  1. MAX CACHER needs the staff. He also deserves it. Tuck
  2. I don't know if this is too late, but if not, I have really enjoyed the caches in Warner Park when visiting from west TN. Check out GCN4VV and then search from there. Lots of different types of caches in a really senic park. Tuck
  3. Check this Thread in the Getting Started Forum http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=87556 it has a lot of good ideas for new cachers. Keep caching, it gets easier and we all have DNF's.
  4. Anyone living between the Mississippi and Tennessee Rivers and reading these forums would enjoy coming to this event. Those you you in Eastern Ark. and Northern Mississippi please come and join us. This meeting is guaranteed to be a Hoot, or at least have one.
  5. This topic made me wonder, so I did some math and ... From zipcode 38135 ( SW Tenn) 10 miles = 107 caches = 1 per 3 sq. miles 25 miles = 216 caches = 1 per 9 sq. miles 50 miles = 246 caches = 1 per 31 sq. miles 100 miles = 454 caches = 1 per 69 sq. miles There are a few cachers in my area that have placed some real quality caches and I am fortunate to be able to hunt for them. Having cached in other states I know that more is not always better. Read the Logs before you go.
  6. Primofam Thanks for your work. The coins look great and arrived in time to be given to family visiting from out of town. Your efforts are appreciated.
  7. It's good to know that it wasn't just the new GPSr that I got for Christmas. Somehow my son-in-law and I went 18 for 18 yesterday, but we realized that every thing was 20 to 40 feet off because we started with ones that I had all ready found and then adjusted accordingly for the rest. The strangest thing was when while in a belt pouch ( hiking out from a find in the rain ) alarms started going off and then when I pulled it out back at the truck I had lost all stored way points. Anyone out there have an expaination for this? Thanks for the help.
  8. While I have never had the privledge of meeting Robert Lipe I would like to thank him and the other MTGC cachers for the good times I have had hunting their caches. I also appreciate his articles on using a Magellan GPSr. I will be needing even more help after Christmas when I get to unwrap my new Merigold. Thanks to everyone for their comments. Beside finding a webmaster, what do we need to do next? Is there anyway to bring this idea to the attention to other area cachers who may not read the forums? Should we have an event cache to get organized ? If so, any ideas for a location that would be accessible to those in NW TN and the Jackson area as well as Shelby county? Keep those cards and letters coming in while it's raining, Oh wait, we cache in the rain too.
  9. Spencersb, You might want to check out these sites for ideas and /or possible contacts http://webpages.charter.net/awhitster/poisonoakcachers http://www.coloradogeocaching.com/ http://www.houstoncachers.org/ http://groups.yahoo.com/group/SATXgeocachers/ Hope this will help. Tuck
  10. Here is my tongue for Spencersb. My feelings are almost identical to those of Bartster with a dash of Gib and a bit of Bit. With a "name" and some literature it could open doors to allow us to place caches places where we have trouble placing them now. It might also help if we want to promote the sport with a display at a wellness fair or do a presentation to a group (its the teacher coming out of me). I would like a local forum for a selfish reason. I would use it to find someone to go caching with me when I go after some of the more backwoods caches as a safety factor, that would relieve some of my wife's stress. She likes it better when I am with someone else and sends the rewards with me. Count me in. I will do whatever I can to help. One of the Five
  11. Yes, Yes, Yes it is. The bugs go away. The poision ivy dies. Fewer thorns. Leaves fall for better reception. Then, just as you get on a roll and start racking up the caches, it will start raining. So you wait a few days for it to clear and then head back into the woods, and when you come home your wife will not understand how you got so muddy on a clear day. My son comes here from CO to cache in the winter because all the best caches there have FEET of snow on them. Let me know when you want to go.
  12. Primofam, You might want to check Colorado Geocoins - Co Geocoins in the West forums. There is a lot of discussion and several pictures of other coins
  13. Saturday afternoon's are good for me, execpt for the third weekend each month when I have to drive boats for my rich uncle. I missed the hot wings because I don't check the forums enough, so, Bitbrain or Chuck please let me know when a final date is set. thanks.
  14. I would like to attend but it needs to be after 6 AUG for me. Thanks for the idea.
  15. Tstar, I saw on Jamie Z's page that you attended his dinner in Dallas. Thanks to you and the Texas cachers for being nice to another Memphis cacher. We will have to keep coming to Texas. Tuck
  16. I will be visiting family in Garland in June and would like to have some suggestions for caches in the area. I found "Spining Wheel" and a few others the last time I was here so I know there are some great ones out there. What ones are your favorites and why? I can bring my Mt. bike if that would help. Thanks for your help.
