  1. I once tried to explain geocaching to a suspicious security guard, but I think the whole idea of hidden boxes scattered all over the place scared her, and she threatened to call the police if I didn't leave.
  2. I love geocaches in irrigation/sewer tunnels. Especially multis or ones with multiple branches. It's super spooky to be down there with only a flashlight, and there's usually water to wade through, so I feel like Indiana Jones exploring ancient temple ruins or something.
  3. The average human body contains enough iron to make a 3 inch nail and enough water to fill a ten gallon tank! Thanks for the cointest!
  4. That's exactly what I was trying to ask specifically, but I couldn't put it into words. Thank you for making that clear.
  5. I recently found a cache in North Carolina that was located about a mile into an underground drainage/runoff/sewer tunnel. It's the kind of tunnels that are under most cities that you can access through manholes or various entrances. It was a really cool cache, and I am planning on placing at least one like it where I live (southern California), but I was wondering if there is any way to search for or find out about similar caches that have already been placed in my area. I don't want to have to read through the descriptions for every cache in a thirty mile radius of my house hoping to get lucky, so if anyone has any tips or information about such caches, I would be really grateful. Caches in natural caves would be awesome too!
  6. Why does Google.com have such a great design with all the images and Google.de not?!? This is not fair... This new design is pretty recent. Like maybe a month old? It used to be normal image search.
  7. It's Momo the flying lemur. http://mimg.ugo.com/201006/47223/cuts/momo...vie_480x360.jpg
  8. I found a condom in a cache by my house recently. Apparently someone thought this would be a good idea for a joke, because there was a handwritten note taped to it that said "play safe " That's the worst I've ever found, but I've seen plenty of empty mint or gum packets, and once I found used gum folded up in the wrapper. I think people figure it's better to leave it there than on a trail, but it's just gross.
  9. A large ceramic rooseter sculpture that I gave to my neighbor for Christmas. She was so pleased that I remembered her...
  10. Their account was banned... so how would they log the trackables out?
  11. When I go with my group, what we say depends on where the cache is located. Our favorite phrase is "Saints preserve us!" said with a very loud and abrasive Irish accent (comes out as, "SAINTS PARSARVUS"). The most memorable use of this phrase was when we finally spotted a cache suspended from a tree branch 30 feet or so from the ground. It was repeated more urgently and at a higher frequency the farther above the ground I climbed. Needless to say, the saints did indeed preserve me, as I did not fall to my death or become impaled on a tree branch . After that, the phrase became a sort of good luck ritual for when we found caches that were dangerous to obtain.
