  1. 10 caches since 2001 and only a member since 2-2006 What gives? Its about the fun of it all and reading other folks logs. Hey try a PUC cache. Look it up, by team vinny and sue. Its extreme. If you aren't hooked by one of theirs there is no hope for you in this life.
  2. How about one that works............ If you get one that uses oddball batteries, you know the expensive ones.... I.E. other than AAA, AA, C or D cells its a waste of money. And you REALLY should use rechargeable batteries. that is if you are a serious Cacher and CARE about out Environment. Bad batteries Photo 123/2013, used to be a CVR 3 or something.. $6 a pop.. one battery any battery other than AAA or AA for a digital camera. A group of us just did PUC 8 and 10, the onnly flashlight that died had new batteries and they weren't AA's or C cells. Plus they had been bought the day before.. LOL $12.00
  3. I was out caching and these two guys pull upand ask me if I'm Geocaching. I, like a fool thinking they are fellow Cachers, gave a witty retort. The driver than flashs his badge, they were Game and Fish Officers. I quickly appologized and we had a nice chat. They were concerned because of all the Geocaching being done in the area and that during hunting seasonnone of them were wearing orange. He then warned me about the quality of the hunters. YIKES!!!!
  4. Okay all you FTF fans, checkout my pals FTF cache GCP142 Mike always has GREAT caches, whether you're the FTF or the FTF or even second third.........
  5. Gee, some of these, if true make my $5.00 Starbucks cards cheap. As for the one with the round-trip airline tickets, I noticed it didn't say to where............
  6. switchdoc had a good tip.... if the web ain't broken the cache ain't there. better yet if you find a fellow cacher wrapped in spider silk..BEWARE. you can also use their old, dead, dried out limbs to poke around with. hey better them than you.
  7. Ammo cans are underrated. If they still have their seal in good shape they can last for a good long while under some varying and extreme conditions. One local cacher here in Delaware, Mike Ott, has a cache called "Islands In The Stream", GCG1ZP, and as the name implies it is on an island in a stream. The amazing thing is that its survived several floods, one an extreme one where it was under atleast 6-8 ft of angry water, its been frozen, snowed on and survived the heat as well. And, the little ammo can survives. The only thing, I can think of, that will ruin it will be the day the tree its strapped to by a cable washes away, then it will be a traveling cache.
  8. You'd hate my latest hints ..... Just Find It and It could be covered with snow Both for the same cache
  9. I've abducted, such a nasty word..... how about.... convinced... better, I've convinced several Aliens that I'm their friend, then I've shrunk them and placed them in caches. I'm up to about 20 or so now and still looking
  10. Hey, whats a little urine. In Caching either urine or you're not. It could have been worse, count your blessings.
  11. Just climb the tree. Come on folks, you call your self Geocachers. That is unless it has a nice protective wrap of Posion Ivy. It that case do what Treasure Hunters suggested, break out the chain saw. Then get the cache, sign the log, make trade, replace cache "up" the tree and go log it. What could be easier?????? lol.
  12. Never while caching. But, loads of other times while running. One of my first was on a nice noontime run. On the back section of the trail was a small creek with a nice little bridge over it well, as I round the coner and head to cross the creek I see them, he standing she kneeling in front of him right in the middle of the bridge. I took the creek in a single bound, not using the bridge. He heard me and sorta glanced at me with glazed eyes, other than that they kept to their business. In the parking lot of the park I often run in there is often, very often, a couple that meets to,uhhhh, have lunch together. The first time they saw me they left,in a hurry. Now, they realize I'm not a spy for one of their spouses and tend to the businnes at hand.
  13. What about the ladies lying in the sun as caches ? What coconuts ?
  14. You all................. JUNG N OHAPU BS JUVAARF !!!!!! V YBIR TBBSL PYHRF. NQQF GB GUR SHA.
  15. If at first you don't succeed, go back. I have one hidden in plain site at or near a Starbuck's "Estrella's SBUX REDUX" and one guy had to go back five timebefore he found it. I love it. And don't feel bad I've had a few that I had to go to several times before finding them. Usually you give yourself a mental headslap when you find 'em. So. GO BACK!!!! NOW. Today before the sun sets.
  16. In my pack?? Geeee thats sorta persoanl ya know. Okay, here goes. Extra ziplock baggies trach bag for CITO work camera extra batteries more batteries trade goodies pens in various stages of working extra GPS'r old Garmin 12 (love it) stuff six pack of beer cooler for beer kayak paddle for kayak sleeping bag coleman stove complete setof gourmet cookware cook food for gourmet meels on the fly tuxedo for fancy caches inflatable doll, gotta have a date for them fancy caches complete set of World Book encyclopedias and then i occasionally toss in a few cooies for the trek to the cache I think thats all, really, I like to travel light. happy cachin'
  17. I say altitude does matter. I did alittle caching in and or around Albuquerque, N.M.( Yes Texas it is a STATE...the 47th, came in before Arizona). This particular cache was in the wonderful Sandia Mountains just east of Albuquerque, the cache owner had hidden two sort of close together. I found the first one after a steep climb at about 6,500ft..The second was named if i remember was called "Got Lazy Here", its was a mere quarter mile away and about 2,000 ft higher. Yes that's 2,000.. TWO THOUSAND FEET. Sure it was at the posted coords from the center of the earth, but that fails to take terrain into consideration. In conclusionas far as the posted coords are cocerned it don't matter, but in reality, it matters.
  18. I hate to sing in on this, ha ha. But, don't do the music, unless its so low no one can hear it and then, hey what's the point? And don't pick you nose in public.
  19. I like your basic idea, up till the point where you nail them to the tree.... How about just tying them to a tree limb. Less offensive, to the tree esprcially. How'd you like some tree to nail pinecones to you? And I wonder like the other person....You took them why? Glad you helped clean up, sort of a CITO. How do the smell? Okay, I know they don't smell, no noses. How's the odor? ANd where are you keeping them? Drive with the windows down alot?
  20. I've been using rechargables for over a year, love it. Yes initially the cost is a little steep, but double A's get expensive to. Also I know I am putting less into the waste stream. I always take an extra pair. As for me, I guess I am a low tech guy, mine take five hours to charge. Also one point not sure it was made is the fifteen minute charger has have the special batteries that can be recharged in 15 minutes. I'll keep my good old ray-o-vacs, they work just fine.
  21. It does indeed sound like a silly rule, especially since they allow so many other types of activities on "Public Lands", like screaming through in your SUV. I find it ironic that "our" Public Lands are often not for the "Public".
  22. Animals smanimals, I'm more worrried about the other drivers I encounter on the way to a Cache Site. I mean Holly Moly can't they see that I'm trting to drive and work my GPS'r at the same time, if they were cconsiderate they'd get off "my" roads. My worst encounters are with angry Groundhogs, or terroristic Squirels.
  23. I have a legend, that died, the screen went south, but until that time it took all sorts of abuse. Dropped, steped on ( I think the stepping did in the screen ),got it good and wet. I think you'll find anything that might harm the Garmin, will also harm you. Be careful, you can break too. By the way Gaarmin wanted to charge me $250.00 to replece the screen, a new one was selling for $159.00. Hmmmmmmmmmm. So I spent the $250, but bought a 60 CS instead. Its great, keeps a signal to.
  24. Runfrog

    Wgs84

I do believe that all Caches are WGS 84. It has repleced WGS 83 adn I'm not sure there is a big difference. Seems that I have found them both ways. But, I'll have to check, I can display both at the same time.
