  1. You can buy them online at THIS website. The service is very good - delivery is usually next day by 1st class post so don't pay the extra for courier delivery!
  2. Congratulations to me... for reaching 300 today!!!
  3. A friend of mine found one of Seasider's caches before he had submitted it for approval! She was looking for a suitable place to hide a cache herself and obviously had the same idea for a suitable place as Seasider!!!
  4. If, for you, "the prize should be going to somewhere that you wouldn't go otherwise" then what does it matter whether you find the tupperware box or not? You have already got the prize simply by going there to look!
  5. I'm a purist and anything more than a GPS and an OS Map is too much in my book! You might as well put up a neon arrow pointing to the cache. Each to their own, though as everyone plays the game his or her own way. It will be interesting to hear how successful you are.
  6. My award for person/s who has/have done the most to acquire permissions from councils, trusts, commissions and landowners for the rest of us to hide caches goes to.... The Wombles
  7. I claim bottom spot for November!!! However, I think a "hide" is worth more to the game than 2 x "finds"!!!
  8. A "Virtual Cacher" who hasn't actually logged any virtual caches!!!
  9. How goes it in Florida, Alex? Have you found all those 500 caches yet?!!!
  10. When I was living in N Yorks, my nearest unfound cache to home was over 30 miles away. Now that I've moved to a new area, my nearest unfound cache is only about 8 miles away as I've yet to get out there and find them all !
  11. Quote from the cache page... One wonders if the muggles had drunk the "booze" left in the cache by the cache owners which then lead them to a drunken trashing frenzy!!!
  12. Thank you very much for the words, Snaik. I just listened to it again... following the words this time and I have to confess it has moved me to tears!
  13. Snaik I just listened to "Going Home" by Mary Fahl which is linked on your Angus Glens - Jocks Road cache page and it's beautiful! Do you happen to have a transcript of the full lyrics please?
  14. I think that rating caches is too subjective. What one person might find to be "boring" or "not challenging" another person may find to be just the opposite, based on their personal experience in the process of finding it and on what it is they like about caching in the first place. Therefore, I'm not sure what actual value the "grade" apportioned would have. A cacher is already able to show his or her approval/enjoyment (or otherwise) in his (or her) log.
  15. Ah Leoness A fellow (is that the right word?) Leo !!! Now I expected you of all people to see what I was getting at ?? Just kidding of course To answer your question I have to bring your attention to a fact of life (no not that fact of life ) when dealing with emotive subjects which might stir deeply into even slightly taboo subjects which involve the individual's psyche conception of right and wrong .... then one can expect some mud to be stirred and indeed flung! So with that in mind I consider have thought I got off lightly with just a bit of debating ploy being directed at me. The unfortunate thing is that if you read through the posts you learn more about the individuals than you do about their opinions on the subject at hand. It was a pity that the silent majority did not get involve as I had wished...only the more confident and articulate members posted. It would have been interesting to see what geocacher had to say? But perhaps that was a bit niaive of me to think they might. But this I will say ... I hope that I have made a few people think in future about how they describe their caches on the geocache page Even if they would rather eat screw nails than admit it! Bill. Meow... or should that be Roooooooaaaaarr! (I'm a pussycat... really!) Thank you, Bill, for your open and, I am sure, honest reply. The reason I asked the question was because I am interested in people's motives for doing things as this, too, helps one to learn more about the individual person and for me, is not at all "unfortunate"!!!
  16. - Huh? I don't understand, please explain - Shocked or surprised (usually mock surprise!) - wink - if I'm implying something or if it's a private joke... i.e. knowingly - smug - as in "ha ha, I found it, you didn't!" - big smile - very happy, I totally agree or congratulations, well done - laugh - I find that funny - that's cool (I don't think I've ever used this one!!!) - as it says... rolling my eyes as in "yeah, right!" - I'm skeptical or contemplating - I'm smiling 'cos I'm happy or feel good - I disapprove - I'm sad or disappointed - I usually use this with - I'm unsure, please explain - I'm incredulous, "I don't belieeeeeeve it!" - I'm ducking judiciously!
  17. After a long discussion, I am wondering what your thoughts are now, Bill, having heard various people's viewpoints and opinions. Is your opinion still the same or do you see things any differently? Do you feel any different for having had this discussion?
  18. Yes, I think that's fair and in the spirit of geocaching.
  19. It hasn't happened to me (yet) but I think I would find it annoying, especially if I had walked/driven a long way to find the cache. I'd then make a decision as to whether I would want to go to the effort/expense of acquiring the required equipment, or whether I would leave it as one of those caches I'd not pursue any further. I'd also make a note on the cache page (NOT a DNF!) explaining that I had made an attempt to find the cache but that on finding out I needed specialist equipment and not having it with me meant that I was unable to continue and I would/would not be returning another day. It occurs to me that maybe others would have already typed this in their logs, so unless I was the first to attempt it, I would have a clue about the specialist equipment beforehand, despite the cache description not telling me!!!
  20. You might find This Link useful for cycling on canal towpaths (you will need Adobe to view the file). This is where you can obtain a Cycle Permit
  21. Well since you're not a numbers man, you won't mind the lack of quality in expense of the quantity!!! Have a good trip!
  22. Cycling on pavements: It is also quite common nowadays to find pavements which have been split for use by cyclists as well as pedestrians, with a white line painted down the middle to indicate which side which is to use.
