  1. Wow, so much Karma! It should be well on it's way to Nebraska now, or there already. I've ready so many of Carleenp's post of the last year that I almost feel that I know her. BTW... my daughter is an Anime freak and spends most of her days drawing. It was also nice to see Stunod, The Leprechans and Markwell be able to spread some Karma. Some quality Karma there! Now... I have to go look at a map to figure out where Nebraska is?
  2. Don't feel dirty Markwell. It is completely acceptable Actually, I will make sure I add your name to the list tonight. It's nice to see some of the forum regulars getting their hands on it.
  3. Our Gecko 301 will very often get stuck in the elevation screen as we are paging through. Sometimes this can take a very long time. Many times it is actually quicker to restart the GPS. I've reset all the elevation data and max elevation hoping that would help... and does, but only for a little while. Anybody else found a solution or a workaround for this issue. Oh yeah, we do have the latest ROM updates too.
  4. Hey, although work has really had Team 4agers strapped for time lately... we are getting a huge kick out of watching the Karma Stick's progress. So many interesting folks. I've finally got a chance to update the page with all the karma Folks... If I've missed someone let me know. I'd love to get the names of all the folks at the MIGO event. That was pretty darned cool! Holy Cow... (no offense cow spots) did you folks really hit over 100 in a day... where you part of a cache machine?
  5. Nothing wrong with asking. I think it is a fair question by the alert crowd, buddy list crowd, pocket query crowd, and the credit card crowd. It is certainly one of the reasons these forums are here. So while we are asking .... I want my alerts to call me at work, home, cell phone, pager and have the Goodyear blimp fly over with the coordinates. I suppose I can wait a little while for the blimp.
  6. How cool is that! Thanks Cow Spots. Maybe we can arrange a fun way to leave it at our friends place.
  7. That would be very cool... I'm already jelous that the Karma Stick has seen so many awesome things. We hope someday to make it out that way.
  8. If we have our way the Karma Stick and Team 4agers will be there! We had some very good friends at GeoWoodstock2 and said that we shouldn't miss it for the world. Maybe after hitting AZ it can catch a ride with a cacher from the West coast! I'm sure it will find a way
  9. The Caching Karma Stick is off on a new mission. In case you don't know the Caching Karma Stick is a walking stick that is passed from cacher to cacher. It is a great stick and has been on many adventures. It is heading towards Tucson Arizona on it's new mission. On the first mission all the discussions were held in the "geocaching topics' forums and I thought I would move them to the "Travel Bug" forums because it is more appropriate. Click here to be taken to the topic. A few of the folks involved in the first mission
  10. The Caching Karma Stick is off on a new mission. This time it is heading for Tucson Arizona. Team 4agers will be doing some caching/hiking down that way in March and hope we can meet up. That isn't the real reason we sent it off though. We just think it is too darned cool to keep to ourselves. So, if your interested in helping it along let everyone know here, in this forum. Post your city and state so whomever has it can look through the posts and find someone to pass it to. Let everyone know if you have a special cache or hike you will be taking it on as well. Please read the entire TB page, so you know what your getting into. I would also suggest you put it on your watch list because it does provide some interesting reading.
  11. The key to making this work is to have two items or a matching set of something. You should only wrap one. Then when she opens it up you act upset that everything isn't there. Tell her you will be right back as your running out the door.
  12. You know... I was just thinking an option on the PQ page that allowed the search criteria of... Caches that I have found since xx/xx/xx. It would be some work to get all your finds caught up initially, but after that you could easily have all your new finds in a convient and small gpx.
  13. I've been known to cheat before Thanks for the tips... I will put them to use shortly. It will be nice when/if this feature ever becomes available. I can't believe they are already capturing my logs in there and I haven't noticed it... cool!
  14. You are correct, that is one of the problems. Also... o PQ only has the last 5 logs so the entry with your particular log entry isn't listed. o Older archived caches won't be listed. o I believe you can only go X amount of miles from your PQ starting point.
  15. Bigredmed is correct, this argument is 4D. A couple of things to think about though... for If there is really a 95% attrition rate after 300 caches, it would be silly not to do something to keep these cachers interested in the game. I don't believe this sport is like the physical fitness industry and can actually sustain such high rates. against If a mandatory lease expires and the cacher is no longer involved... we have probably just created a huge geo-litter problem. for Which is a bigger problem? Geo-litter or the affect on the area after cachers are walking through for longer periods of time. It really doesn't take that many cachers to create a trail. against What about caches that are at landmarks or someplace that are designed for large amounts of people to visit? Like a virtual. No need to have something like this ever expire. for Several landmarks and interesting spots can have hundreds of interesting things in a small area. A downtown area would be a good example. If a virtual exists to show off a skyscraper, it could prevent another cacher from creating one for the veteran’s memorial next to it. against Quality of caches could spiral. Everyone would just throw things out there because they know their cache won’t have a long shelf life. for Quality could improve. If a great area could have two caches in a year people would get two great caches in a shorter period of time. These are a few of the things that rolled off the top of my head. I think it only proves one point. There really isn't a correct answer. I think TPTB will have to address these points sometime. When probably depends on if they will be making the choice for business viability for strategic purposes. Whether you like it or not, the decision made by this website will have the greatest impact on how this game is sustained and looked at for years to come.
  16. I know both of these subject have been brought up in the past, I was just curious if the ideas have been thrown out or put on the back burner. TB Image Gallery When the image galleries went online for cache pages I thought the TB pages were going to get the same feature shortly after. Something about they will all be using the same .net code or something. Found Caches GPX I know this one could be a little rough on the servers. If I remember correctly Jeremy never ruled out having a gpx created with all your finds in it. I know for some folks this gpx file could be huge, but maybe it could be limited to only once a week or something.
  17. I agree, and I would think every page that isn't requested right now could only help with the server load. I'm sure there is a lot of caching going on this weekend, so the forums will probably be pretty slow.
  18. I'm debating to make it a TB or not... I think I will release it and see how things go and then play it by ear.
  19. Hey felix, I like the idea and have already signed up. I would like to have a perpetual camera though. When the camera is filled I want to replace it and keep the next one going. Is that possible? I will have one released before the week is out called... Those Crazy Clevelanders. Its mission will be to simply get crazy pictures of Cleveland area folks. It will start out with a geocacher of course. Edited to keep my post geocaching related
  20. We released one coin and it never even made it out of the gate. Came up missing right away. Since then I have been leaving coins as a nice trade item for caches I really enjoyed. If I come across a cache that has been neglected or needs maintenance I will leave a coin and challenge the next cacher to perform some maintenance in order to take the coin. Seems to work pretty well.
  21. I would like to see a small text box placed in the header of this web site that would be available on every page. What would it do? Simply allow you type in a waypoint or TB # and go directly to the page.
  22. I really don't know what to do. We have been in contact with a Minneapolis geocaching team that has one of our travel bugs. This team has had it since 4/17, has hit other caches and has even Emailed me back several times. During our last Email exchange they agreed to mail it back via the postal service so we can get it back on the road. Still nothing. They have never really been rude, and in their Emails come across as really wanting to do the right thing. It is really too bad since this is really starting to put a damper on the family race. I know when you release a TB you probably shouldn't expect it to reach all it's goals and things happen. I've had other bugs come up missing. This is just kinda frustrating since we know where it is, we know who has it and they even appear to want to help. They just won't do it.
  23. Trollin for babes This is not photoshoped and no frogs was hurt while taking these pictures
  24. Well, some basic automation has been built in since version 3.05 I think. It is very simple to do and so far is working great. Documentation can be found in the Miscellaneous Features section of the help file.
  25. The folks at Mapopolis have always been pretty good to me, although I have to admit I have started to look around at some of the other products lately. More importantly, I have figured out a way even get around GPXtoMaplet issues. In the batch file I simply kill the process. Simple, yet very effective. Here is a sample of that portion of my batch file... del NEO.MLP /q start gpxtomaplet.exe NEO.gpx sleep 10 pskill mapcopy pskill GPXToMaplet The pskill application can be downloaded here and the sleep application can be downloaded here.
