  1. I lived near the village of Darley about 12 miles west of Harrogate. I did not know about Geocaching then. Gutted it a real stunning part of britain and lots of so caches,so any cache should be a pleasure. I'd reccommend the area around Thruscross resevoir as this was my favorite places to go for a run. Its about 5 miles round trip around the resevoir. Awesome walk. TheWhoUK

  4. Hello, I have one cache left for adoption. It's a puzzle cache on the south bank of the thames. I've archived or had adopted the few I had. I'd hate to see this one archived so if someone could take it off my hands I'd be most grateful. I leave London in the middle of July so will be unable to maintain TheWhoUK
  5. I've done this on numurous occations. I usually take a picture from my phone of me with cache container. and add it to online log. TheWhoUK
  6. I've got lots of these parcels at home because I know someone who works for a sports shop. I can send you some if you like. I did a trial on a cache container in my garden with a little bit od water in the container with about 4 SG parcels and found them to be ineffective even after 3 weeks. TheWhoUK
  7. Try com port 8. I had a real drama before getting my set up right with ipaq running cachemate and ibt gps. eventually tom tom program picked com port eight and it finally worked.
  8. I took up Geocaching to make walking more interesting. Due to injury I needed to walk as part of my physiotherapy / rehabilitation Geo caching gave me a goal to achieve whilst walking, in London I found this especially helpful. My job take me all over I intend to get as many caches on my travels. I'm off to Afghanistan next spring and laughed when I seen there's a few over there and will enjoy finding and helping to maintain them during my stay. Also I'm leaving London in July for Hampshire so a whole new patch discover. TheWhoUK

  12. Wobbly bridge on the south bank of the Thames good for small TB's well worth a visit at night with some other small Caches to do on the south bank. Also London letterbox as prevoiusly suggested. TheWhoUk
  13. Not cached there but done all three peaks a few times when living in Harrogate. I'd recommend the campsite in Horten in Ribblesdale. It's central to the peaks and the perk of a pub next to site for a hot scoff and a beer at the end of the day. Magic. I'd also reccommend a stay in Gordale scar nice village nearbye (Malham) and no doubt a few caches there. Mmmm got me thinking about a return trip now TheWhoUK

  18. Hi All, Anyone using these together? The reason I ask is mobile phone access through bluetooth is a bit expensive. I do have a 3G Dongle which I use with my laptop. I'm wondering if I can attach to PDA looking at it I would need a cable or adapter that will join these together. My PDA only has Ipaq connecting port at the bottom and my Dongle connect to laptop via a small cable with USB into laptop and Small USB (like a standard camera connection dont know the name of type but I hope you know what I mean) to the Dongle. Anybody using this I'd appreciate some advice. Thanks in Advance TheWhoUk
  19. Hi All, I've read this and still confused. I have a HP Ipaq HX2110 PDA with tom tom 5 software loaded is there a way to set it up so it will alert me to a cache site in any area I might be driving. Regards TheWhoUK

  22. Hi All I've had a GPSr in my kit list for years and only used it for emergency or mobile navigation in large featureless open ground. I've been using map and compass for years and I'm a fairly competent navigator. I'd say using map and compass make you plan ahead plotting your course and therefore an experienced map reader would only look at map occasionally and would be looking for confidence boosters (features) along the leg all from the memory of route/leg in his/her head. Only pulling map out when things don’t add up in your mind. Map reading is a skill and like a muscle must be exercised, it’s an essential skill for those who wander up mountains and remote caches as if all the gadgets go wrong you need know how to get out. As for the article, It’s all down to experience a competent person with GPSr technology would probably beat a poor map reader, and vice versa. TheWhoUK
  23. Hi, Just got a PDA from here. Can anybody reccommend a phone number for dial up connection to the internet free or low cost. I dont really need it as will do most jobs via my laptop. Regards TheWhoUK
