  1. Right now, no, I haven't thought about re-releasing it. My g/f and I have been out of caching for awhile. She's fighting cancer and the last trip we made (a few years ago) she almost couldn't hike out of the woods. I've kind of stopped all caching.
  2. I've had a travel bug that was last picked up in April 2004, the people last logged into the site the week after and they have never been back. I have written them several emails over the past few years, but nothing. I just want to ride...
  3. I was wondering if anyone else had an issue with the new map? I like what they did. However, the color of the points matches that of the highways and they get lost. Does anyone else have this problem?
  4. Why is everyone always complaining about the mods. I know on the Tampa Bay message board there was one single moderator banned 255 people in one day. There is no telling how many the other mods banned. If you post off topic your post gets moved and you get banned. These people own this message board and they have the right to do what they want.
  5. I wouldn't mind the editor's position if nobody else wants it.
  6. This is the way I transfer waypoints. I use ExpertGPS instead. I keep one GEOCACHE file and upload it to each GPS.
  7. Hey there! Welcome to the community. I also have an eTrex Legend. I love it. I really do not have any tips for you, I just wanted to welcome you.
  8. What if another input field was added to the LOG page? It would be USER RATING for the cache. Those who found the cache can rate it from a 1 to a 5. After enough logs, the cache owner will know if it is a lame cache and other GeoCachers can choose whether or not they want to find a user rated cache of a 1. ????
  9. My girlfriend and I try to stock on items that relate to things we like to do. She is a volunteer firefighter and we stopped at Wally World and picked up toy firemen in the kids section. They were 50 fireman for $2.00. I have also created a calling card to leave behind. If we find something in the cache that interests us we will take it to move on to another cache. Otherwise we just SL and leave card.
  10. Who would cover the land owner for legal liabilities? I would be very hesitant to open my lands up. All one of the public has to do is fall, break a leg, and the land owner will be sued.
  11. I was lucky. On our 5th cache we ever found we were FTF. I did a search and saw it was brand new and we immediately went out to get it and got the FTF.
  12. If the cache was empty for 6 months, why wasn't it reported to the cache owner by any one who found it empty?
  13. If you want to see a heavily moderated BB then go to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers message board. They ban people for talking about banned people. They ban you if you use a "*" to bypass the sensors to post profane language. They can ban you and not tell you why. The thing is, it is probably the most popular message board for football fans and has more than 73,000 members. I am on several other message boards myself and they all have their own rules. They are the ones paying for me to use that message board. If I want to do what I want on a message board then I will start my own.
  14. A monthly newsletter may be more doable. ??
  15. It happened to us twice so far. The first day we went out caching we ran into two couples looking for the same cache. That was interesting. On another cache we were just finishing up when we heard a group tromping through the woods in the direction that we had come from.
  16. I placed my first cache on Saturday. I went to where I wanted to hide the cache and took a waypoint. I then walked away, came back, took another way point, moved the GPS, put it back and took another waypoint. . Two days later I averaged those points and used that to guide me back to the spot. I was at least 30 feet away. I then took 3 more waypoints and averaged those while I took out ones that I knew were too far away. The new average was spot on. I used it to track my way back. One person has since found my cache and I have a question in to him to let me know how accurate my coordinates were. BTW, I am using an Etrex Legend. I have noticed that while we are looking for caches, I am usually withing 25-ft of the cache. That's why I find it helpful to have a second person out looking with me.
  17. I cache with my g/f. I find it more fun this way. On those long hikes in the woods, it is nice to have someone to talk to. It also helps at the cache site. 4 eyes are better than 2.
  18. I have an odd question. When can you edit your own post? I have a couple of posts that I did yesterday and I am unable to edit them. Why? I know new posts are editable, but why aren't old posts? Mike
  19. I feel for you. But as for buying a GPS behind her back, that is a bad idea. Take it from a man who bought a Palm Pilot behind my wife's back back in 98 and I am in the middle of a divorce right now. She is still bringing that issue up. You will never live it down. I am lucky that my girlfriend and her kids have gotten into geocaching with me. Mike
  20. This is what my girlfriend and I use as a signature item. Mike

Hey now. I just joined the forums last night and I have under 5 posts. Wah!!! "Lurker" should be for someone who has an extended period of time between posts.
  22. This is sort of off topic. How does one change the background on their Geocache pages? I posted my first cache yesterday. I have noticed people have police badges, Tolkien themes instead of the green background. Thanks Mike
  23. Hello everyone. This is my first post. My girlfriend and I started caching back in August. I just placed my first cache and travel bug today. My question is: Is there a way to sort for NEW caches close to my location? Thanks Mike
