  1. Here's a question, When I use the export HTML it creates the master index page. Each link on the master index links to the individually generated local HTML pages. Is there an easy way to change this so it will link to the GC.com page rather than the local cache page? Ultimately I would like to be able to post the master index page on my website so that I can link directly from there to the GC.com cache page. Thanks in advance for the help!
  2. I'm not familiar with the Blue Charts but if they work the same as the City Select and Metroguide you need to "select" the regions of the map you wish to transfer to the GPS. I had the same problem when I first went to transfer maps to my 76CS. On the PC, click on the select tool and then on the region(s) you wish to transfer then try the transfer to GPS function again. I'll bet that maps will now be an option. Hope this helps Logger
  3. I have had my copy for about 3 weeks now, I've read through it, the only thing interesting that I have found is the accessing the hidden screens chapter. The making cables section is pretty good. All of the info is available on the net but the book puts it al but all together in one easy to find format. There are some neat ideas about protecting the screen. Is it worth the $40 ? Not really. Like I said all of the info is already available with the use of a good search engine. Watch for this book to hit the clearance rack before you shell out real money for it.
  4. You can also use the buddy cache search engine on the OGA site. You can search by postal code or by physical coordinates. Enter your caching name (spelling counts) and either the postal code or physical coordinates and you will be emailed a list of caches within a 20 mile radius that you have not done. If you enter multiple cacher names it will find caches that none of you have done.
  5. CONGRATULATIONS TO YOU BOTH!!!!! 500 is quite the milestone and I'm sure that it will only be a quick layover until you hit 1000! All the best! Logger

  7. Just wanted to congratulate The Blue Quasar on hitting the 300 cache level! Thanks for letting me tag along for a good number of those. I know the last few have been a hard time coming, but you finally made it! Lets hope the next 100 come a lot easier now that the weather will start to straighten up. Enough chit chat now hit the trails! Happy Caching! Logger & Trail
  8. Everything is set for the King Henry night. The libations are chilling, the pig has been selected, and tables have been set (Not really a hard task since there is no cutlery) The only thing we are missing is the court jester, and since Flick is coming along maybe we can talk him into doing double duty <G> All the reservations have been set but if anyone would still like to come along we have room for a few more. The night cache is almost completed. I will be a themed multi-cache highlighting some of the hotspots of Niagara On the Lake at night. The theme will be revealed at the gathering prior to the start of the night at the Angel Inn around 11pm. Logger
  9. Just let everyone know the King Henry VIII feast night has been approved. The page can be found here: King Henrys Cache If your interested in either attending the the night cache and/or the King Henry VIII Feast night please sign up so I can make the reservations. For those who are still lookinig for a great and memorable valentines day gift (hint hint) Look no further.... The dinner will start at 8pm, following the dinner all night cachers will meet at the Angel Inn where the cache information will be distributed. (We tried to set the meeting up at a Tim Hortons but apparently they are banned in the Kingdom of NOTL. (Might explain the low cache density in the area.) Annie has agreed to be our geo-wench for the evening, so for this one night you can address her as "wench" without getting a karate chop to your abdomen. <G> Hope to see you all there! Logger
  10. We are still in the very early stages of the sites developement, so far I think it looks pretty good. I think LugNuts, Annie, and BQ along with the rest of the OGA team deserve a big pat on the back for getting us back online... The Cache buddy program is well underway and should be up and running in the next few weeks. I will be contacting all of those who expressed interest in representing their area as the OGA rep so that we can start putting together some comprehensive caching info for Ontario cachers. With your help I think we can make the site a great place to find out what is happening on the Ontario caching scene. Happy Caching! Logger
  11. I have a cache that has yet to be approved for an event cache in Niagara On the Lake on March 5th. If anyone has ever attended the King Henry VIII dinner theatre I think you will agree that a great night will be had by all. Dinner is served in a Medieval Banquet setting, which means dont expect any cutlery and the serving wenches will wait upon you. During dinner you will be entertained by members of the Kings court. The dinner starts at 8pm sharp and lasts 2-1/2hrs. Cost for the dinner is $55 per person + Taxes and gratuity. You can view the webpage of the King Henry VIII feast at King Henry VIII feast night Following the dinner, there will be some night caching in NOTL. There will be one new multi cache placed for the event highlighting the town of NOTL. If anyone else wishes to place a cache in time for the event please feel free to do so. This is a great oppurtunity to break bread with other cachers and share a few laughs and bad caching stories. If your interested in attending please sign up right away as I will have to let the restaurant know how many will be attending. Happy Caching! Logger
  12. Hey Nozz did you sign the map? If B&B do put the lost PDA cache out it means you would be first to find ..... #1848 Congrats on getting your PDA back Annie, I know I would be lost without mine. Nozzletime you are a true gentleman. Cheers Logger
  13. To me winter accesible means a few things : 1. I can get to the cache site with a reasonable degree of safety and ease. This means the area is not on winter lockdown as some parks are. The cache is not located in an area that can be treaherous with ice and snow. (Side of a steep hill) 2. I usually assume average case scenario for snow (1-2ft) and winter accesible to me, means its above this snow line or in an area that is not affected by large snow falls. Large rock faces or caves are generally snow free in the winter and would qualify as winter friendly. I guess everyone has there own definition of "winter friendly" this is the criteria I use. Your mileage may vary Batteries not included Close cover before striking Happy Caching!
  14. I was originally an M125 user and it did ok using plucker and later Cache-Mate I decided I wanted something a with a little more umph and purchased a Toshiba E750 .... To say the least I LOVE IT.... Load GPX sonar and it works great, nice and simple with lots of features. I transfer the GPX files directly from my laptop to the CF card dont even need to Active Sync the Pocket PC. The only thing I wish Sonar could do is grab the images as well. There are a number of caches where the pictures are critical. I also bought the adapter to connect the pocket PC to my GPS and run Streets and Trips on it. Not only great for Caching but makes navigating in the real world wonderful. The bonus side is if you stop at an open WiFi connection you can log your caches in the field while checking your email. Can life get any better. Happy Caching!
  15. Thank you for the kind words. The caching is fun, but the best part of this sport has to be the people. We have met so many great people through caching on the trails and at the more social oriented events. Even when we talk to new cachers or caching wannabes its the social aspect of the sport that gets the biggest nod..... Now onto the next 300... TNSLMF - Took Nothing , Signed Log, Made Friends Happy New Years and Happy Caching!
  16. Don't worry about short jokes Annie, I think we are all above that <G> Have more faith in your fellow cachers, dont sell us short...... Sorry couldnt resist.. After looking at that photo I think I would take frostbite over snake bite any time. Happy Caching!
  17. I moved to St. Catharines after the swelling went down but still had a mild concussion, once I get the frontal labotomy done I can move to the Burlington or Hamilton area Logger
  18. I dont know about Welland, its a pretty rough area, when we did the finale for the elements series we came in from Woodlawn. As we crossed the bridge on Woodlawn we looked over the bridge and into the water and saw tweety bird floating face down in the river. Now I know you folks in Welland are tough but offing our favourite cartoon character and making him sleep with the fishes that is out right fiendish I think Trail is now emotionally scarred for life. As for the murals, how about having everyone sign them like a giant logbook Just kidding, Hey I lived in Welland for 2 years until the swelling from my concussion subsided and I moved to St. Catharines..... Logger
  19. Well Trail just read the post and the article, so I guess its my duty to defend her <G> Both thoughts were said at different times, why he combined into one thought is beyond me. I value my life and would never have made that sort of connection. Happy Caching!
  20. After reading the article, I am sure that Eric got some of the facts jumbled up. I remember mentioning 4.5lb Walleye and BQ mentioning another cache where there is $50 in it. I think we may have overloaded the poor guy with TMI (too much information) Either way it was a very good positive article for geocaching in general. I'm not sure but I think his number of Niagara cachers might be on the low side, I don't remember what number we quoted him but I do recall telling him that it was hard to tell since not all geocachers attend the more social side of the sport. I will be scanning the article and putting it on my website. I think we should be take all of the great press we have had lately and put it on the OGA website to show people the positive side of the sport. Taking it one step further maybe we should start collecting some of these articles and send them off to Ontario Parks and letting them know we exist Happy Caching! Logger Hey BQ what ever happened to the TV interview with the folks who dropped by GAGHAFAP?
  21. Thanks Clyde, I didnt want to bother you with this one so I figured I would put it out to the brain trust... You must have two monitors running at the same time... One eyeball watching mail on the first monitor and the second eyeball watching the forums. Thanks again for your help. Logger
  22. Ok I am sure that this topic has been covered before but I have searched through the forums and have not been able to find an answer to my question. I am trying to automate a procedure whereby if a group of people want to go out caching together each person sends a gpx file of found and not found for the area they want to cache in. I want to merge them into a separate database called cache buddy. The results of the merged file is filtered for unfound caches in the area and the filter is saved as cache-buddy.gpx. This way I can send the file out to everyone going caching together so we have a list of all of the caches we can do in a given area. When the GPX file has been saved I want to make sure that the cache buddy database is cleared or deleted so that data from one run doesn't infect the next run. I can do this manually quite easily and it works quite well but when I try to automate it I get strange results in the LOAD command. First question, is there anyway to load all the GPX files in a given directory without having to load each one individually? Second question, for some reason no matter what name I put for the LOAD command it always tries to load the last single file that was used. Eventhough the debug prompt tells me it wants to load the correct filename, each time it loads a previous GPX say its called badfile.gpx. Now manually going into GSAK load screen, under single file it shows C:\windows\desktop\badfile.gpx Here's my current .txt file: DEBUG STATUS=on LOAD file="C:\windows\desktop\buddytst\buddy1.gpx" database="cachebuddy" LOAD file="C:\windows\desktop\buddytst\buddy2.gpx" database="cachebuddy" LOAD file="C:\windows\desktop\buddytst\buddy3.gpx" database="cachebuddy" LOAD file="C:\windows\desktop\buddytst\buddy4.gpx" database="cachebuddy" LOAD file="C:\windows\desktop\buddytst\buddy5.gpx" database="cachebuddy" LOAD file="C:\windows\desktop\buddytst\buddy6.gpx" database="cachebuddy" FILTER NAME=cachebuddy EXPORT TYPE=GPX File="c:\WINDOWS\DESKTOP\CACHE-BUDDY.GPX" EXIT Any suggestions, criticisms, etc. would be appreciated Thanks in advance! 23. I can probably contribute to the software demonstration if there is interest. Maybe expand it to include paperless caching on Palm and Pocket PC. I dont know if there is a VGA projector up there if not I can bring one along to make the demo easier. Maybe tag team if someone else wants to contribute some different aspects of software. I am in the process of writing an article for the newsletter reviewing the different software available foruse with a GPS (geocaching and mapping) so if there are particular programs that people would like to see reviewed let me know. We could also demo them at CEC as well. BQ you are the Uber techno geek, you taught me everything I know Happy Caching! Logger
  24. The name of the pushpin file has to be the same as the map you wish to view. Just rename the pushpin file and it should work. I do the same thing all the time, one typo and it will not recognize the pushpin file. Hope this helps Happy Caching! Logger
