  1. Not just a cache... but an adventure! moondog3.com The adventures of Navdog, Justdog, and Otterpup
  2. We had lots of fun last year caching in the snow. Don't let a few leaves or a foot of snow hold you back! The adventures of Navdog, Justdog, and Otterpup
  3. Two of my caches seem to be quite well known by nearby local non-cachers. At the Willamette Falls cache the seasonal Lock Keeper at the falls is quite familiar with the cache, although he does not know the actual location, he evidently has been very helpful to the folks looking for the clues. At the cache location there seems to be some locals that are aware of the cache as evident by this log. Then at the Quarry View cache a local fisherman seems quite familiar with the cache from this log. Also at our Moondog3 cache, The Birdhouse, a cougar hunter evidently tracked footprints in the snow and found the cache, signed the logbook, registered and eventually found several more. 4. I would Markwell this, but there has been so many. The adventures of Navdog, Justdog, and Otterpup
  5. Welcome and hope you have many fun adventures. Happy Caching. The adventures of Navdog, Justdog, and Otterpup
  6. Hmmm... maybe we were left behind on Earth as cache trinkets by aliens on a geogalactic cache hunt. The adventures of Navdog, Justdog, and Otterpup

  8. Hey! I found it! So here is a Markwell for the thread and here is one for the cache. Suprisingly, it still has 22 watchers even though it has been archived since February. The adventures of Navdog, Justdog, and Otterpup
  9. I seem to recall the Integrity cache, or a similar name, had close to fifty watchers. The cache owner put in $100 dollars and challenged cachers to contribute more money, which eventually went to charity, without plundering it or taking any money. It ended on a good note and was discussed at length in the forums. The adventures of Navdog, Justdog, and Otterpup
  10. I have used Frontpage 2002 to make our Moondog3 geocaching page and it has worked great. But I have also heard that it isn't the best. The nice thing is that you do have the HTML preview page to look at as you make your pages. I find that this is a great learning tool for me to reference as I work on a page. Yahoo Web Hosting also has Frontpage extensions which are a convenience too. The adventures of Navdog, Justdog, and Otterpup
  11. I think that is a typo. Forums page shows 22,231 registered users and not all of those are paying members. The adventures of Navdog, Justdog, and Otterpup
  12. An aerial photo of the coordinates shows it off the very wide shoulder and near the bushes. Just because he says it is 'off I-90' doesn't mean you may have to park on the shoulder. You may have to walk through the surrounding woods to access it. Now if it was in the meridian strip, that would be another thing! The adventures of Navdog, Justdog, and Otterpup
  13. Looks like your links are not matching your thumbnails. The adventures of Navdog, Justdog, and Otterpup

  17. Internet cafes are becoming difficult to find these days. I have found that your local libraries are always a great spot to get online. Just try to visit before the kids get out of school in the afternoon. As a footnote, and reference, I was camping at Fort Canby and checking on my Room with a View cache this weekend. On the way back I stopped at the Cannery Cafe on the waterfront in Astoria for an espresso and noticed that they have internet access. The adventures of Navdog, Justdog, and Otterpup

  19. quote:Originally posted by bigredmed: What I have a problem with my topo maps is that they have GPS coordinates at the corners of the map and no instructions for using the values of this grid to figure out where something is on the map. In other words if I have a box that is 41 15 00 and 96 20 00 in one corner and 41 00 00 and 96 10 00 in the other corner, where on the map is the cache located at 41 09 679 and 96 11 376 supposed to be? Sorry to seem dense, but having asked this question before, and received no good answer, I figure it was worth bringing up again in this thread. What you need is a MAP GRID RULER. These allow you to plot your position from the nearest lat/long intersection on a map. The adventures of Navdog, Justdog, and Otterpup
  20. My favorite is that barley wine ale. I can never remember the name of it. A kick-*** beer though! A few pints of that and your track log on your GPS is looking like a bowl of noodles. The adventures of Navdog, Justdog, and Otterpup

  24. If you have never been to Portland and you have a week, your trip won't be complete without spending a day driving up the Columbia Gorge to Hood River. There are lots of caches on both sides of the river to hunt and enjoy the wonderful scenery. Try the links below for caches close to these towns: Cascade Locks Hood River I just did a cache and wine run the other week and there are a few caches near the wine country of the north Willamette Valley. Try this link. Here is a link to wineries in the North Willamete Valley. North Willamette Valley Wineries Did I mention the Oregon Coast? Enjoy your trip! 25. There are many caches in the Bend/Redmond area that will give you the oppurtunity to stretch your legs and have a good time. I'm starting with a little shameless promotion and listing a few of ours: Squaw Creek Rimwalker II Walkabout The Burma Road Here are some others in the area that definitely aren't drive-by caches either: Tam McArther Thriller at the Pillar Cruise by the Creek 2 This is just a small sample of what the area has to offer. Quite a few Central Oregon cachers enjoy their backyard and have shared some wonderful areas by placing quality caches in these spots. There are also quite a few new caches up in the mountains (Cascades Lakes Highway) that you may want to consider if the weather gets real hot. Use these zipcodes for a search of the general area: 97756 or 97701. The adventures of Navdog, Justdog, and Otterpup
