  1. I've been following this thread in the main forum Evil Caches I stay in Vereeniging and we do not have a lot of nice clean muggle free parks etc so I've been planning a few Micro's and Nano's. Also some of the "crazy caches" from the USA A magnetic bolt A micro ammo can One like this will be cool! Above is a quote out the thread on the main forum page that I think sums up the difference between the two. I want to hide some evil caches and not nastiest! Now what will you call a nice evil cache and what will be plain nasty?
  2. A while back I bought two of the 2007 Compass Rose Geocoin RARE Gold+Nickel Two Tone XLE coins. I paid $117.00 and $107.00 respectivly! What therapy do I need??
  3. Good idea! WIll do that myself. I have lost a few TB's! What about just stamping the number on a blank dogtag? I have a lot of blank dogtags that I can use. Maybe better than a laminated sheet and will last longer Something like this
  4. Fish Eagle wrote this about the Armour Car cache. I know the cache and there are not really other places to stash this cache. IMHO I think this one should be archived. Stone church and Visserman I can see what I can do to take it over but I'm overseas at the moment and need about three to four weeks to go and check the sites again and see if I can re-hide the Visserman one. If I can remember correctly the Visserman cache is also one without much alternative hiding place and if the wall is gone it’s going to be a difficult one! But lets see what I can do when I get home
  5. N 11° 38.928 W 38° 42.559 My Centroid puts me in the middle of the Atlantic north of the equator! Looks like I need to do more caches at home!
  6. I think we getting a bit "off topic" here but........ Don’t think it is old stock. A "standard" stamp that has a wood holder and that needs a pad will only cost what you have quoted. You are perfectly correct. A "custom" designed stamp (with a logo you want on it) that is self inking cost what I said it will. The nice thing about self inking is that you don’t need a pad; it is relatively compact and no ink everywhere! I think I should place a QUALITY letterbox hybrid soon!
  7. The days are long gone that you pay R5.00 for a custom stamp. The rubber alone for a custom cut stamp 38 x 14mm will set you back R48.95! If you want a fancy mobile self inking printy stamp the same size it will be a total of R 170.00! Hardly cheap! I have one I use when I go caching. I'm lucky to have a wife in the stamp business!
  8. I disliked Micro's with a passion! NOTE-- I say "I disliked", past tense! I even publicly said it on this forum that I dislike them! I now have to retract my words! I even have a two of my own, and plan to hide a few more soon (Some evil nano ones!) After loosing bigger caches and replacing them with micros or small caches I have come to realize that there is a place for micro/small caches as well. Don’t get me wrong, "meaningless" micro is to me still a waste but well placed and well thought through micros are well worth the hide and the search. One thing that is also mentioned in this thread and in various other threads is the quality of caches. I think we should start a drive to get all our active cachers in South Africa to improve on the quality of our caches. The South African caches are generally of a high standard if I compare them to what I have seen in other countries but there is still room for improvement IMHO.
  9. I have found a cache or two in Houston USA without even getting out of the car. They have what they call "Shirt lifter caches" that is at the base of light posts in most parking areas. The light post has a metal box around the base that can be lifted up. A lot of micros are hidden in this box. You can literally sit in the car and do the cache through the window!
  10. Yep, daar is so paar krap merk, maar ek is darem 'n groot man wat dit kan vat!
  11. I've done a few and absolutly love them! It takes you to places you would just past along and that you did not even know about. One "forced" me to go to the sterkfontein caves. I would never have gone it it was not for that cache.
  12. I was asked to edit my post. So here it is! WOW!!! NO names were mentioned, Kindly keep the postings civil and in keeping with the spirit of having an open and interactive discussion. I only asked a legitimate question and received some answers on that question-- that by the way, all answers to the question say that logging a find on your own hides as being not the correct thing to do. Please read below. When I do a pocket query I also have a lot of caches that come up as not found! Maybe I should also log them as finds to "solve the problem"
  13. I also do not have a problem with a team attending, NOTE I say attending, an event to all log a find. BUT if you part of the team hiding the cache and your name is part as the owner, you should not log that cache as a find. IMHO the examples I gave is exactly what happened!
  14. I dont know if this is a new trend but lately I have seen some caches logged as finds when that cacher actualy placed that cache. Here is a log of two of them What is the use of placing a cache and then claiming a find for it as well??
  15. Savannah/Tonteldoos XVII is geplaas! Julle FTF ouoens sal moet wag tot more om die cahe te kry want die plaas is toe op 'n Maandag! SORRY! Maar dit is darem die moeite werd om te wag want daar is 'n mooi FTF prys-- 'n boksie met 'n regte, egte tonteldoos, Geocoin and a lapel wapentjie in!
  16. Neville How did you get your map to have the "3d" effect? I loaded the aps onto my PC and I still only get a "flat" looking image!
  17. My vraag-- Moet ek of moet ek nie! Nou will ek sommer die "past, present and future" in een maak.
Cape_Guy DiePienaars This was a cheap offer! If anybody else asked for aTB I did not get your mail so just PM me and I will send it out!
  20. I have 8 TB’s out there 6 is lost! Some is gone with the cache and others have just not been placed in caches again. Is it worth all the money and trouble to place TB’s if they are going to go missing the whole time? It is frustrating to see that TB is going missing for nothing. I placed a TB Leona the Lioness in my Blockhouse cache and that one is also gone without being logged. I always wonder why someone takes a TB and don’t log it. It is a numbered item that he can’t really use for anything else.
  21. Home alone this morning I see! Mauritius on the horizon so its off the rig today and maybe a cache or two for me before flying home tomorrow!
  22. Gerhard What version did you buy. The Full Topo or the DEM? Could you get the complete map installed on your quest? Do you have the Quest or the QuestII? I have a QuestII and want to buy the upgrade when I get back
  23. Looks like a busy morning for all! I'm sitting on a oil rig in the middle of the ocean on the way to Mauritius. Maybe I will try and find a few there if we are allowed off the rig! You are all lucky, at least you can go geocaching RedGlobe, anlufu, Wazat, gerhardoosMPsa
