  1. In that case, would you like me to email you the details so that you have the information to hand in the future should you choose to use it?
  2. Not exactly an answer to your question, but I can recommend a good 15 mile walk with at least 6 caches en route.
  3. I have now added "noreply@geocaching.com" to my contacts list on my hotmail account and will see if that makes any difference over the next day or two. Thank you for your help.
  4. Hi Elias Thank you for the prompt reply. I haven't changed my spam filter settings on my hotmail email account! They aren't even set to maximum but to "enhanced". That's why I'm not sure what's going on as I haven't changed anything on my set-up at all.
  5. For nearly two weeks now, I haven't received any email notifications when either a cache on my watchlist has been found or one of my own caches/TBs has been found. Is anyone else having this problem, or is it just me? Have I, maybe, disabled something on my profile or is it the website?
  6. I wore a name tag to the first event cache I attended, stating both my "real" name and my caching name. I took it off after an hour or so, once everyone knew who I was! It's also nice to learn peoples' "real" names, should they choose to divulge that information.
  7. My father-in-law used to have a problem with herons stealing his Koi Carp and found that a plastic decoy heron near the pond (resited every now and then) did the trick as apparently, a heron won't land where there's another heron already!
  8. I will be soon! (see my comment above)
  9. Thanks, HH, for updating the NYM 2004 TB page! I saw your note!!! Have a great holiday. (PS: Don't be going and getting all hot and sweaty now, will you!!! - private joke!)
  10. By the way, HH, the NYM 2004 TB page needs updating again! Mine's now in Sweden!!!
  11. That's still about 6:1 (meaning, for every 6 caches you've found, you've found 1 TB)
  12. Total caches found = 257 TBs found (including 1 geocoin) = 53 Therefore a ratio of approx. 5:1
  13. Hi John I met you at the first event cache I attended which was near Leeds back in June(?). A well-attended event where much drink was consumed and we didn't actually leave the pub until well after 5pm to go and do a couple of caches which were nearby (which hadn't been specifically set for the event). It was very much a social occasion arranged by Slytherin to swap TBs which he had brought back from a recent trip across the Atlantic. I digress.... The second event cache I attended was the first N Yorks cache meet arranged by Harrogate Hunter. An excellent event which was, again, very well-attended and a couple of caches had been set nearby especially for the occasion. Again, I don't think we actually left the venue until well after 7pm to go and find a couple of local (regular) caches and I don't think I got home until nearly midnight having stayed to have some supper in a local hostelry with Seasider and AdrianJohn (it's all their fault!). I digress again....! One thing which made the Harrogate event that much more enjoyable was that we were all given a travel bug to set off on a race (see NYM 2004 TB Race) for progress). ****** It would seem that there are two types of event cache. One where people meet and chat and swap TBs and maybe do a couple of local caches (which may, or may not have been set for the day) and actually spend time together in a social setting. The other type being an event arranged specifically to tackle a particular cache, usually a 5 star difficulty, where specialist equipment may be needed (eg. Don't Look Down and Ben Nevis), and which can end in a p1ss-up/social gathering afterwards.
  14. Do you mean TBs found or TBs released?
  15. Congratulations Jonny. We are also moving to (near) Swindon next week and I wonder if we're going to the same place!
  16. I bought my Yellow Etrex from Here and it serves me well. The link takes you to a useful web page " A Beginner's Guide to Buying GPS" with some useful tips. Oh... and welcome to the highly addictive sport of geocaching!!! Edit: to add welcome!
  17. Actually, I don't mind that the link's not working for me as I'm sure I am at the bottom anyway!!!
  18. Crikey! That means the river must have been VERY high, to have covered the cache. When I found it, it was a good 6-8ft above the water level.
  19. The link doesn't work for me either!
  20. Why? * What outcome are you hoping to achieve from logging them as a find? * Why is it important to you to log them? Questions I would ask myself if I was contemplating such a thing. What does it matter what other people think anyway? Only you have to live with your decision!
  21. It would seem that it's working for some and not for others! I'll wait and see if it corrects itself in the next few days. No emails from GC.com received now since last week!
  22. I guess it's just me then!!!
  23. Is it just me or have I disabled something in my profile? For the last 3 days, I haven't received a single email notification from GC.com but when I look at the cache pages, I see that caches on my watchlist have been logged. Is anyone else having the same problem?
  24. ...and not even a "thank you" from USB_DUDE!!!
  25. Back in 1999 (I think it was!), I attended a corporate hospitality event at the Revival meeting which was hosted in a marquee on the bank looking down on the Lavant Straight. I seem to remember that members of the public could sit on the bank between the hospitality tents from where there is a good view of nearly the whole circuit and it's a bank so you get to look down on the race track from an elevated position. Not having much interest in the cars, I spent most of my time in the marquee drinking champagne and hosting our clients. It WAS raining for most of the day too, so that's my excuse!!!
