  1. I think it's only okay to use curse-words if you REALLY mean it. If you say them all the time, then it turns into a kind of "boy who cried wolf" thing. I did once rip a page out of a physical logbook because it all it said was "f*** yuo pigs" (my astericks). i guess i should've left it there for the cache owner to decide what to do with it. all rights reserved, all wrongs reversed
  2. Gee, I hate to stir up the pot here, but it sure would be a shame if some city-slicker like me or explosis headed down there to be the first finder on this one. *cough* *cough* (april21) *cough* *sniffle* all rights reserved, all wrongs reversed
  3. Sorry I missed you guys. I had what i like to call "female trouble." But i'll definitely make it to the next one. And check out my new cache. I'm on AOL today so i can't hotlink, but it's GC4643. all rights reserved, all wrongs reversed

  5. i'm there, as long as everyone that hasn't found "beaver creek canyon" shows up as well for a post-margarita cache. bring your flashlights! all rights reserved, all wrongs reversed

  7. Laurencat and I had an excellent time. Because of all the recent heavy snowfall to the east and west (and even south) of us, we figured spending a weekend in washinton was apt. When you look at the state map of washington on geocaching.com for the first time, it's really hard to overlook the density of caches just east of seattle. Also, i had heard through the forums and elsewhere that Seth! places some unique caches (as well as some other folks), so it seemed pretty obvious where we had to go. But we never imagined that we'd find 28 in 2 days--i'm never doing that again, purposely or not. it was also nice to find some logs without the name "explosis" on them from two days ago. Although by the time we slipped down to federal way, we saw that he had been there just minutes before us. sneaky little... i'm kinda surprised that we don't have a knock-off of "multi-cache-mania" down here in portland yet. maybe i should write some emails. the best thing about washington (besides the caches, of course) is showing cashiers and waitresses my Oregon ID and saying "no sales tax, please." i get a big kick out of saving anywhere from 8 cents to 12 dollars just for being a non-resident. i don't know why. thanks for putting up with us, and if any of you visit portland soon, just post and i'll give you whatever information you need, except spoilers! all rights reserved, all wrongs reversed

  10. Not that i would ever consider going to bellevue and kirkland this weekend just to go geocaching, but--hypothetically now--if i did, I have a few questions for the locals: 1)Where is the best place to have a seafood dinner? Specifically, i'm thinking crabcakes. 2)Where is a good motel in the bellevue/kirkland area? It should be within walking distance of a bar and within driving distance of seth!'s caches. it should also be about 60 bucks a night. But like i said, i would never leave portland at 7am tomorrow just to do the list of caches i've spent most of this morning printing out. That would be even sillier than driving up to olympia/tacoma for the same thing, and i don't know anyone that's ever done that. Thanks for your help. all rights reserved, all wrongs reversed
  11. 2 straight weeks of rain make me think that boots are a good idea, but i don't think we'll need 4x4s or anything. Just flashlights and maybe a lantern. See you all at ground kontrol. all rights reserved, all wrongs reversed

  16. What's with that odd illustration on the scanned version posted by Jeremy? is that me and explosis trying to find the Government Duck cache? Great article, and yes--despite popular belief--that was explosis she was interviewing, not me. all rights reserved, all wrongs reversed
  17. That story is one of the funniest geocaching articles i've ever read. Knowing explosis, i can totally picture everything she described in my head. How fitting that it was all on the day of the Girlfriends get-together. all rights reserved, all wrongs reversed
  18. quote:Originally posted by pdxmarathonman: Pretty fun to read. Although the author mentioned some guy named Ben Higgins rather than the Oregone who _claimed_ to take her around caching Did I really? Was I drunk? As far as I know, I've never taken a reporter geocaching. I did meet the Wall Street Journal reporter, but she didn't want anything to do with my hungover self and my bevy of potential explosis-girlfriends. I'll have to go look for that article, though. all rights reserved, all wrongs reversed

  21. It was day 4 of my trip to Livingston, Montana. I was desperately searching for someplace to camp in southern idaho. Little did i know, the whole region was barren desert. we searched everywhere. there was a lake not too far from twin falls, but the campground was full of RV-types so we moved on. just before sunset, we came upon a state park called bruneau dunes. although it was twelve bucks out of our pockets, we decided it was the best bet as it would be our first shower in almost a week. getting bored of playing "steal the california license plates," we retreated to the campfire for PBRs and a wicked version of my famous hobo stew. the carrots didn't cook all the way through, so i brought out the gps and came up with a fun way to pass the time. i walked just under a mile out into the desert and placed a cigarette on a tree stump, marked the position on my etrex, and headed back to camp. i hit the "goto" function and told my friend to go find my last cigarette. Two snakes and a harried park ranger later, we found it. when i got to a computer a month later, i realized that someone would have thought of this before i did, so i went to google and searched for "gps" and "treasure." sure enough, there was geocaching.com. all rights reserved, all wrongs reversed
  22. quote:Originally posted by Team Roman Geoskis: Hey Oregone, I recall driving from Big Sur, CA. to Coos Bay, OR in the late 70's on I-5. Just as I crossed over into oregon I remember seeing a billboard that read "Do not californicate our state". Is that still there? No, it's not there anymore. Ever since Governor Tom McCall left in the 70s, Oregon has adopted a more friendly official attitude toward our neighbors to the south. Unofficially, however, it is open season 365 days a year on Californians. all rights reserved, all wrongs reversed

  24. I've always considered myself stereotypically anti-californian, despite a few lapses here and there. You know, i laugh when i see the acura with the CA plates pulled over by the tigard police on the shoulder of 217, scoff at any dish with soy as its main ingredient, and have a general dislike for any movie with jennifer love hewitt. But sometimes i do concede. That is to say, i've dated a few of "them" that have somehow migrated--undetected--to oregon. I feel a certain responsibility for assimilating them into our culture, so when i do bring them in, i try to teach them the law of the land. Usually, the process works swimmingly. Such was the case with LaurenCat--or so i thought! Check out her log on this cache and tell me if she should be allowed out of LaLaLand. all rights reserved, all wrongs reversed
  25. Area cachers know that i've beaten them there when they see the honda with all the dents on it illegally parked on the curb and no visible parking pass. in the back seat is usually an inflatable kayak with paddles, life jacket, backpack that i'd be wearing if it weren't a 1/1, sleeping bag, buttload of mixtapes, and "the enigmatic cube of audrey hepburn." From the front seat, you can tell it's my car by the overflowing ashtray, jerry-rigged cd player, torn and wet cache sheets (of course), atlas of oregon and washington, empty cans of PBR, and the smell of spilled coffee emanating from inside. all rights reserved, all wrongs reversed
