  1. I was not able to get to any Geocaches while I was in Hyderabad India, they were just too far away. I did place a waymark at the Ista hotel but no one has logged it.

There is a reporter looking to interview Geocachers in India, would anyone be interested in talking to them? If so drop me an email and I will forward along the contact information.

    Cheers,

  2. Are there any Geocachers in Hyderabad? I see there are caches in Deli and in Agra but they are quite some distance.

I figured being in IT City there must be people who would be interested in geocaching.

I have been debating to take a flight up to Deli to get some of the caches!

I will be here until July 3/09 so if anyone is in the area and interested in heading north to grab some caches drop me a note!!

  3. [

I was just perusing the e-place and saw listings for the new Oak Island coin. Shipping? a whopping $6.00 from Nova Scotia to the US. I know from trading with NS collectors it is less than $2.00.

Well the shipping for the Oak Island coin is about 4.70 canadian just the shipping costs. not including the packing. So for 5.00 to ship to the US it is not bad at all.

The rates were raised again from Canada Post. If what you are shipping is not paper then it has to be shipped as a parcel which is normally 4.70.

  4. The Oak Island geocoin celebrates Nova Scotia's original mystery cache. 213 years of DNFs and counting!

This coin is 45mm round and 4 mm thick. It has an edge die of the codes that were found at the oak Island site along with the tracking number. There were 250 coins made. Of that, 75 are gold, 85 Nickel, 75 copper plated.(there is also an artist edition which are not for sale). This coin is trackable on Geocaching.com and has it own icon.

In 1795, 16-year-old Daniel McGinnis discovered a circular depression in a clearing on the southeastern end of the island with an adjacent tree which had a tackle block on one of its overhanging branches. McGinnis, with the help of friends, excavated the depression and discovered a layer of flagstones a few feet below. As they dug down they discovered layers of logs at about every ten feet. They abandoned the excavation at 30 feet.

For 213 years treasure hunters have sought to unravel the secret of the pit. Floods, booby traps, deaths and mysterious inscriptions have fueled speculation over what riches might be hidden here, and who might have hidden it. Even President Franklin Roosevelt became part of an exploration group, and kept up with news and developments for most of his life.

Theories about who created the money pit are just about as plentiful as the groups who have tried to find it. Some say it holds the pirate treasure of Henry "Long Ben" Every, Edward "Blackbeard" Teach, or even William "Captain" Kidd. Others believe it is naval treasure hidden by Spanish sailors, or by British troops during the American revolution. Some say it was constructed by French army engineers to hold the treasury of Fortress Louisbourg during the French and Indian War.

Still more fanciful theories say it contains the lost jewels of Marie Antoinette; proof that Francis Bacon penned all the plays of William Shakespeare; or even the final hiding place constructed by exiled Knights Templar for the Holy Grail.

  7. This may be your chance to learn some of the history and theories about the treasure.

Oak Island is home to one of the great stories of treasure and mystery!

The island is privately owned and is not opened to the general public...... BUT!!!!

There is going to be an event coming up soon in which you could win a walking tour around the island. The opportunity for the general public to see the island is available for two day's only out of the year!

Watch for more details on the upcoming Geocaching event!!! (and try to keep the end of June opened)

  8. That sure is a dandy coin you are offering. :) But, the coin in your avitar - where can I get ahold of one of those???

    CF30

We only produced 100 of those and they are all over the world now!!

I personally only have three that I kept, two mounted in hiking sticks and one in our portfolio binder. There is at least one wandering around as a travel bug. Last time I saw it move it was in Austrailia..

  9. So come and visit our website and have a look around.

FYI, comments like that will get the thread closed. Promoting a coin is okay, promoting a commercial enterprise is not kosher on the forums.

    Thank you for your concern...

But there is no link to our main site which is and has been an Official Dealer for Groundspeak for many many years...

Just helping promote the sport and promoting Groundspeak official swag.......

  10. This coin was unveiled at the MARC II Geocache Bash (GC19Z8K) on May 3, 2008

in Lunenburg, NS. Most coins were sold at the event. For those who were

not able to attend, a few are now available for sale on this site.

    The 3 Geeks Outdoor Store

This was the 2nd Annual MARC Geocache Bash and was promoted by the

Municipality of the District of Lunenburg. The Municipality are avid

supporters of geocaching as an equal recreational opportunity for all having

caches located in their parks throughout the county.

For this event only 135 coins made. This is a 1.5 inch coin and is 3mm

thick. The coin is trackable on Geocaching.com and has it own Icon. The coin

is only available in Satin Silver.

So come and visit our website and have a look around.

  11. We had a BLAST this weekend camping at Graves Island and celebrating the 7th Anniversary of the 1st Cache in Canada!

The turnout was larger this year again and everyone had a great time!

I just wanted to thank the folks who organised this year’s event.

    check it out here: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...c5-58f49e4be264

    Looking forward to next years!

Come visit the 1st Cache placed in Canada and celebrate with us!

  12. My auctions were removed completely, no warning, no phone calls, email nothing...

Just an email afterwards saying don't do it again or you will be banned..

I am not too impressed with Ebay at this point.

  13. If you find the shipping charge jumps up really high please send us an email. The store is automated but if you have questions or issues with the charge please email us.

Most coin orders will ship for a resonable price even if a couple other items are added depending on the item.

  14. We do the same with the yellow envelopes but also use packing tape on all 4 edges. This will make it even harder for the coins to break free!!!

Sometimes coins really really want to travel.. :(

  15. to tell you the truth, I was going to order 3 and 1 of your micro but didn't feel like paying the $14.00 for shipping.... Sorry!

I am afraid that it was the Micro that put you into our regular shipping rate to the US. 3 or 4 coins is $5.00 shipping to the US. We can ship at a cheaper rate for our regular products, but it would not come with any insurance. Unfortunately in Canada, shipping costs that require tracking and insurance are not cheap. I wish we could ship for the same rates like in the US.

    Anyway, thanks for the feedback.

  16. The first Cape Breton Island Geocoin. This coin is trackable on Geocaching.com and has it own icon. It is in the shape of Cape Breton Island. Only 250 trackable coins were made. The coin was minted in Antique Silver (75) and Black Nickel (175).

On the back of each coin is "Ciad Mile Failte". This is Scottish Gaelic for "A Hundred Thousand Welcomes". Also "Lorgadh sibh e aig:" is Scottish Gaelic for "you will find it at".

Along with the Gaelic, the colors were specifically chosen to represent Cape Breton Island.

BLACK for the wealth of our coal mines (Black Nickel)

GREY for our Cape Breton steel (Antique Silver)

  19. This looks like fun so here goes!

We will be giving away one of our copper trade only Canadian benchmark micro coins to the person who wins.

We are having an open house/customer appreciation New Years gathering tonight and would like you to guess how many people we will have here.

It will be two guess per person and if there are duplicate guesses the first post will count. If no one gets the answer we will pick the closest.

I have not idea how many will show up but I suspect it will be less than 60 people.

    Good luck!

I will take a look tomorrow Jan 1/2007 at 12:00pm Atlantic to make the draw!
