  1. So what was updated in 2.0? Is there a changelog you keep for updates?
  2. Just wanted to leave a note here, but I don't know if it's related unless other people have been experiencing it too. Seems like since I updated to 1.4 my 60CSX has been hanging on shutdown with a long unending tone, and sometimes less frequently hanging on startup, stuck at the opening splash screen, only remedy is to remove the batteries and try again. Anyone else happen to have this issue?
  3. Got a couple of new questions now for you all. First, I've seen Topo 2008 for $70-80 in various places. It says it includes roads, so what I'm wondering is if you can do directions like you can in City Navigator with turn-by-turn instructions on the unit, or if CN would still be the optimal map to use for that (for use in car for travel)? Second, recently when I go to turn off my 60CSX it will shut off the screen and the tone that occurs as it shuts off will just keep going as a long continuous beep til I take out the batteries to kill it off. I haven't really been rough on my unit, so I don't think it could be a hardware issue unless faulty from the factory, but it hasn't done it til the last couple of weeks. Sometimes, more recently and less often, it will stop loading on the startup screen, and it won't continue past it til I remove the batteries also. Any ideas what might be causing it? I'm not sure if it's something I have on my card, as I have Ibycus's 1.4 loaded for about 6 states, and I suppose it might be something to do with upgrading from the 1.3 version but I don't know how I could find that out without removing everything on my unit. I guess I could ask in that thread too though.
  4. Happy update here: I downloaded the file on an unsecured 12mb line at a friends place, around 1am this morning, and tried the installer on a whim, and now it's installing fine, no error at all. Maybe in the time it takes to download the file it might have a chance of messing up? I wouldn't think it took long enough to time out or anything so that it messed up at home, as I have a 5mb line which is still pretty decent. But either way I have the working file now, so I wonder if anyone else will have this luck now? Addition: Wow. I checked the tracks from my drive from northern vermont to Lebanon NH and all of them are marked right on the road lines. It's amazing to see how correct the maps are after getting used to the basemap and being poor. Thanks so much for this gift of maps Dale. It is unfortunate it doesn't support routing but this will definitely hold me over for a long time til I get City Navigator, or maybe I won't now.
  5. I dont know if it's of any relevance but when I bypassed the check before the install using NCRC, I checked the details of the install after it failed and it had stopped on the first or second file. Is there any prerequisite resident software we need to have that it's requesting and cannot find? edit: specifically, the installer shows TigerData.tbd and TigerData.img as the only 2 files that were accessed (or attempted) before the failure, and the img file being the last of the 2
  6. I got my Saturn SC2 to get me close, and my Specialized FSR Ground Control to get me closer. I also have these things attached to the bottoms of my legs, feet they call them. I'd like to get a Lancer Evo but it won't be happening for a long while now.
  7. Copy the link, make sure the ) isnt on the end of it. That's whats messing it up, and I had that problem too but that's a quick and easy fix.
  8. I'm throwing in the towel rather than be a thorn in your side, I've got the newest build, same filesize, disabled A/V, shut down certain programs, trying on the macbook, and several other things, and it's just not working out for me. Maybe I just need to give up.
  9. I checked the exact size and got the same reading as you, 466,959,260. I can't think of anything else on my end that could be wrong. I look forward to the next version though. Thanks for the quick action
  10. /NCRC didn't work, only continued about 1% into the install and decided it was corrupted again. I'm not sure what the deal is anymore. I'll try downloading on my Macbook on the Windows partition ...annnnd nothing.
  11. What's the size on your EXE file? Sounds like a corrupted download. Have you tried downloading with a different browser? I find some browsers better than others at large downloads (I know I had to install firefox to get some of the road network files to download). Each time downloaded marks it at 445MB, downloaded in Firefox, IE with and without the Orbit Downloader (which kind of annoys me anyways so I should get rid of it.) I'll try it in Mozilla too and see if that does anything. ::Edit:: I just found a bypass in the error checking process, by using /NCRC in the command line, and when this copy downloads, if it doesn't work either I'll try that.
  12. I've tried downloading the exe several times in different ways on different browsers and keep getting a NSIS error saying the file couldn't pass error checking verification.. Either way if Pennsylvania, Vermont, and New Hampshire could be done, I'd love you long time (if I could get the thing to work first)
  13. Thanks to both of you, that answered my questions perfectly. Now that I have that direct route thing down I think this all will come a lot easier. I'm going to try that MetroWizzz thing too, at least to see how well it works, but I think sometime down the road (hopefully soonish) I'll still be getting CityNavigator. One more question too though; I read that you can use usb phone chargers with the mini-USB port (like the Motorola RAZR has) to power the unit. What I'm wondering is if I could go and get the usb tip for my iGo car charger and use that as my car power cable, or if it would not be safe to use depending on voltage levels? It would save me $20 or so in getting a power adaptor if it's capable of working.
  14. Looks like all you need is a USB cable with a mini-USB tip on one end. I looked at the information page for that model and it seems like it has the same connectivity as the one I have, a widely available USB type.
  15. I'm a starting geocacher and just recently got the 60CSx, for that purpose, for trail riding on my bike, and driving (although I can't afford the City Navigator map yet, but soon). I read through the manual and it tells me once I've found a cache, that it will be logged in my calendar (or at least I read the option in the settings and I set it to do so), and yet when I change a caches marker to found, its not listed in the calendar. I haven't found another option to switch the cache to found other than changing the icon, so I don't know what the deal is. It's not entirely important because I write the ones I've found down in a little notebook I carry, but it would be nice to have that feature working. Another question is; is it possible to have the compass guide (or whatever you'd like to call it when the compass shows the arrow to the next waypoint) or any 'route' to just be a direct route to the cache/waypoint? Each time I try to direct myself to a cache, it tries to take me on some highways that take me all around the area, even when the cache is in the middle of nowhere. I'd like to just have something that will allow me to follow the arrow to the general area and let me find it from there. I've checked options in the settings but nothing seems to make any difference. Finally, were I to purchase the City Navigator maps and install them on the unit, would it give me the same functionality and reliability as a unit designed specifically for road navigation, or would it be somewhat gimpy? I know it doesn't feature voice, which is OK by me, as if I really wanted it to read my directions to me I'd hook it up to my laptop and run it in Delorme, but that's not any sort of necessity at all. And how is the quality of the maps? I know the basemap is pretty undetailed as for locations of roads (even if the intersections and exits are on perfect location), if I were driving on a curved road would the map show the curve and that I'm actually on it or would it be not completely exact, sometimes showing my tracking off to the sides of the road on the map of a completely different shape? thanks in advance for helping a new guy
