  1. I can toss out at least one answer based on having one of those few minority cachers as my hubby. Having been pulled over in the past for things as simple as DWB ( Driving While Black ) and actually having a local sheriff follow him home down our rural road because he was suspiciously out of place ( a neighbor heard that radio call over their scanner )... He's a little bit leery about lurking around in odd locations that raise the suspicions of the locals. There are unfortunately those that make some automatic assumptions about somebody based solely on the color of their skin here in rural Ohio. It doesn't stop him from caching obviously, but he is more cautious about where he goes after a cache - especially if he's solo and not with a group.
  2. You should be able to reinstall a fresh copy by deleting the app off of the phone and then going to the app store on the phone. Go to Updates and then tap Purchases at the top of the screen, and finally tap the Not on this iPhone tab. Scroll through the list until you find it & touch the cloud icon.
  3. Helpful changes for GC code search: let me delete the "GC" from the box, if you copy & paste into the box it's an extra step to get the cursor into the right spot after pasting to get rid of the extra set. Also please switch the "Search" and "Cancel" buttons. The search button is in an unnatural location in relation to the box you're typing in, and requires the extra step of switching back to "ABC" mode from "123" mode if the cache code ends in a number.
  4. Hey Warren, If you need some "in the field" testing by someone brave enough to take a chance with their own Jr.... Pick ME! Pick ME!! Pick ME!!! jazzbiscuit
  5. I ordered mine Saturday night from REI - it was waiting for me Tuesday night when I got home from work. Installed batteries, took it outside and it was pointing to my closest cache placed in our woods in a matter of a couple minutes. Walked right to it without trouble - even had a decent reading under the heavy leaves. So far, I'm impressed. My original thought when I first saw this thing was that it would be great for our summer 5000+ mile road trip - we stop in random places and I can always know if there is a cache nearby. I can hardly wait to really give it a real workout this weekend. My daily unit is an Oregon, but with all its bells and whistles - it's not much good if you don't have caches loaded for where ever you are. I'm anxiously waiting for the update kit, but out of the box it seems to have real potential.
  6. I'm still fairly new at the game, and from reading all of the TNLNSL type logs, "assumed" that was proper form for logging a find (if that's what the folks who have a few thousand finds leave, that must be how you do it....) I try to write more if there is something specific ( cache is missing lid, log is soaked, needs new log, found scary big snake in the tree above the cache...) but frequently I haven't left more interesting logs. Thanks for showing me the error of my logging ways - I'll try to do better.
