  1. Nova Scotia and the Atlantic provinces have a geocaching association, ACGA (Atlantic Canada Geocaching Association). Knock Knock! Who's there? Zizi Zizi who? Zizi when you know how
  2. That was a good one Keystone luv'd it
  3. Welcome to Geocaching, you and your boys will have a great time I’m sure. And all the above replies are excellent. But let’s start a little further back, you mention you are new to this game (I’ve only been in it 6 months myself with the exact same model as you have) so one of the best places I went for gps training was the web. I’d suggest http://geocacher-u.com and look for “Geocaching 101 & 201”, these will explain many functions of the gps as well as of the game itself. Also U-Tube and of course this site and its forums will help too. You inquire about data interface cable, be careful in choosing there are many different types, Your Xtrex will take a PC Interface cable – 010-10206-00 which if you google any stores that sell gps’s they should have them, also there is ebay but again be careful because some sell bare wiring (one end has no connector). Once you’ve gotten PCIC it will only connect to a serial port and if you’re like me, would rather have it connected to a convenient usb port. To do that you will have to purchase an adapter, I got mine thru Radioshack here in Canada, I’m sure you can find one close to where you live. If you go this route remember to download Garmin’s Communicator Plugin so that the PC and you Xtrex understand each other. Then have some fun, it is true, look first for the easiest of finds, larger caches (micro’s and nano’s can frustrate you quickly at first, even later) with easy terrain and difficulty factors. Happy hunting and Season Greetings.
  4. Congratulations and thanks for the coin contest.
  5. Halifax played a role in the American Revolution, it was the staging point for many attacks on controlled rebel forces in the Thirteen Colonies. Knock Knock! Who's there? Unite. Unite who? Unite a person, you call him Sir.
  6. Lunenburg's architecture reflects a strong European influence. Knock Knock! Who's there? Adore. Adore who? Adore stands between us, open up!
  7. Well seeing that the prize is a 2008 Lunenburg County Cachers geocoin, let’s start there. Old Town Lunenburg was first designated as a National Historic District by the Canadian Federal government in 1992; in 1995 it was name to the World Heritage List for its outstanding universal value and only the second urban community in Continental North America to be included. The honour is immortalized in an eight-foot granite and bronze monument cast at Lunenburg Foundry. Knock Knock! Who's there? Thisle Thisle who? Thisle have to hold you.
  8. Merry Christmas BVnLJ and to all those who posted, there were some great pictures and video to get you into the spirit of Christmas. Special thanks to LJ for running this contest lets all do this again next year . Now it's time to get into the turkey and another type of spirit
  9. 34 Merry Christmas and Happy New Year...EVERYONE
  10. Merry Christmas to the "All" the Volunteers and all Geocachers, may the New Year bring you the cache finds you are looking for.
  11. *please* tell me you didn't pay $10 for this quarter! If someone did this to you then they are absolutely a thief! Nice coin! Is that a real Canadian coin???? No these and others are in circulation with its actual value, but I am thinking of adding this coin to a geocoin that is selling right now and placing it in a cache for our American friends (There is a story behind all this http://www.cbc.ca/news/story/2007/05/07/te...py-quarter.html ) The Canadian mint does how ever sell some outstanding coin at a profit (of course) .50 coin for $26 and a $25 coin for $95 But you know your a geocoin addict when you look at these and start dreaming of creating your own (I think the canadian mint has been stealing geocoin ideas to make their coin attractive to sell)
  13. You know you’re a geocoin addict when there's 6 inches of snow to be removed from the driveway and you’re on this forum writing messages about geocoins. Moderator this message may be moved to .. how I hate having to shovel snow which takes away from me look at geocoins and cache sites that have geocoins which I’ll visit when all 4 feet of snow is gone … about the middle of June
  14. You know you're a geocoin addict when the coin forum is first site you check after waking up...
  15. “You know “you’re”a Geocoin addict when ……” It would be inappropriate of me to participate in this cointest due to the fact I do not have an addiction to geocoins, I don’t, honest. Just because I’ve ordered 14 coins in the past month, and the first page I go to in Groundspeak is the coin page looking for sales or cointests & trades, does not qualify me. Again and I hear your snickers out there, I do not have a geocoin addiction, there. Ok, I have this little problem, could you include me in this cointest, Pleassseee
  16. My first trading mission, can't wait to see who & where I have to send mine.... Signed Up: Dec. 15/08 Received Name: Sent Package: Received Package: Merry Christmas All....now I feel in the spirit
  17. Hey PatriotARK, Welcome to caching, first must admit I only started 4 months ago myself so where I went for some grat info was http://www.geocacher-u.com/ take geocaching 101 & 102 both will get you well underway. OBTW I started with the yellow Etrex, Santa was real good and purchased a Colorado, though I'm not too know. Have fun and search the web, there's video and audio lessons and great ideas on what you can do.
  18. In a recent thread on the COG site there seemed to be a simular problem, I've copied their response, hope it helps. Re: Magellan Explorist 600 You need to export the data, ie. from the File menu, select Export, then Magellan eXplorist and give it a filename. I don't know if you can place it directly on the eXplorist or whether you create the file on your pc and copy it over to the GPS. I presume you're trying to "send" the waypoints from the GPS menu. That's for older Magellan units like my MerriColor (Meridian).
  19. Well it has been snowing now for at least 18 hrs so you might say "Mother Nature" has done all the decorating . We live up on Georgian Bay about 100 miles north of Toronto in the Winter Wonderland.
  20. He's in the very heart of it, New York New York Happy Birthday
  21. Congrats everyone and thank you for the contest WSR.
  22. Ok How about a picture of "Dubya" on one side and famous quotes on the other, such as; "I'll be long gone before some smart person ever figures out what happened inside this Oval Office." "My most important job is to defend the homeland, to protect innocent Americans from the deaths of the killers." "It's in our country's interests to find those who would do harm to us and get them out of harm's way." "I know what I believe. I will continue to articulate what I believe and what I believe — I believe what I believe is right." and my personal fave "We got an issue in America. Too many good docs are gettin' out of business. Too many OB/GYNs aren't able to practice their — their love with women all across this country." Tracking numbers on the side
