  1. DUH??? Tried it and it worked just like you said... Sometimes I really need to think just a bit more.... Thanks
  2. I have a 60CSx and after several years of marking waypioints I am in the 200s as far as number assignment. I have deleted most of the old waypoints or assigned names after getting home. I would like to start back at 001. Is there a method for starting over with the numeric assignments without losing waypoints? I typically just hit save waypoint which always assigns the next available number. Thanks
  3. I think I may have found my problem? When I open BlueChart I see the Nav Charts covering the area of interest. Then I click on utilities and get a drop down. The book indicates I should have several tabs one of whcih should be GPS? I don't show that tab. I think it may be because I have not registered my handheld unit? I have tried to use my unlock code and customer code via the unlock wizard and it continues to tell me it can't connect to the internet.? Interesting is that I was able to transfer my track and wypts?
  4. Nroute? Sorry for my ignorance but heres what I got. I have a 60CSx and my computer. I have hooked up the units and transfered Mapsource maps, waypoints and tracks. I also have Garmin Bluechart on my PC.. I am trying to use the PC screen like a large GPS Screen while moving. I am working on a project while on a large boat where I need to use my 60 and my laptop as we track/search. I'm not sure what Nroute is? I will got to my software now and try to locate this? Any additional info is appreciated. Thanks

  6. How? I have hooked it up to my 60 but I cannot determine how to get it to show my location and direction of movement live? thanks
  7. Is it posible to use your GPS (60CSx) while attached it the computer and have it depict the current location via BlueChart?? Thanks
  8. There have been several issues with the 400, not sure they have them all worked out just yet? If your already ok with spending that kind of money take a strong look at the Garmin 60CSx or if you can wait just abit check out the Delorme PN40.. The 60 has been around and all the bugs have been worked out. The PN40 although new to the scene is just a tricked out PN20 and I'm sure Delorme has their ducks in a row.
  9. The 60 has become the "Gold Standard" in recent years. You ask is it too much? Other than cost I have to answer NO. I personally like and use most of the features and button layout fits my style. The 76 is layed out with the buttons above the screen so you may want to try it before you buy one. Regarding the water proof issue. The 60 will do just fine in wet conditions. Drop it over board it will sink, the 76 floats but it's a larger unit. Antenna receiption? The 60 doesn't mind what angle you hold it (hense the antenna ) while the 76 prefers to be held horizontial. To me signal acquisition is paramount and the rest is frills. The 60 series takes this category hands down whether it is in my pack while hunting in a heavily treed, very steep and tight valley.
  10. The 60 or the Co? Oh you have started something now. A few points you can't argue... The 60 has been around and most of the kinks worked out. The CO is new and based on reviews there are still some issues to be fixed.... The CO cost more..... I vote 60CSx. Now let me go make some popcorn this should be good....
  11. Anyone have any valid links to deals on Invisible Shield screen protectors? Found some old post about 1/2 price deals but they have expired. I have used their product on several units and was pleased. Just hate to pay the full price plus shipping for several large sets.
  12. Not much more to say.... Garmin,,, H,,,,,something.
  13. I have the 60CSx and it seems to never lose a signal even in deep cover. However the Vista is abit smaller and typically cost abit less. The only difference for me was the 60 holds a signal no matter which way you hold the unit and the Vista prefers to be held horizontal. I tend to throw it in my pocket or pack and wanted it to keep on tracking, thats why I picked the 60. Try to get both units in hand that may help her decide. Determine which unit feels best to her. Determine which screen she can see the best. Decide how important signal receiption is even if in a pocket or pack. Good Luck
  14. Hi, Beck The Parks spftware is 1:24,000 scale while the Topo is 1:100,000 scale. Needless to say the 24k is has more detail and contour detail. Regarding your question about secondary roads I'm not sure if topo has all that you're looking for and really can't say Nat Parks will have them all either for sure. I have the Topo on my 60 and it serves me well but I am wilderness hiking not in the Parks. If you want things like trail heads shelters etc... you will need the Nat Park software. If you want 24k detail of places other than parks take a look at Delorme. Great topo software however the maps will not transfer to you 60. Waypoints and tracks will just not the actual maps. Hope this helps.
  15. No fault of yours but this comparsion hits the board atleast twice a month. Search the post and it will cover all the high points. Bottom line, both will serve you well. If you want the best topo software going, Delorme is for you.. If signal strength/lock is priority maybe Garmin 60 series. But that really only shows if you are hiking through heavy cover and deep valleys. Average locations there is no difference. If an electronic compass is a need then Garmin. If cost matters, Delorme will end up cheaper. Garmin software cost extra. Customer service, Garmin is really good. Delorme outstanding...
  16. Anyone had issues witht he 3.6 on the Gamrin 60CSx units. Just downloaded it today, hate to think it brought problems with it...
  17. Not the first time this question has posted... Take a look at these http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=188459 or search pn20 60 Csx theres been tons of discusion on these two....
  18. The Garmin customer service is pretty good. The Delorme service is outstanding! Not saying Garmin doesn't or won't help, they have responded and worked out some issues for me. However the Delorme folks practically make you feel guilty for asking they are so helpful.. Great people to deal with for sure...
  19. This question/comparsion comes through every week or so. Kinda like coke or pepsi, both are good some folks like one some folks like the other. If you want in hand best topos, Delorme If you want electronic compass (which some folks love) garmin. Fastest screenload Garmin Lower cost Delorme Button arrangement? you'll have to decide Battery life, about equal Signal reception, the Delorme is good, but the garmin tends to rate just a click higher in most reviews. Screen/image appearance, it's comes down to what you like and what works for your eyes. Get them both in hand first. The differences are few, that is why it is a tuff call. Either unit will serve you well. Let us know which way you go...
  20. Softball, I'm sure you will be very pleased with your choice. I know a lot of folks use recharge batteries but I have not trouble with good throw aways. They last for days and I am constantly pushing buttons and power up and down.. Pretty easy to just through in another set and keep hiking..
  21. Softball, Go with the 60CSx you will spend alittle nore but will have no regrets. It has been on scene long enough to have all the bugs worked out and you rarely see a negative remark about it. The only question is whether you need an electronic compass and or altimeter? If you don't need those feature go with the Cs or the PN-20. For years I used them without it but now love it. I hate starting off the wrong direction. With the 60CSx that is a thing of the past.
  22. Have Invisible Shield on three units, alittle pricey if full price but great stuff.
  23. OK, so it ends up scratched and you can send it back for a replacement for shipping cost. Then install with plenty of liquid.
  24. Had basically the same thing happen with my 60 CSx. The next unit I did I made sure it was WET and the stuff worked great. One thing aboue Invisbleshield, if the mistake starts bothering you just pull it off and turn it in for the free replacement. You only have to buy it once.
