Thank you, Travers, for providing that useful link. I took a peek at your profile and notice that you're not a million miles away from me! I was also delighted to see that your caches are all dog-friendly which is very useful to know in advance of setting out. We've come unstuck a couple of times with those ladder-type styles over dry stone walls at which our dog simply digs her heels/claws in! She's not very heavy (28kg) but she does get extremely wet and muddy!

That's not a quote of something I said... it was Couparangus who said it! I was quoting him/her!!!
-
I have noticed an (unofficial?) cache rating system on some caches. I don't want to advertise any specific caches on the forums but take a look at the caches placed by The Spokes in Northumberland to see what I mean!
-
Having said that (see above!)... I wouldn't want the UK to ever get like some places in the USA where the cache density is so great, you can find a cache every 10 minutes!!! (see other forum topic "Eat yer hearts out, numbers people, 130... in one day"
-
Having a high density of caches in an area makes it a prime target for record hunters i.e. those who want to find the most number of caches in a day. I guess that as long as they are being approved then they must comply with the regulations, so I would keep putting them out there. (Of course, the fact that I'm moving to the area soon will have nothing to do with my opinion at all!)

927 !!!

: 907 !!! Now how do I post the pic to prove it?

I'm currently a lady of leisure... so hubby finances my caching trips!!!

I think it's more a question of WHEN will you overtake Seasider?! ...and congratulations from me too! (Edit: to add congrats!)

There's a cache on Cramond Island in the Firth of Forth near Edinburgh called "Go Forth" - GC6DAB. It's reached by walking across a causeway at low tide - I wouldn't recommend swimming across!
-
Keeping to the same theme... I'd watch out for electric fences too!!!

As The Hokesters suggested above, buying a pack of 5 is more cost effective than buying just the one. Don't pay extra for next day (courier) delivery as their cheapest method of despatch is first class post and usually comes the next day anyway!

My interpretation is that a multi CACHE is just that... multiple caches, each giving a clue to the next one.... and therefore you can claim each cache as a find. Having to go to a series of virtuals to get clues for a final cache is, in my interpretation, a mystery or offset cache. Just my two pennyworth!

I think it would be a good idea to have this "pinned" to the top of the forums on a permanent basis. -
Aaaargh! I'm having that problem with the locals up here! I relish a challenge though - so game on!

Like others, my goal is to clear an area... namely North Yorkshire! There are currently approx. 140 caches in the county and I've only got 7 more to do before I move south in a couple of months to Oxfordshire/Wiltshire. I guess my goal then will be to clear up all the caches in the West Country!

Well the only others I can add to Cave Troll & Joan's list are as follows... Munn End - GCGP8K (one of mine!!!) Booze, but no Booze! - GCJ7EA Hard Level - GC7F5D Punchard - GCGAQF Crackpot - GCGKY9 Beware of the Dog - GCJ7BY Oxnop Scar - GCG0HX Buttertubs - GCJF24 Wensleydale View - GCG0HK I have done them all and can recommend all of them for good walks and beautiful views. Some are much easier (quicker) to get to than others and most involve climbing a steep hill - but then, I wouldn't expect anything else for this part of the world!!! I am sure you will enjoy your holiday in the Dales, especially if the weather improves.

Just about to take hubby to work and then I'll get back to you!!!
-
Many happy returns of the day, Postie (I'm only 10 years behind you as I hit the big 40 in August!) I hope you have a lovely day and thank you for all the wonderful caches you have placed, I have enjoyed every one.

I just entered my stats for June. Not very good this month so I expect to be waaaay down the list!

It isn't dead... it's pining for the ffjords!!!

I get mine from http://www.globalpositioningsystems.co.uk Click on "products" and scroll down to "accessories" and then "geocaching". The Travel Bugs are on page 2 of 3. The service is excellent. Don't pay extra for the next day delivery though as they usually come next day anyway by first class post.
