  1. My Daughter & Grandson live not too far from there. Maybe I will make it a "two-fer".... {My wedding anniversary is in October, but since the wife & I are separated, I do not believe that will be much of a problem....}
  2. BINGO... Hobby King Paraglider Parafoil 2.15m {Hey, if you cannot quote YOURSELF, who *can* you quote...?} ;~)°
  3. She uses "Kite Aerial Photography", among other things... High-Tech Tomb Hunter Finds Unmarked Graves for a Living
  4. I would think that ANY PART of Nebraska would suffice.... ;~)°
  5. My KAV {Kite Aerial Video} from February, 2008....
  6. One of these would help with stability... https://jonesairfoils.com/shop/viewitem.php?productid=20
  7. What kind of kite were you using for a lifter? And do you remember how strong the wind was? I was camping in Central Virginia not quite four years ago, hoping to do some KAPing while there. UN-fortunately, the winds were not quite strong enough to lift my rig with the Rokkaku kite {or "Rok"} that I had. I was there again about a year later with a slightly better Rok, AND the winds were stronger too, so I got a few photos taken....
  8. I was thinking as a “KAPer” first, & a Geocacher second....
  9. This occurred to me just this morning: Make a 'Kite Aerial Photography' cache that requires you to KAP {photograph} the cache with you in the photo {some kind of 'visual cache'} that is only visible from above, or from standing almost directly above it.
  10. I lived in Dade County from 1988 to 1995. I wish I had known about this place *then*....
  11. My first guess was, you are in the southern hemisphere. Then I looked at your profile & confirmed it. {Just seeing that sign in your profile pic was a clue...<g>
  12. On a KAP forum I read, the word "drone" has been used quite a bit, and I have started to use that as my "default" expression. I meant multi-rotors. A couple of years ago I came across an online hobby site - cannot remember which one, although I do not think it was TOWER HOBBIES - that listed a stunter-kite-type parfoil for less than $50-USD {if I remember correctly} that could be used for building a R/C powered parafoil. {UN-fortunately, I do not have it bookmarked on the laptop I am using right now.} One of the great things about powered parafoils - as I understand them - is that you only need two channels to control the actual model itself. One for steering, the other for throttle - increasing or decreasing throttle controls climb, cruise, and descent. THERE YOU GO! I'll have you flying kites before the end of 2015.... ;~)°
  13. THANK GOD FOR DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME!!! If we NEVER switch back to STANDARD TIME, it will be MUCH TOO SOON....
  14. Now, don't mince words, 4. What are you REALLY saying? ;~)°
  15. Just so we are clear, I am not knocking drones. I want to someday build {or purchase} a radio-controlled “powered parafoil” - my name for a “powered parachute” - to augment my Kite Aerial Photography [KAP] & Kite Aerial Video [KAV] work.
  16. Kites are cheaper. And quieter. And I am ALWAYS *up* for the challenge of UNTANGLING kite string...<G>
  17. Was called “AeroJet”. Here is a link: http://leftbirmingham.blogspot.com/2010/04/aerojet-facility.html?m=1
  18. Okay, brief attempt at un-stumped: I just remembered that a couple of months ago I came across something online about a test that a contractor working for NASA built in some part of the {western?} Everglades where they tested a large solid-fuel rocket engine - or engines - in the 1960's for possible use with the Apollo program. The engine was never adopted AFAIK....
  19. Okay, I admit it. You have STUMPED one Native-Floridian. I have NO CLUE where that is....
  20. I did the same thing in the "Kite Flying Cache Has it been done before?" thread....
  21. Hey, I am temporarily stuck using DIAL-UP...<g> How about when the proper batteries QUIT? {NEENER NEENER NEENER!} ;~)° {BTW, *Nice* multi-rotor, T.D.M.}
  22. Dave, I posted a question for you a few minutes ago in another thread regarding trouble I had trying to register on the NC Geocachers forum. I *FORGOT* about *this* thread - where I first learned about the group - until AFTER I posted. {I also sent you an email.} I *should have* posted here. As my daughter would say, "My Bad...." ;~)° {Edit: I 'deleted' that post in the other thread, and replaced it with a brief 'note' saying I reposted it here.}
  23. {I deleted my post - reposted it in the "Large events in the Carolinas?" thread.}
