  1. Ok, So I guess I might have found a bug. Today was the third day I have used the 600 cycling. No problems for Friday or Saturday. Today however, I had a weird thing happen. My wife and I were riding on the Nature Coast Trail from Chiefland, FL to Old Town. Most of this trip is North. I am using the OSM mapset for the USA. I addition to the roads it has rail trails as well. On the 16.5 mile out from Chiefland the track was right on the money. However, on the way back I noticed that at some point the track was at least 450 ft from the trail. This continued for a while. At my next stop I restarted the Oregon and all was well. So I figured there might have been a clitch with map and all was well with the data. However, when I imported the track to Garmin Connect It appears just like it appeared on the unit. you can see where it starts to go off map and then when I restarted the 600 and all was well for the remaining part of the ride. During the time the track was off, the map seemed to have shifted to the left on the 600 with the track right in the center of the screen. Any ideas? btw for some reason I can't seem to embed any photos... but here is a link to the Garmin Connect map. http://www.smartcarofamerica.com/gallery/displayimage.php?imageid=15564
  2. Well the 600 is here. I got it all set up even with my heart rate strap and tempe for tomorrow's ride. There has been some discussion here about the Ram mount. I have two on my bikes for the Oregon 400-500 series. I was hoping I wouldn't have to buy or wait for Ram to make a mount for the 600. Looks like I'm save myself some coin. As "The Vinnes" stated the roller does touch the screen. But, above the active part and by no means in the way. I watching a few vids on the web about how tough the glass is I don't think the roller will cause any damage. The unit fits well and is easy to remove (a little harder than the 550t). Here are a coupe of photos I took of the 600 in the Ram mount. Sorry I just took them with the bikes on the rack in my garage. For some reason I wasn't able to embed the photos in this message. But the following links do work. My link side view showing the roller. My link Hope this helps.
  3. First the 650 and 650t are NOT yet out. Only the 600 & 600t models are available now. I had a 650t on order since Jan. to replace my aging 550t. However, as the date got closer to the then delivery date it always seemed to jump ahead a few weeks. What started as a March delivery is now a late June maybe July one. So I cancelled the order and ordered a 600. Over the past few years I have had the 550t I think I can count the number of pictures taken with the unit on my two hands. I have both a cell phone and a small weatherproof camera with me most of the time and they both take better pics. I use my Oregon mostly for biking with some geocaching. It fits my needs better than the edge. Anyway save some $$ if you can deal w/o the camera Buy the 600, a micro sd card, download some free maps or even spring for Garmin maps and you will be further ahead IMHO. Good luck
  4. Can a dremel tool fix it? Does the roller cause the device to malfunction? I was really hoping to reuse the two I have instead of buying two more. bummer
  5. Have you tried the one for the 400 500 series? I have them on both my road and mtn bikes I hope they will work with the new 600 as well. Time will tell.
  6. Well I did it. I broke down and just purchased a 600. I had ordered a 650T from L L Bean back on 30 Jan. Every couple of weeks I have received email updates with shipping date delays. These emails needed to be read carefully as sometimes you needed to log on to your account and accept the new shipping date and other times you didn't. Well three days ago I received an email stating that shipping date was now going to be June 30th and if that was acceptable I didn't need to do anything. I let it go. Though not too happy about it because by June I will be in my summer home where I would now have to pay sales tax (there is a store in the state). Yes I know I'm cheap . Well today I checked my account and it shows that the order was processed. So I check the details..... bummer they canceled my order. So on the phone I went. I decided to not wait any longer and bought the 600. They list it at $399. but I had ordered the 650t during a 15% sale ...... Beans honored that (-$59.85), plus I had a $10 promo card expiring today, plus for good faith they waived the express shipping charge. So my new 600 should be here sometime on Weds. And the best part is it will cost me only $329.15 a whole lot less than the 650t would have cost me.
  7. Well Garmin is at it again.... I just checked on LL Bean and my order for a 650T has been delayed yet again. Expected shipping is now June 1. That's a big bummer for me as it means the cost of the unit is now increased by $32.94. That's due to the fact I will now need the unit shipped to my summer place in CT where Bean's has to charge the sales tax. I originally ordered on Jan 30. Oh Well I hope the wait is worth it. So far my trusty old 550t is soldiering on.
  8. L L Bean and Garmin have done it again. I originally ordered a 650T back in January. Since then the shipping date has changed many times. It changed once again today from this weekend to the 23rd of May. At this rate I should have in my hands by Christmas.... the ? is which year.
  9. I preordered from Bean's on the 30th of Jan. Since then I have received two emails that the shipping date has been moved. If you DON'T respond to the email and accept the NEW shipping date the order will be cancelled. I also ordered at a time when they were having a sale. I was told that since they couldn't charge my credit card until the item shipped I would need to contact customer service to get the discount. Looking forward to the new oregon and will be looking for a new home for my present 550T.
  10. Well so much for Bean's. I just received an email stating the backordered ship date of Feb, 28 has been pushed back to March 31. Guess I'll just have to wait. Glad I haven't sold my 550T yet
  11. LL Bean is currently running a 10% off sale starting this morning the 14th and ending 18th. That's a good deal for picking up. The promo code to use at online checkout or via phone is WINTER10. I just called and had this applied to my order of January 29th.
  12. hmm LL Bean has 15% off if you sign up for their card and no tax in my state, I might just do that instead of amazon. The best part of buying from Beans is they will always allow you to return the item for a refund. Very similar to REI. I'm funding this new Garmin in part by returning an old Delorme PN-40 that I purchase in the past. They gave me a Full refund via a store credit even though I didn't request it, which I put total the new 650t. You gotta luv Beans
  13. I preordered a 650T from L L Bean at the beginning of the month. At that time the web site was saying it would be available on Feb. 22th. Today the date has ben pushed back to Feb. 28th. Only time will tell
  14. OK,,, Reduced price of $150 plus shipping. This is a great deal.. Make me an offer.
  15. I'm selling my PN-40 Handheld GPSR, It is in good working condition with all original packaging, cables, software, manuals, etc. Plus the following Delorme accessories: 1) XMap 6 GIS software ($259.00); 2) Carrying Case ($19.95): power kit in bag (rechargeable battery, charger, power cables for 12 volt, etc); and these third party pieces 1) 16 gig memory card (installed with a lot of satellite images for Maine) and 2) RAM mount cradle holder all you need is the base (had on my bike). Asking $225.00 or best offer. Add $20.00 for shipping. Prefer paypal.
  16. One thing I noticed was just shutting down the browser and restarting didn't solve the problem. I needed to restart the computer. Then it would report the update and I could load caches.
  17. This is probably a dumb answer... but have you shut down the mac and restarted? Not just the browser.
  18. I was able to download caches without a problem using the web site up to last week. Now they will not download. I have tried two different garmins and two different macs. Found the topic about the plug in issue and the fix. Links to a v4.0.1.1 update. However, these don't do anything. Searching garmin doesn't get me anywhere either. Help. Figured out the problem. Thanks
  19. Thanks for the replies. The plug in was working fine with Safari before my upgrade. The easy fix is just to use FireFox. That's what I am now doing until I have some time to figure out what is going on.
  20. Just updated my MacBook to snow leopard 10.6 and safari 4.0. Now the cache download plug in from geocaching.com will not work. Has anyone solved this problem? Thanks for any help you can provide. Bruce Sawyer Orrington, Me PN-40
  21. Got mine at just down the road a bit from delorme.... L.L. Bean. You can't beat Bean's return policy if ever needed. However, one of the best prices can be found on Amazon. Good Luck. You'll love the unit no matter where you purchase it.
