  1. Not counting "get togethers" where I have met quite a few, in a year of caching I have met very few cachers either at, or on the way to, caches... The Monkhouse Family @ Bridal Reeth Yorkstan @ Skipt 'un Scramble (last weekend) Dallan72 @ Skipt 'un Scramble (last weekend) I have been out caching with... Seasider Harrogate Hunters AdrianJohn and met Dogastus after a day's caching in Settle, for a welcome pint. I guess introducing friends to caching doesn't count... (!) namely, Sleepless42 and Yeoman.
  2. I saw a similar topic in the American/General forums a few weeks ago and my favourite was a Co-ordination of Cachers.
  3. I still use paper - it seems a lot easier!!!
  4. Hi Motley Crew Well I did live fairly near to you for 4 years, in Purbrook!!!
  5. I have noticed the same thing with my stats. Whilst I was aware that GCUK doesn't show non UK caches in my cache total, there is still a discrepancy. The stats used to update overnight too but it seems to be taking up to 3 days to notice some finds. Also, the interactive map is still showing caches I have found and logged as not found. This is also not a complaint as I'm happy to wait and see if it corrects itself in time.
  6. Wot new ones?!!! Are you tellin' me I've missed some?
  7. I look forward to it.
  8. Maybe I should add, that I'm really a southerner as I was born in Hertfordshire but since I have been living in N Yorks I have fallen in love with the Dales and would love to live up here permanently. In fact, every time we pass a "For Sale" sign we consider whether it would be somewhere we would like to retire to! From a caching point of view, I am looking forward to exploring a new area as I have exhausted N Yorks! My in-laws live in Berkshire so I'm sure I'll be caching over there very soon. I have already been to "Storming the Beeches" (is that in Bucks?) and "Hunger for this too" and have my eye on an area around Reading for a day's caching. I'll probably try to clear Wiltshire of caches first. Not literally(!) and then head east. Such a pity the nights are drawing in though. Maybe I should take some advice from Pyoung1 with regard to halogen lights and night-vision goggles!!!
  9. Congratulations on the new arrival. I always said the 9th August was a good day to have a birthday! (It was my 40th yesterday)
  10. For my birthday yesterday, I received some lovely hard back "coffee table" books as a reminder of the beautiful Yorkshire countryside we are about to leave behind when we move south in a couple of weeks' time. They all contain excellent photographs of the Yorkshire landscape, from the Moors to the Dales, and include some fantastic aerial photography. Whilst browsing through them this morning, I found myself shouting out... "there's a cache there!" and "I've been to a cache there!" and "I walked up there to find a cache!" It's amazing how many caches I can find in the photographs, which just goes to show that geocaching has taken me to some of the most beautiful parts of a very picturesque county. I love this sport/hobby!
  11. The Goodies! "Goodie, goodie, yum, yum!"
  12. Er... it's not "random" if it's happening on "everyone's" profile!!!
  13. Yes! If you click on "Gallery" on your profile and then click on the pic which is missing, it gives you the option to "restore pic". I had it happen to me too.
  14. LOL! Thank you, everyone, for the birthday wishes. I did start the day with a glass of champagne in bed ("just the one Mrs Wembley") but I had a cache waiting for me to go and find (GCK6XD) and I HAD to be FTF for this one!!! Of course, there's the rest of the bottle to finish now that we're back at home and I can spend all day tomorrow recovering from the hangover! Now that I'm practically an OAP I'm pleased that these tired old legs don't have to climb any more big hills in the Yorkshire Dales and can look forward to some nice easy caches down in the West Country. Much love Jackie (Leoness) xxx
  15. Now... I wonder how long it will take for a cacher from Buxton to find a (disused) dry stone wall and hide a cache called "Shawshank Redemption"? I'll give it a couple of weeks!
  16. I think it was a combination of the heat, the fact that I walked a few miles with you yesterday, (on top of what I did today) and the fact that you're a sneaky bar steward! I hope you accept my invitation down to Oxfordshire/Wiltshire so that I can return the favour... several fold!!!
  17. ...and don't think I won't be getting my own back sometime in the future!
  18. To be perfectly honest with you, I was going to be one of those people and not register my stats for July, until Deego very kindly sent me an email inviting me to. I am by no means perfect and never want to be... and at least if I'm at the bottom, the only way is up!!!
  19. When you get to Knebworth, please wave hello to my home town of Hitchin
  20. I had an email from him the other day. I think he's had car problems recently and hasn't been able to get out caching.
  21. If I don't come last I'll be amazed as July was a very quiet month for me.
  22. Wow! It seems like only yesterday I was congratulating you both on achieving 200! Congratulations. That's 300 caches in just over 3 months which is on course for 1,000 in a year - watch out Seasider!!!
  23. Oops! I must be going prematurely blind as well as senile!!! Thanks!
  24. Please advise email address so that I can send some taken in N Yorks!
  25. As of today, my nearest cache I have yet to find is now 20 miles away in CO Durham. An area I have largely ignored as I've been concentrating mainly on N Yorks caches.
