    And then...

...there's this. as my ex-girlfriend megan once told me in a eugene-area IHOP after watching Martin Lawrence and Will Smith in "Bad Boys" at the Valley River Mall, "expect the worst, hope for the best." all rights reserved, all wrongs reversed
  2. Bah, you shoulda just left it. Am i the only one with a pair of hipboots in my car? Anyway, i would've done it today because i've heard it's a good one. Also, i like to know where these multi-caches end up because i'd hate to place one right on top of an existing final location for a multi-cache by mistake. So i made sure that the one i hid today was nowhere near a place that floods. But i still say you shoulda left it. Hipboots are only thirty bucks. all rights reserved, all wrongs reversed
  3. i give it a 7.4. Oh wait, i'm on the wrong website! all rights reserved, all wrongs reversed
  4. A mileage tax is a stupid idea. Why charge someone like me that gets 45 mpg the same as joe ford expulsion that gets 13 mpg? Doesn't seem fair for those of us that have made the concious decision to drive an economical car. I do agree that using a gps to track it--although borderline big brother--is better than kitzhaber's original plan. I know this isn't going to be a very popular idea, but i'd like to see the gas tax raised. Maybe not raised to the extent of the UK or the rest of the EU, but at least as high as Canada--maybe 50 cents a gallon or so. But i'm biased: My daily commute is exactly 22 feet, suckers!!! all rights reserved, all wrongs reversed
  5. quote:Originally posted by slinger91:Next summer i'd be up for a trip your way for some caching. If you go to Bend, be sure to go to K- and B-Falls. Not only can you find a 5/5 within a half mile of a 1/1, but that area is home to the most hospitable cachers in the country. Give them 24 hour's notice, and they'll not only set up an event cache in your honor, but they'll probably let you camp on their ranch after they buy you a pint at miapia's brewery. I went last may (after the snow melted), and i'll probably go again this may. And to keep in the spirit of this thread, i'm pretty sure you could get 50 in a day if you planned carefully. all rights reserved, all wrongs reversed
  6. Rocketman, the legendary logscaler's adventure notwithstanding, slinger was talking about this event cache which was actually a pretty incredible day. Normally, i'd agree with you, as my day in bellevue in march (18 in one day) burned me out on the cache-and-dash caches for a while. I'll never do 37 caches in one day again unless it's with 19 people (again). logscaler's right about going to central oregon, that's for sure. the navdog/moondog caches alone are some of the best i've ever done. Just stay away from Stars Cabaret: they have this weird dress code that prohibits wearing your baseball cap backwards. How odd is that? all rights reserved, all wrongs reversed

  8. quote:Originally posted by Neuman:All we are saying........is give war a chance I hate to sound like a hippie here, but c'mon!?! Is that really necessary? That is, someone places a legitimate geocache in a faraway land, and just because we happen to be at the brink of conflict with said faraway land, you have to moronically satirize a john lennon song in an effort to belittle the people of iraq?!? How would you feel if you lived in iraq and logged on to geocaching.com for the first time, only to find that someone had advocated the destruction of your country on the only geocache page in your homeland? How tasteless. all rights reserved, all wrongs reversed
  9. quote:Originally posted by Navdog:... The one thing that bothers me though, is that folks say "Don't hunt a lame cache and it will go away". Well, I rarely see that happen. ... How true. I saw a topic in the generals about how we could "vote with our finds" or something along those lines. That is to say (and to reiterate the hypothetical situation you just outlined, navdog), lame caches (for the purposes of this example, virtuals) will eventually die out because people won't bother finding them. Of course, that's fantasy. It seems to me that the easier the cache is to find, the more hits it gets. To use examples from my own list, my lame caches like this one and this one are found with much greater frequency than, say, difficult ones like this one or this one. Personally, i don't want to be regarded as a one-trick-pony in the geocaching universe that is known for writing stupid, incoherent logs about ex-girlfriends and drunken sex, so i've tried to make the caches i've hidden lately a little better. Sure enough, that means that less people find my caches. Here's my point, i think: If you place a lame, easy, virtual cache, you'll end up with three or four finds a week. Out of those, at least ONE of them will praise it to no end--no matter how unrewarding it was. Conversely, if you place a well-thought-out, difficult cache, you'll end up with three or four finds per YEAR. Out of those, maybe two of the logs you get will contain more than 'thanks for the cache.' Alright, i'm totally off the subject. all rights reserved, all wrongs reversed

  11. I got a CD burner, so pdx-area cachers can expect more annoying caches like this one. all rights reserved, all wrongs reversed
  12. Depending on how many people show up, there may be a problem: Have you ever had to pass a logbook around to nine people? An eternity sometimes passes while you're waiting for someone to think of something to write. I'm looking forward to the 28th, as long as i can peel myself out of the bed at the bremerton best western after the previous night's debauchery. Speaking of debauchery, is there anything to do within a few blocks of the bremerton best western on the 27th? And can i rely on the schedule given on the pdf file in case i have to show up a little late? Do the strip clubs in Washington have the same stupid regulations as the Idaho ones? Because i can only tolerate so much liquid latex in one lifetime. In my opinion, nipples should be free from the confines of liquid latex. Next time i go to Boise, i'm liberating nipples. Anyway, if someone wants to trade mobile phone numbers with me in case i'm late, that'd be great. And if you're near the best western the night before, i think you should buy me a beer to reward me for the long drive from pdx. all rights reserved, all wrongs reversed
  13. Although my girlfriend doesn't believe me, i have about 60 hours with Cessna 152s and 150s. Back in March of '86, i was the youngest pilot in the history of Deschutes County, Oregon. Since then, i'm sure that record's been broken. all rights reserved, all wrongs reversed
  14. Their lack of response to repeated emails when their caches go missing combined with the fact that their caches are usually placed within .2 miles of an existing cache and their posted coords are sometimes 300 feet off have made me stop looking for their caches. So my 'nearest' list is destined to permanently be a sad mess. all rights reserved, all wrongs reversed
  15. I gotta eat calamari and bite jewish girls' polyester-clad rear-ends at cassidy's. Seriously though, I'll be back in a month or two--as soon as my rapidly expanding real estate empire calms down. all rights reserved, all wrongs reversed
  16. quote:Originally posted by Seth!: ... Gripe number two: Virtual "geocaches". I'm noticing that more and more of these are showing up on the geocache list, waiting for approval. Now, if it's in a National Park and a physical geocache is off limits, that's cool. But often it seems that people are just too lazy to bother planting a geocache container. So please, don't be lazy. If the neato statue you found won't be a good hiding spot, then use it in an offset or multi-cache. ... http://www.geocachingwa.org Too true, Seth! I'm not sure about Seattle, but Portland is starting to get more than its share of strange virtual caches that could better be used as stages in a multi-cache. We're not as bad as, say, Washington DC or some other major metropolitan areas, but we're getting there. On the other hand, i must say that some of our virtuals are worth doing. Virtuals are great as long as they require you to think, lead to an unexpected conclusion, or make you shamelessly plug your own virtual cache. But writing down dates on statues doesn't do it for me. And all christmas caches are dumb. It's not like jebus died for your tupperware. I'm saying the following without researching it at all, so i should probably be flamed: Anyone that placed a christmas cache last year probably lost interest in geocaching in about February. all rights reserved, all wrongs reversed
  17. This is the first online forum i've ever participated in, so imagine my unpleasant surprise when i visit forums regarding stuff i like better than geocaching. For the most part, everyone here is pretty friendly, helpful, and um, rational. all rights reserved, all wrongs reversed
  18. My ninth grade social studies teacher told me that by the year 2005, everything from Bellingham to Eugene would simply be known as 'Greater Seattle.' He's 24 1/2 months away from being wrong, fortunately. Like anyone else on the planet, i'll vote for where i'm from. The bulk of my found list consists of caches within 25 miles of interstate 5. And although there have been a lot of craptastic ones, there have also been some genuinely entertaining ones. So i choose Greater Seattle. But i must give props to my homeys in Klamath Falls, give a shout out to Bend, and raise the roof for Raymond, Washington. Peace out, bro, peace out everyone. all rights reserved, all wrongs reversed
  19. Although i'm not 100% sure as to where bremerton is, the pdf file makes it look cool. lauren will be done with school by that time, so i'll be there unless we have actual jobs by then. but we're poor, so please--all of you seattleiteiesists--post which couch we can camp upon. oh yeah, is bremerton an island? cuz if i end up on a ferry i'm gonna cry foul. all rights reserved, all wrongs reversed
  20. It definitely wouldn't be this one, this one, this one, this one, or this one, because they're all too easy. This one is pretty cool and has been around for over a year, but i don't think it's my best effort. This one and this one are pretty good too, but i've since done better. This one has potential, but it's too early to tell. This one is totally annoying, and i apologize to all that have attempted it. This one and this one i like. But i'm partial to Liz Phair tunes. Out of the 23 i've placed, i'd have to go with this one because although it isn't the most challenging, i feel that it gives any non-woodburnite a cross-section culture shock that may or may not show up in their logs. all rights reserved, all wrongs reversed
  21. If someone is on their way out the door to do this, please post so. That way, i won't go over there to come up empty handed. Thanks. all rights reserved, all wrongs reversed

  25. I have a dumb theory that states we're all connected to Markwell through the caches we've found. Here's my proof: I found Das Butte which was found by Dan Edwards. Dan Edwards found Live Oak Park Cache which was found by dmcgauley. dmcgauley found Square D which was found by Markwell on April 18. So my Markwell degree equals 3. all rights reserved, all wrongs reversed
