  1. You have only 24 caches found. I doubt any of those caches' owners will care or will even notice. You may edit your Found it logs and add a note about the previous nickname you used to sign the logbook.
  2. Does anyone know what the frequency of MapQuest tile rendering is? We visited the cache GC1WTQM and since the map of the cemetery was so poor I decided to improve it a bit using my experience. So I launched JOSM and added some footways and service ways, extended already existing one, named a building. All this happened on 2014-05-22. Openstreetmap.org rendered my changes within an hour (not in all zoom levels). MapQuest still haven't and today it's been 13 days. So I wonder if they ever will or they just stopped the rendering service?
  3. I do the same and encourage others to log DNF as well. It's an important information for the CO if there are more DNF's in a row so he knows he should check out the cache. And it may be even more important info for those of us who are planning our caching trip and want to avoid likely missing caches.
  4. Yep, I know how to swap different map sources by clicking on the paper stack symbol on the upper right and usually use OpenStreetMap Default. MapQuest is ... weird, doesn't show too much information but due to its low contrast it's generally useful for displaying caches without making cachers confused. BTW, don't you guys know how to make OSM default for cache description pages instead of MapQuest? I've searched my account settings page without success so I doubt it's possible. For the large map I use GC little helper (greasemonkey script) to make OSM default.
  5. As I have an Openstreetmap account, I've fixed the street names you mentioned. Changes are usually visible on Openstreetmap rendered using Mapnik within a couple of minutes, but I don't know how often MapQuest maps are rendered. These are the ones gc.com uses. Yesterday I did a few edits on OSM (added some forrest tracks), but still can't see the changes on MapQuest (it's been about 20 hours).
  6. Well, "massively", "major problems"... that is subjective. In my case and my one and only one PMO cache there is no problem so far. But there might be owners or locations which do have problems with this. Anyway, this flaw should get fixed as soon as possible but I'm not in high hopes as GS developer team is understaffed (I read that in someone's post and it is apparently true)
  7. Ohh, I guess I get his point. It is just that he cannot see over the boundaries of his favourite GSAK. From what I've understood so far it looks like GSAK's treating child waypoints is as follows: it reads the content of the <sym> tag and adds it to the internal waypoint type table if needed (if this type is not already in there). This table is dynamically feeded. That will potentially result in having "Question to answer", "Virtual stage", "Stage of a multicache" and "Physical stage" in the table at the same time if all caches in the database don't get updated. Icons are not assigned to these new types or are assigned incorrectly (as has happened with "Physical stage" which is shown with parking area icon in maps). Needs an update to correct this minor glitch. Another cache management applications have static (hardcoded) waypoint type table (Geoget, aDrake). These have troubles when a "Virtual stage"/"Physical stage" arrive in <sym> tag after yesterday's update and don't know what to do with them. They need update. No mixtures of new and old waypoint types and no wrong image/icon assignments in these apps. It is no problem to count with changes but yesterday's change hadn't been announced to application developers.
  8. Oh dear. I logged off and checked the cache map to see where my PMO traditional cache is located. Well - it is displayed on its real place, doesn't even seem to be offset at all and available in all zoom levels. It IS sufficient for an anonymous user to find it... This is a hot issue and should be resolved as fast as possible.
  9. As far as I know there's not, I've never found such an option in the configuration. As of today, DNF'd caches show up just like regular not-yet-found caches since that's what they actually are. But it's not a bad idea. I explore my DNF list now and it would be useful to have a smiley for caches with DNF status. It would draw my attention while browsing the map and I'd open the listing to see if the cache is already in place or just whatever has happened since my DNF. But at the same time I'd still like to see the type of the cache (traditional, multi) so the classic images could be modified let's say with the blue DNF smiley placed in a corner of the image so we still would know it's multi or mystery cache.
  10. All input text seems to be parsed for specific strings, one of them being (for whatever reason) [P]. I've just tried to insert it into a log (Write note) and it got removed as well. As smileys are coded using square brackets (and replaced with the smiley image afterwards), this might be related to them somehow. .
  11. This is much wider problem. I have found out that oficially supported tag abbr gets even completely stripped off. Developers should inspect the whole tag/attribute list and finally make them supported.
  12. GSAK is free but after 21 days you get a nag scren everytime you run it unless you have a paid version. Completely free alternative for GSAK is Geoget.
  13. I doubt it as Moun10Bike mentioned a few days ago that Groundspeak had limited resources.
  14. Perhaps, there should be no Lab caches anymore and programmers should focus on problems.
  15. Could you please provide a link to the roadmap? I'm just curious about what we can expect in the future.
  16. I guess there are lots of useful requests in your backlog which could make our life on the website much easier, but we understand that programmers have more important things to work on ... like lab caches... or changing favicon.
  17. Good to know. So we can ask our reviewer to publish the cache at specific date and time and he just sets it up (if approved) and doesn't have to be at the computer let's say at midnight. Great, at least something!
  18. It's weird that the Moun10Bike's one displays correctly - map with waypoints zoomable/movable. (Do you have sort of an exception from the devs? ) I know of many others with additional waypoints which have the map blind and stuck, like my "B-17 going down" for instance. Firefox 26.0
  19. It's been more than a year... has this request shifted in the queue upwards (or downwards) or has even some work been started on this? Just curious.
  20. Well, I'm not sure whether it is by design. If it was we would get a message like "not possible to download GPX file of an unpublished cache" instead of getting blank page. Or much likely the "GPX file" button would not be there at all. This is something that needs to be fixed. Today I would appreciate the possibility to download a GPX file of my new unpublished multi as I want to send the listing to a betatester. I'm going to send him PDF instead and he'll have to input stages coordinates into his GPS manually.
  21. I guess the reason why they don't hurry with fixing this UTF-8 input issue is to keep Chinese (and the like) guys from flooding listings and logs with their pictograms....
  22. Well, let's assume the site internally uses component "UBB Textbox" which has this character encoding issue from the very beginning. The question is why Groundspeak bought it/started using it... (And BTW ain't this the supplier's business to get it fixed?)
  23. Ok, maybe you GC gyus just don't get one simple thing: you lose money here. If there are more people like me (and you bet there are) which seriously think about premium membership, but wait until site developers fix this annoying diacritic issue, you lose many $ every year.
  24. I have to confirm this for Czechs. I do not understand this behavior since the source code of any listing includes content="text/html; charset=UTF-8"... So why the heck this weird conversion takes place here??? Anyone knows?
  25. Hello, are you planning to use Google Maps in print-friendly page view as well? I have noticed there are still Yahoo maps used there. Maybe it has been just forgotten...?
