  1. They might give you DNF's, but it's only a matter of time till that all ends. I used to DNF the same series in my neighborhood for months. Then, with a simple hint, it all finally made sense. I nearly swore to never go back to one, and then I figured it out.

Yea but ill be moving to phoenix in the august so it wont really matter i just couldn;t find some of them. But whatever it'll take me time to get better and to figure where people hide them

:D:D:) I'm working on 4 years caching and I have over 2000 finds and I still get DNF 's. It is part of the game. I have friends that have 6,7,8,9,thousand finds and if it wasn't for a life line IE phone call they may have DNFed, so keep on looking and you may just find it. :)B)B)

Thanks, This truly teaches patience becuase i have none expciallly for caches that make me look for them for a long time

  3. Here is a cool website that shows you how a GPS works! ;)

Yea i tried it out, It is a neat and easy way to learn basic of gps. I though in order to get a lock you needed four satalittes?

3 satellites will get you a 2D location. The 4th lock will get you your 3D position.

Thanks that is what i thought but none of the gps basic sites ever has a fourth satalitte

  4. ...On the flip side, if the owners of those caches dont answer the posted question asking what is going on with the cache, it stands to reason that a request for archive eventually be issued. though it is way to short to make a long story short, the reason I am posting here today is to ask this forum what the reasonable time period for that might be?...

Unless I'm interested in an area near a disabled cache, or am eagar to make a find on a disabled cache, I don't care how long the cache remains disabled.

I continue to be impressed at the time and energy you are wasting in this cause when there are much more deserving causes out there. You have organization skills and, apparently, extra time on your hands that shouldn't be wasted on us. We're not worthy.

Here is a link to San Diego Volunteers. If you are already signed up, then spend more time with them and less on us.

I don't think there shoul be a time set it is when the owner wants to et around to it. i know for me if i wanted a cache bad enough that was dsabled i emailed the owner to see if i could replace it for them

  5. Cache war?

Whut? did somebody say "Cache war?"

Hey Cegrube, are your ugly old toothpick legs ready for another campaign?

To be honest I still feel bad about whuppin' you so during the 2006 MTRP

Cache War. Sometimes I even feel bad about whuppin' that young BBB

whipper-snapper during the Grossmont College Cache War. Well, you know,

    sorta.

As to th' heat, it was only 99-degrees when I did the Lower Otay Lake set last

Thursday and the same temperature next day when I did the Salt Creek

    Canyon set.

It seems to me that the Von's to Crest trail is pretty darned saturated by

scoundrels like Map4navigation, Jahoadi and others but, what th' heck,

brang it on 'cause I've got a steady supply of medication bottles.

    Oh yeah, y'all already did didn't y'?

Poison Oak? Watch where you are walkin' and lookin is my approach. On the

other hand I was entertained by the SDCET gang that recently drove Otay

Mountain Truck Trail. I could see that a few of the gang would benefit by some

insight about recognizing Poison Oak. Made me laugh when a small group

gathered 'round for interpretive remarks while tromping on the plants that I

meant to use for examples. "If y' don't mind movin' your foot I'll show you

some Poison Oak" sort of thang.

Three leaves, and the center leaf has it's own stem; called a petiole. Basket bush

looks almost exactly like Poison Oak except the center leaf doesn't have it's own

    stem.

Basket bush is harmless and, of course, was used by Indian basket makers.

Problem is that Basket Bush and Poison Oak grow together as can be seen in

    Horsethief Canyon.

Often one will hear a person say "I'm alergic to Poison Oak." What that means

mostly is that they haven't had a good exposure to the oil of Poison Oak such as

when leaves have been bruised or crushed against their skin.

Poison Sumac shares the three-leaf, with petiole on the central leaf, characteristics

of Poison Oak but the Sumac leaves are rather purple in color. The only local Poison

Sumac growth I've seen is down in Secret Canyon along Pine Creek west of Pine

    Valley.

Poison Oak often turns red with age.

Can be low, even leafless sprigs or lush head-high thickets.

Let's set up a day to start and jabridge and i will get into the action

  6. Me and Jabridge were thinking about a new cache war out behind wal-mart and vons off los coches. From there all the way to crest. We pretty much have a cache war going but we're thinking about making it official. Any input would be greatly appriciated.

 NO CACHE WAR....not until you guys figure out how not to hide caches in posion oak! :P

Didn't you guys see Jabridge's latest hide. IHO of you!

  7. Does trading coins usually involve unactivated coins (i'm new to this still). I would rather just send one of my coins somewhere to have it travel? Any help would be great

  8. Ive experienceed this on more than one tb of mine. I don't have a selected image for it so i go to edit then i choose the picture i want to use and press submit. Then it comes up with the error page?

what is the error? What is the image URL? Which OS, Which browser? what it the TB# of the trackable. Please use the TB# not the tag number.

Sorry! We encountered an error when requesting that page!

I would keep it unofficial. To make it official would bring down the wrath of the reviewers and over saturating an area with caches. Just keep hiding them for us a few at a time and remember - shhhh.

Besides, how do you make it "official"? Declare war on Terracaching?

Right now I think it's too darn hot for a cache war in east county. :P

Have you been up there at all? I think we will keep it unofficial but i look at the MTRP Cache war and that was a success so i was thinking about something like that but whatever we will keep up hiding them up. I love the hike and we still have plenty to find which mean more to hide near finds.

  12. This has happened to half my coins i own. so now i just take them to events and get dicoveries that way. I like TB's alot more for placing in caches because 1. they are cheaper. Geocoins on average cost more then $10 and 2. TB's have less intrinsic value. You can't really sell it or trade it very well anyway

  13. I think you should check on it within at least a month because it hurts new cachers that might want to find one near there home and they see plenty but then some have be disabled. I usally wait a month. Also unless the cache has some really sentimental value why not archive it and let some one who may be new to caching hide one.

  14. I posted the link because Leno didn't say 99% of what was credited him. The truth matters to me.
Then I'll fix it for you. Try re-reading it now. Is that better? :D

As most of you know I am not a President Bush fan, nor have I ever been, but this is not about Bush, it is about us, as Americans, and it seems to hit the mark. The other day I was reading Newsweek magazine and came across some Poll data I found rather hard to believe. It must be true given the source, right?

The Newsweek poll alleges that 67 percent of Americans are unhappy with the direction the country is headed and 69 percent of the country is unhappy with the performance of the President. In essence 2/3 of the citizenry just ain't happy and want a change. So being the knuckle dragger I am, I started thinking, 'What are we so unhappy about?''

A.. Is it that we have electricity and running water 24 hours a day, 7 Days a week?

B.. Is our unhappiness the result of having air conditioning in the summer and heating in the winter?

C.. Could it be that 95.4 percent of these unhappy folks have a job?

D.. Maybe it is the ability to walk into a grocery store at any time and see more food in moments than Darfur has seen in the last year?

E.. Maybe it is the ability to drive our cars and trucks from the Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic Ocean without having to present identification papers as we move th rough each state?

F.. Or possibly the hundreds of clean and safe motels we would find along the way that can provide temporary shelter?

G.. I guess having thousands of restaurants with varying cuisine from around the world is just not good enough either.

H.. Or could it be that when we wreck our car, emergency workers show up and provide services to help all and even send a helicopter to take you to the hospital.

I.. Perhaps you are one of the 70 percent of Americans who own a home.

J..You may be upset with knowing that in the unfortunate case of a fire, a group of trained firefighters will appear in moments and use top notch equipment to extinguish the flames, thus saving you, your family, and your belongings.

K.. Or if, while at home watching one of your many flat screen TVs, a burglar or prowler intrudes, an officer equipped with a gun and a bullet-proof vest will come to defend you and your family against attack or loss.

L .. This all in the backdrop of a neighborhood free of bombs or militias raping and pillaging the residents. Neighborhoods where 90% of teenagers own cell phones and computers.

M.. How about the complete religious, social and political freedoms we enjoy that are the envy of everyone in the world?

Maybe that is what has 69% of you folks unhappy.

Fact is, we are the largest group of ungrateful, spoiled brats the world has ever seen. No wonder the world loves the U.S. ,yet has a great disdain for its citizens. They see us for what we are. The most blessed people in the world who do nothing but complain about what we don't have, and what we hate about the country instead of thanking the good Lord we live here.

I know, I know. What about the president who took us into war and has no plan to get us out? The president who has a measly 31 percent approval rating? Is this the same president who guided the nation in the dark days after 9/11? The president that cut taxes to bring an economy out of recession? Could this be the same guy who has been called every name in the book for succeeding in keeping all the spoiled ungrateful brats safe from terrorist attacks? The commander in chief of an all-volunteer army that is out there defending you and me?

Did you hear how bad the President is on the news or talk show? Did this news affect you so much, make you so unhappy you couldn't take a look around for yourself and see all the good things and be glad?

Think about it......are you upset at the President because he actually caused you personal pain OR is it because the 'Media' told you he was failing to kiss your sorry ungrateful behind every day. Make no mistake about it.

The troops in Iraq and Afghanistan have volunteered to serve, and in many cases may have died for your freedom. There is currently no draft in this country. They didn't have to go. They are able to refuse to go and end up with either a ''general'' discharge, an 'other than honorable'' discharge or, worst case scenario, a ''dishonorable'' discharge after a few days in the brig.

So why then the flat-out discontentment in the minds of 69 percent of Americans?

Say what you want but I blame it on the media. If it bleeds it leads and they specialize in bad news. Everybody will watch a car crash with blood and guts. How many will watch kids selling lemonade at the corner?

The media knows this and media outlets are for-profit corporations. They offer what sells, and when criticized, try to defend their actions by 'justifying' them in one way or another. Just ask why they tried to allow a murderer like O.J. Simpson to write a book about how he didn't kill his wife, but if he did he would have done it this way......Insane!

Turn off the TV, burn Newsweek, and use the New York Times for the bottom of your bird cage. Then start being grateful for all we have as country. There is exponentially more good than bad. We are among the most blessed people on Earth and should thank God several times a day, or at least be thankful and appreciative.' 'With hurricanes, tornados, fires out of control, mud slides, flooding, severe thunderstorms tearing up the country from one end to another, and with the threat of bird flu and terrorist attacks, 'Are we sure this is a good time to take God out of the Pledge of Allegiance?'
