  1. All Lostboy1 Caches are up for adoption, I have since gone on active duty and am stationed far away and have no intention to return to the area.
  2. Fellow Geocachers, I am here to address a common issue and state a method of resolution. Although what I propose is totally of my opinion and idea, I welcome your feedback and support! I would like to address the issue of Caches and their owners. Im sure some of youhave come accross some hurting cache sites where the owner has neglected the cache for some time. Some of you have offered and have successfully adopted these caches to maintain their stature in geocaching. ( I have done such) I would like to focus upon ownership of caches and have more rules apply to owning caches. Firstly lets address new caches. How many of you have been to a new cache site to only find it thrown in some random place that seems out of place. Or have been brought to an area that is really not a good caching area. THis is a common problem I have found with caches placed by new cachers. I am proposing some new rules that'll help regulate finding such problems. Firstly a new cache should be placed by a seasoned cacher. One that has an excess of 50 finds, and has also found one of every type of cache. ie.. Traditional, mystery, multi, virtual, etc... With an exception of Event caches and earth caches. Secondly current owners of caches should also be active cachers. And a minium of 20 caches a year should be found by them. Consider this a type of "Cont. ED" of caching". Also a yearly update on ones profile should be done as well. THis will help to keep email addresses up to date and records up to date. My last proposal for this topic is required maintence runs. Once maybe twice a year. This is for the cache owners that dont take care of their goods. Maybe in the logs we can have a "spring Cleaning " or "winterization" listing that the cache owner can fill out to verify they did the maintence. With all this said I look foward to everyones feedback and support.
  3. OK well here is my idea for doing "Caches along a route" Expand the option for a user to report their cache finds. Make signing on as a user like a real account and seperate the cache listings as like a directory. When a user signs in have a tab to "Report finds" And with that option they can click to "look-up" the cache. Once they enter the log it'll be added to the cache page. And then on their account page it'll make a map of the area like the one used for preium members now. Then they can enter another cache find in that day.. THe page with the map on it has the date and the listings of the cache and the next however many are found. As each listing is added the map shows a colored line of the caches that were hit on that day. If there was only one cache find then just a general map of the area, if the cacher found 10 it will show where they started and ended on the map. Now Im sure your thinking what the heck is this kid talking about but here is more usless info about this.. This is something that a programmer can do to the site. With the log that was entered, when someone views it and reads past logs at the bottom corner of the box, you have a link option to "Show cachers route" or "cachers wander" and that will show that days listing of the cachers finds. Now others are able to see the route some people have gone in a day to find one or several caches..
