  1. I'm very new to the game, but I thought the idea was to make the contents of a cache appealing to kids. I agree that in the few caches I have under my belt, I've found pretty worthless junk. I'm going about it by judging the size of the cache container: if its a large container and easy, I'm hoping kids will find it and I will leave something like a watch, a Sokudo game, a mini FM radio with batteries included, etc. Obviously, micro caches are not going to appeal much to kids, but are geared to appeal to adults for the challenge. When I take kids out caching we don't hunt for micros, and I always hope that the large ones we're looking for have a nice surprise to make the game worth it.
  2. There's a cacher here in S. Oregon who is an ace at creating micro caches. I'm not sure whether he thinks these up himself, or whether he's gotten his ideas from other places (he's found a whole bunch of caches), but being new at this game, I can tell you that he has made my learning curve very steep, and I feel very gratified when I find one of his micros. He loves rocks and camo tape! I think its important for Geocaching to have large containers so that kids can have fun with the goodies and feel like they're really on a hunt for treasure, but lets face it, us oldsters don't need dollar store stuff, its all about the challenge, and with the GPSr's available today, getting on top of a cache is pretty easy. But once you're there, let the micro fun begin!
  3. Nemo: I just sent you an email using the "Send Message" option next to your profile Email Address line. If you don't get it, please reply accordingly with another entry on this thread. I think the management needs to know things aren't working. jb
  4. BTW I've the 3.0.4 version of Safari, so I'm pretty sure I'm OK with my system. jb
  5. My iMac is currently running OSX 10.4.11. The thing that puzzles me is that when I click on the "Send to GPS" button on the Geocache website, it gives me a thumbs up. jb
  6. Yep, I've looked just about everywhere I can think of: Waypoints, Geochaches, Points of Interest......??????? jb
  7. Yes. I get a "None Found" in either category. jb
  8. I'm using a Garmin GPSmap 60CSx with an iMac G5. I downloaded Garmin's Communicator (at least the test page tells me its been successfully installed) I've connected my Garmin to my iMac with the provided USB cable, chosen a couple of Geocaches from the Geocache.com website (I'm a premium member), hit the "Send to GPS" button, and gotten a "successful transfer" message. But when I go to my Geocache page on the Garmin, I get a "None Found" in the listing. Where did they go? jb
  9. I emailed everyone that inquired about the TOPO 2008 disk, but perhaps I'm not using the correct response mode. I've used the PM button at the bottom of the entry. This is the first time I've used this forum. Maybe its my iMac? jb
  10. I was given the Garmin TOPO 2008 disk along with my GPS and I've chosen not to use it. PM me via this forum if interested.
