  1. I have a TB hotel, well I call it a Hostel There was one near my town that was not that quick to get to and just filling up with trash and not maintained. After it was archived there really were not any easily accessible, secure and large enough caches in town other than a bunch of micros and very small caches, so I decided to place one in my yard. Pretty secure, very quick and easy to get to. I have seen some that have "rules" like that. I have talked to a couple hotel COs about it when I was building mine it seems the reasoning behind it is just so there are in theory TBs always in them. But that being said it's silly I think to make rules like that. I check my cache regularly and there are often TBs that were taken and not logged. But I have also had it were there are several in there and someone comes along and takes all of them, but that is the game isn't it? I figure my cache is big enough if people want a safe place to put them, that won't get muggled that's cool otherwise there are always cool trade items I think if your going to have a TB Hotel or such the CO needs to keep up on the inventory to help people like yourself, thats just my opinion.
  2. I had that happen with a couple of mine. One I put in a cache I had just placed and the next day I went to add some pens to the cache someone had taken the TB and wrote on the paper log FTF, took TB. No name, no date, nor did they log it online. Another TB I had placed in one of my caches was taken by someone said he was gonna "take it south" that was over 2 years ago. Haven't heard from it since, and looking at the cachers page his last online visit was 2 days after he logged taking the TB. A third one this last summer was taken from a cache, and then given to another cacher to keep it moving, and it wasn't even logged out of the cache, so who knows where any of them are. Not much you can do about it but your right it is annoying! I just keep sending them out, cause it is fun to see them travel!
  3. I have 16 out plus one on my car. Sadly though out of that 11 are known MIA, 1 most likely MIA, 2 others are in the hands of but haven't been logged or anything for over 3 months. Leaving 2 still happily traveling all over, and the one on my car that seems to get discovered every few months.
  4. Mine didn't even make it out of the first cache. It was my very first (and probably last) TB. I'm from Canada so I had to order it from the states. With shipping it ended up costing me 10.00 Yeah I didn't add shipping into that cost but yeah I understand! I had two of my TB's disappear just like yours. I released them into a new cache I placed and few days later I got a message saying the TB's were not in the cache. They were never heard from again I even contacted the 4 or 5 people that had visited the cache prior to them with no luck.
  5. Yeah I just released the last two tags I have been holding onto into my TB Hostel. Sadly I think between them costing 5 dollars a piece and the fact that they will most likely end up MIA for whatever reason is not worth it anymore.
  6. I was caching after work in Cortez, CO. It was a cache on the top of a little hill, nice park bench up on it, and an awesome view of Mesa Verde and of the Sleeping Ute Mtn. After searching and determining it was not on the bench, the search came to the rocks. After about the 3rd rock I lifted up there was a little baggy full of a yellow crystal looking substance and a little baggy full of green plant like material. Attached to one was a phone number and a note for X to call to know where to drop off the money. Hmmmm What could this be....... So a quick photo on the cell phone, txt with a location to the local PD and within 15 minutes a PD and county Sheriff were there. They were super easy to work with. I told them what I was doing and one just happened to be a cacher. They told me they had heard about this being a "drop" spot but couldn't ever catch anyone as there are 4 different trailheads to get to this hill and you can see for 1/4 mile each way. The conversation they had laughing about the idiot who put his number and the name of the person buying it on the baggy was hilarious!
  7. There are a few in central Colorado like that. I visited a few along a narly 4x4 jeep trail known as Carnage Canyon that hadn't been logged in a year or so when I got to them and it was another 8 months or more before they were logged again. Although if my memory serves me two of them were signed but never logged online.
  8. Its been a disappointing summer for me in terms of my TBs. Seems like the last couple months a few have up and left. Counting the one on my car I have 17. Out of that, 5 I have marked MIA, 3 are suspected to be MIA, and 2 more are in the hands of cachers that haven't logged anything in the last 6-12 months.
  9. I have a bug that was just placed in a cache that has the note "This cache is temporarily unavailable. Read the logs below to read the status for this cache". It has been disabled since August. Turns out the CO is no longer caching or something. It appears some local cachers have adopted it but cannot change its status so it shows disabled. I when I see disabled caches I tend to pass over them. I hope that my TB does not get stuck there
  10. I have seen some pretty lousy caches placed by very experienced cachers too though....
  11. Hit me up next time your in central Colorado
  12. Tweezers for some of the micros and the evil nano caches.
  13. Welcome! Thats how I got started with this! Out hiking and came across a cache and thought wow cool!
  14. 98% of the time I am caching by myself. I have not really met any other local cachers. I know they exsist but I am not so sure they are that active. Strangely I have yet to really meet any other cachers either. I happened to run into a few this last summer that kind of looked like Inigo Montoya on princess bride looking for the secret tree with his sword but with there GPS's so I helped them find the cache they were after and a couple others but thats been it really.
  15. In my area I often see cars parked in odd spots along highways or something and see people wandering around lost. I used to think now what on earth are they doing until I learned about this game and that those off the wall spots were cache locations. Now I see that and I am like I'm on to you guys or I laugh and think ha good luck your not even in the right spot!! Usually honk and wave and they give me that dont mind us we are just on our cell phones or taking a picture look.
  16. Done! Right on thanks for the help!
  17. Right, thats what it should have done but it did not update right. So it wouldnt let me click on the state drop down it just gave me the N/A. So is there anyway to go back and change that now that the bug is activated and released into the wild?
  18. I activated a TB yesterday but under the Origin part it would only let me select the country and not the state. Does anyone know how to change the Origin state to the correct state?

    Etiquette

I have one thats been held since Jan 1st. I know winter has been kind of brutal where its at so I am giving them the benefit of the doubt that they have been held up by the winter and that it will be re released into the wild soon. I personally think if someone takes a trackable they should try to drop it into another cache within 1-3 weeks and if for some reason they can't they could easily email and let the owner know whats up.
