  1. I use a free program called GSAK that helps me organize my Caches and also use the Explorist 500. I go to the geocaching.com website and "Build a Pocket Query" and have that emailed to me, then save the file into the GSAK program, open a database named whatever I want to call it, save those files into that database and then click on the GPS button (after setting up and letting it know I am using a Magellan Explorist 500) and click send waypoints while the SD card is plugged into my laptop. Then I am ready to go.
  2. I have been geocaching for about a year and mostly use my handheld GPS but have found myself without the unit and wanted to cache. I recently purchased a Samsung smartphone through AT&T and couldn't find anything from Trimble that appeared to work with my phone. I downloaded the Beeline GPS software that is supposed to work with Windows Mobile 5 or 6 but have not been able to get the software to detect my internal GPS. I have not had time to call or email the company to see if there is something that I am doing wrong as the manual is not a help and I am not a technofile.
  3. Yesterday I logged on for the first time in a while and saw the new site. Looks nice but I had a problem right away. I went to hide/find a cache and clicked on "search with google maps". When I typed in the city and state I wanted to display the map remained where it was. I tried many different regions but could not get the map to move. I had to click and drag to the regions I wanted displayed.
  4. I have a 500 also. I go to "Build Pocket Queries" on the geocaching website. Set up my query and have it emailed to me. I then downloaded it into a cache manager, I use GSAK, and then I have the info I need on the unit. I don't get the hints but most of the other info is there.
