  1. This reminds me of what's been going on at Creekside since its inception. This cache may be haunted--much like a certain archived Fractal cache i know of. When i was unsuccessfully trying to find the Washougal History cache, i picked up a few Steel Reserve 22 ouncers, so that may or may not explain the drunk guy sans machete. If it were Tungsten, he would have left his signature item. all rights reserved, all wrongs reversed
  2. I'm trying to post my visit to Joedohn's "Wolf Creek Flats" but the website isn't letting me do it. I have a feeling it's because of the length of the log. This has happened to me before, and normally i just edit it by hitting the back button until it's finally short enough to be acceptable, but that doesn't seem to be working anymore. I've pared it down to be significantly shorter than other logs i've seen, and i even switched browsers and tried it that way, and everything else in my limited knowledge. christ, it's like trying to fix a lawnmower. but nothing works. can anyone help me with this? all rights reserved, all wrongs reversed
  3. Cigarettes? Beer? Aw, you guys know me too well. I'm pretty sure that it's possible to go to both (all three, that is) places in one day--providing you let me cheat just a little bit. Although i won't actually write in the physical logbook until 12:01am on saturday, you have to let me figure out where the "For the Birds" cache is around 6pm on friday the 26th. Also, since the nearest eastbound cache from there requires either snowmobiles or a 4x4, i may have to place a new cache. I know of a place in Island City that might work, but the C2C logbook requires a 50cal ammo box or larger so this is going to be tough. The final stipulation is that this can't be a bet. That N Cal cache was hidden almost a year ago, and i hear it was their first hide. i think you hear me knocking. Therefore, i can't really say for certain that i'll actually find it. so i can't offer you anything if i fail. Because i probably will. But it will be a fun multi-state adventure. I don't think i can accept an entire CARTON of American Spirits (blue), or an entire CASE of pbr, but a pint or three and a pack o' spirits makes for a nice evening. I fixed my tape player in the CRX the day before yesterday, and i recently found that pouring Dr. Pepper on your battery terminals clears up any alternator problems that i may or may not have had in the last couple weeks, so i'm up for it if the Honda is. all rights reserved, all wrongs reversed

  7. Okay, April 21 is kinda booked. But maybe the 27th? It depends. What, exactly, does this cache entail? I have an inflatable kayak, but i don't think i could carry it with the paddle and my pack for over a mile or so without dying of exhaustion. I like the idea of meeting in grants pass. The state of california put a warrant out for my arrest in 1998 for contempt of court (failure to appear on a speeding ticket i got in Anderson), so i always feel edgy when driving in the golden state. Maybe LaurenCat could drive: she has california plates. I really hate the idea of a cache going a whole year without being found, so i'm seriously considering making the drive. all rights reserved, all wrongs reversed

  10. I only recently rediscovered the Fractal Brand sticker i found last year in the Low-Medium-High cache (it was in my glove compartment; who knew?). It's now permanently affixed on the red crx of doom. So, in the spirit of explosis's denied cache, i'm in the process of setting up a "Rose City Redux" cache. The only way to get the coordinates involve Fractal's sticker. It--like explosis's cache--probably won't get approved, so it may have to be a super-secret non-geocaching.com cache. all rights reserved, all wrongs reversed

  12. Sorry i missed you yesterday, Fractal. I went today instead because i got hung up yesterday. When i got there today, i immediately noticed a difference. I thought i was in the wrong park at first. I spent just over an hour there this afternoon. There was hardly any garbage left--i got about a half a bag--so then i went on to the construction debris. I think i got about 90% of it. There were some slabs of concrete that i couldn't lift by myself. I piled it all up next to that handmade "please don't litter" sign. After that i ventured off into the northeast quadrant of Fractal Park (well, why not?) and found the rest of the dishwasher, a broken mirror, and a big old truck tire embedded in the brambles. All we need now is a truck, then it's off to Mt. Talbert! all rights reserved, all wrongs reversed

    Top Ten

Although a serious list of my top ten favorite geocaches ever would take days of consideration and a class in html, i thought i'd share some of the more memorable caches i've done off the top of my head. I don't want to hurt any feelings or stir up a controversial debate here, so keep in mind that this is totally spontaneous. I'm sure I'm forgetting a ton of good ones. If anyone else has a list, i'd love to see it posted. So, in no particular order: This one because it was my first. What a way to start. This one for a lot of reasons. This one because it was scary. This one is unique, and because it was the first time i met another cacher. This one for the drive and the nostalgia. This one for the company (awww). This one was my first kayaking one. This one because it took the longest. This one was my first night-time cache. This one was also unique. I just looked at my "caches found" page and i see that i could include about 20 or 30 more. A true top ten list would be just about impossible to narrow down, methinks. all rights reserved, all wrongs reversed
  15. I think the only way I'm climbing up that tree again is if Audrey Hepburn circa 1954 was up there. Anyone have a time machine and/or human cloning technology? all rights reserved, all wrongs reversed

So, does this mean that you AREN'T making the trip to Karen's Klamath Cache challenge by May 10th...??? Hmmm??? It looks like Laurencat and I are hitting Klamath Falls for a week or so beginning either May 11th or May 18th, depending on a few variables. But I don't think we're up for 25 in one day in such foreign surroundings. The elevation change alone is enough to make us winded after 5. I've been slowly checking out some of the caches, however, and i think i already know where a few of the urban ones are since i spent a few days in the area last july. We're definitely looking forward to it. Tell me, are there crabcakes in Klamath? all rights reserved, all wrongs reversed

I can't stop laughing. all rights reserved, all wrongs reversed

  21. My record for one day is 18. That was in Bellevue, Washington--a wet-side urban area. I've been telling Laurencat that we would beat this record when we visited Klamath Falls next month because every time you bring up 97601 (is that right?) there are approximately 2.6 billion caches within 100 miles. But tonight i started reading the actual descriptions of these caches and have found that even some of the seemingly easy virtual caches have unexpected twists to them. Sheesh, we'll be lucky to find three in one day. We plan on coming down to K-Falls next month to spend a week camping, motelling, and caching--but not necessarily in that order. My only hope is that you Klamath Falls people have as much trouble up here in Portland as we're sure to have in your neighborhood. all rights reserved, all wrongs reversed

  24. quote:Originally posted by fractal: I'm gunna have to hit this one the next time I head out to the cheese factory... I hope you mean the blue heron cheese factory, not the tillamook one. Sometimes when i'm in one of my "cheap date" coastal moods, i find it's best to go with the blue heron cheese factory (a mile or so south of the tillamook) because you can make her fill up on samples of everything from BBQ sauce to brie to horseradish mustard from sheridan, OR. And they even have a petting zoo. That way, by the time you get to Nehalem, there's no need to fill up on crabcakes as appetizers, and subsequently no need to order that crazy white-chocolate raspberry torte for dessert. That torte has destroyed better a man than I. Oh, Andrea Trambley 206 2nd St. Garibaldi, OR One look at her, and the hike up to the big G will seem like nothing. all rights reserved, all wrongs reversed
  25. I'm going out there tomorrow (Tuesday the 16th) evening around 6:30 or 7 to pick up a trashbag's worth or two. I can't fit much into the crx, so i'll leave the bags by the washing machine. all rights reserved, all wrongs reversed
