  1. Hi all, I'm hear in the Great Plains forum asking you guys if you would like my cache idea. It's going to be a woodland woodland micro nano (yeah, I know.. it's scary ).. With a twist! I'm going to use a pinetree log (from a tree on my property that came down during a storm) drilled out with a hole just big enough for film canister. It would contain only a nano logbook and maybe one of my tiny sig items. Now, if you lived near me, or were coming down to good ol' New Jersey, would you dare? Thanks, Phil, PS-Please be honest, I don't want my first cache to be a cache-to-be-avoided .
  2. I hope this is the right place to put this. Is there a list of great urban caches in Northern, NJ?
  3. ___________________________________________________ This is pretty off-topic but.. There is no number of finds that to you need to be able to find, look at me, 2 finds and already making a cache!

  5. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...e8-903ee31f66df Holy @#$^! That CAN'T be legal with basicaly a BIOHAZARD in the area! Looks like people could easily DIE doing this.. []
  6. Mate, my problem is, it doesn't matter wether I'm 30-300 ft from the GZ, its always wacky!
  7. You don't have a magnetic compass in your Legend HCX so, you need to be moving at a fairly quick pace for the GPS to be able to determine direction. People tend to slow down as they approach GZ and the GPS doesn't know which direction it's going, hence the needle getting whacky. What I would do is backtrack about 50 yards and approach GZ at a brisk pace and it usually straightens the arrow out. Thank you! Yet more Briansnat wisdom!
  8. Thanks, Dad and I are going to buy a eTrex Legend HCx.
  9. Hmm.. thanks miragee, yours seemed most helpful. (No offence to others, yours help also!)
  10. Hi all, I accidently made it so whenever I go into a thread (my own included) there are no replys, just links to each reply, how do I fix this? Thanks! Phil
  11. Hi all, Dad and I have just been bested by yet another woodland cache, this is getting really frustrating. Is there anyway I can get a straight signal when I'm under heavy treecover? Do I need to buy something better (Like a 60CX?) Or is there some trick to finding a woodland cache? Thanks, Phil PS-This isn't just minor wobbling, we're going in circles!
  12. Hi all, im exausted, (proven, I proably spelled that wrong ) so don't expect a work of litterary art. Anyone know were I can buy Nano Logs? (Nano, not micro)
  13. Woa! Fast forum we have here[]! I think I'll try some rubber gasket and some rustproofing. Too Tall John, I took note of your experiment, those came from dunking your tin in water, the worst expoesure in the area were I am, my cache would would only get minor condensation.
  14. K, I'll make it rustproof and put my log in a ziplock.
  15. K, thanks guys, I'll proably hide this cache (my first[]) then I'll switch over to lock 'n' locks.
  16. Hi all, Can anyone explain to me what the defintions of paper/paperless caching is?
  17. Thanks mate, it's nice I can reconize some of the big posters here now![]
  18. Do you have a spot picked out? If so describe it and maybe we can suggest some containers that may work well. Lots of experience floating around in this forum. Yup, on or under an old iron railroad bridge
