably bring a few back in their place.... Thoughts???
  9. I figured it out. I just saved it while GPS wasn't attached.. Good to go now.. Thanks for all your help.. gof1..I work with someone who also has a personal vendetta for Vista...
  10. Okay. My last question...hopefully...how can i edit & save new info in send waypoints area without sending.? I now have it set up %smart=12 %con in first area & have 2nd area setup as %hint..want it as %hint %last4 %type...i don't want to save and have duplicates of all my waypoints
  11. Okay, I got the GSAK looking the way I want... How do i load it on 60csx? It loaded fine but not the other things like clues, caches size, terrain...etc... If you use GSAK, instead of EasyGPS, to send the waypoints to your GPSr, you can get part of the name of the cache, and even part of the hint using the codes in the "Smart Name" feature. This is the code I use for the Waypoint name on my Vista HCx: %smart=9 %con1%typ1%dif1%ter1 The information included is part of the Name, the Size of the container, the Type of cache (Traditional, Multi, Virtual, Puzzle), the Difficulty and Terrain (based on a 10-point scale). To get part of the hint, I use this code in the Waypoint Description blank of the "Send To GPS" dialogue box: %Name=10 %hint Because you have an 'x' GPSr, you can use Garmin's POI Loader to send the caches to your GPSr as Points of Interest and those allow for more information. For the POIs, I use the same Waypoint code, but for the Cache Description, I use this code: %By %Hint %Code That gives me the cache owner's name, the hint, and if there are enough characters left, the GC code. Here is a rudimentary GSAK tutorial that, although it was created a while ago, might be helpful. Edit for typo You guys are the best!!!!!!!! Now if I could only figure out how to log the last time cache was found... How do you word that? Want to make sure that last cache wasn't a DNF..

  13. I recently downloaded it, so I have the free version still. (I'll probably pay for it once my trial period is over.) Have you perhaps disabled the column that shows the travel bugs and cache size? Try clicking "view", then "add/delete columns". I find that many of the colum choices aren't ones I need to use, so I chose to delete some. Maybe you did that? There is a column to see travel bugs and logs. Also check out the "split screen format" options on the toolbar. You can choose to have a split screen with one half the screen being the most recent logs. The stuff is all there showing but the columns are empty... Maybe it is my ISP or something... Need to get some sleep..Have been messing with this all night..
  14. Does the free version of GSAK just give you the coords? I downloaded it and it doesn't show TB's, cache size, or any logs, it does show who placed it, the name of the cache but that is about it...Will this show more if it is purchased or am I just missing something
  15. I just want to download caches with it... Too new to have experimented with other things... Not sure what all my options are yet..
  16. I need to download a application to download from geocaching.com instead of from the garmin site. What is the best free option ? Or would it be easier to use XP application? I got my Garmin 60CSX today and just starting fiddling with it...
  17. Yes. Actually I know because the owner sent me a message saying where it was & I am guessing the other person got a message to by their reply. I have been there on 2 occasions and haven't found it yet. Of course I only log 1 DNF per cache and I might log how many DNF's I had(prior to) when i get to mark it as found.
  18. I had seen someone log a cache that wasn't there due to construction... I logged it as DNF because i didn't FIND it, but someone after me logged it as FOUND even though the cache was not there... What happened was the log was under some steps and I guess they(the steps) were reconcreted and thus buried the cache or they threw it away in the process.... Is that considered found???? I looked for quite awhile and logged a DNF? What is proper geocaching etiquette here?
  19. The 60CSX was LESS than the Vista HCX? Now that's unusual! Nono... I think he was saying that although the other was less expensive, he chose this one because of the features and it was the one he really wanted. I think. ~Ariel Yeah I think thats right Ariel-By the way I just ordered my 60CSx from walmart-should have it in 7 to 14 days, man I can't wait,WOOHOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I bought the 60CSX today from BB because I thought my Magellan died. I like it alot and don't really regret buying another gps unit after finding out that my Magellan rally wasn't broken. Sorry.. I didn't explain myself I really wanted the 60 csx but it was $297 compared to the Vista HCX for $211 But I didn't want $80 to stand in my way for the unit I originally wanted.. Does that make a little better sense now?..lol...
  20. Okay, Ended up getting the Garmin 60 CSX. I originally wanted this one but the other was a little less but I didn't want any regrets.. Thanks for the input everyone
  21. I have the nuivi 350 and was looking into a handheld... This was what I have been looking at...http://www.amazon.com/Garmin-eTrex-Vista-H...ef=pd_rhf_p_t_2 Pros/Cons?
  22. Nice. Bought my nuvi 350 for trips and used for geocaching and this past wednesday i started getting lost signal message. Thought okay, no big deal as reception was received later and it was overcast outside. Went out & it happened again thursday & signal came back eventually. Yesterday lost signal for good. Attempted to return to Walmart & switch out for new one but they no longer carry it. Is there any thing to do besides send it back to garmin? Got a trip coming up in two weeks & afraid I won't get it back in time.. Any advice?
  23. I was wondering if there was a major store or do you guys buy everything online?. I only checked Dick's Sporting goods & didn't see anything.. Got a blizzard going through today(live in cincinnati area) and can't get out... Would like to possibly buy some coins, bugs or 'toys' to go with my GPS(I call her Ginger..pathetic... ) Trying to talk wife into letting me go out and get some local caches but it was a no, so time to cruise the boards
  24. I am new here. Just started last week. From Northern Ky & was switching from the Indiana, Ohio & KY threads to see if anyone is from the area. Nice site you got here
