  1. I would also like to know about geocachers in the Brookings area. Though residing in the Black Hills now, get back to that area a lot to visit grandparents. did try to find one on HWY 81,on the way to Madison, now forgot the name, but it was gone. Will try again next trip east.
  2. I live near Mt.Rushmore. I suggest the following: A short HIKE-lots of rasberries Boulder Hill - great view Bighorn#1-great veiw& bighorn sheep Doty Springs-beauty tucked away Hoochers Hideaway-deep forest serenity Hope you enjoy your trip.
  3. the geo-journal sounds interesting, but website only show cover-what is on the inside?
  4. I rarely post - maybe 3-4 times total. I do sometimes feel that people get a little too worked up. I like the regional feature.
  5. my vote is for outdoor activity. With my kids involved, we try to take the competitive part OUT of it. They get enough of that with their "real" sports-soccer, bowling, volleyball. There is a definite place for children learning how to be competitive, good sports, gracious losing, etc. But there is also a place for pure enjoyment of the activity with no winner or loser.
  6. I say be flexible - don't worry - let the bugs free to travel on their own journey. You enjoy watching the adventure. The best part is the surprise.
  7. We found one in the town of Mandan. Had a great time sledding in the first big snow of the winter!
  8. I will be going to Waconia for Turkey day and to meet a new nephew. Not much time, but wonder if there are any caches close. Any suggestions?
  9. going to visit my sister.I found a lot when i searched for Bismarck. How about Mandan?any suggestions?
  10. another geocacher from the Black Hills. We just got started this summer. Have not hidden any of our own yet, but someday.I think it would be well worth a trip out here to find some.
  11. I collect keychains and paper bookmarks. I am learning the ice sport of curling. I read. I walk. I play with the dog. I raise my kids and they raise me.
  12. We did one not too far from Hill City called Split Rock Frustration. The GPS bounced around a lot, we got a little frustrated, but oh what a great feeling when we finally found it!!
  13. I am the one that got our family into Geocaching. My husband and daughters, however, have been one hikes with me since the first one. I guess I was just the one that found it and pushed the idea. My husband, true to male stereotypes, it the gadget person and takes care of the GPS. However, the next generation is disproving that male/techie sterotype and my 15 year old daughter is just adept at handling the GPS>
  14. is there a way to search all the geocachers in my area/zip/state/city? can i view their profiles?
  15. i am new to geocaching and wondered about releaseing my bookcrossing books. I guess many people do. Do you get many "catches", do the geocachers log in the books?
