  1. When I log in to Waymarking I see the yellow marker as if there are some waymarks waiting to be reviewed. But I can't see them....It wasn't until I got a new waymark and finished reviewing it I was allowed to see a list of old waymark waiting to be publihed. Probably some resubmitted waymarks. the problem is I can't get access to them. When I click the link I don't get access to anything else than a very strange website. Picture 2 Have never ever experienced thar before. see pics. What to do?
  2. We are a very small group of Danish waymarkers. During the Corona crisis the activity has increased and a lot of new waymarks have been published. Wonderful! But one of the active waymarkers noticed something strange. A few years ago another Danish waymarker published a single waymark. But before it was published (after it was sent to review) 3 other waymarks using his text and pictures were published in other categories for the same object. I can't tell if the "copycat-waymarker" actually visited Denmark and simply wanted to publish a few waymarks in Denmark. But I find it a bit strange using someone else's pictures and text? What do you think? I like waymarks to be published in Denmark, but find it a bit unfair to the Danish guy who did all the work. What should be done about this? Let me hear your opinion. kallehaugerne
  3. I hope you will keep the old-school design!
  4. No pictures here either. I use Chrome. Looking forward to seeing it working again. I haven't beem very active here in the forum for a long time. Who is "taking care" of the technical issues ?
  5. I think it is a GREAT idea. We have a lot of these roundabout sculptures in Denmark. Would love this category to be the next one.
  6. If that is going to be the definition I have a sanctuary too: two rescuedogs. We will of course make a detailed description. A sanctuary is not a private home, but a large farm like area with many animals: cows, donkeys, dogs, chicken etc.
  7. I just created a new group "animal sanctuaries" Please take yourself time to read the description, which clearly tells the difference between an animal shelter/rescue and a sanctuary. It is defenitely not the same. I hope for your support.
  8. It is not possible to open the different waymarks in this category. The error page shows up. What to do ???
  9. I found an ugly building and looked for the category but couldn't find it I was sure this was a category but perhaps I don't remember so well? Can anybody help me please?
  10. For what reason was the category denied ? There is a list of existing paternosters in Denmark at the end of this article: https://da.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paternoster
  11. I think it make you a tattle-tale, and DiSO2 should have just removed themself from the group if they are not interested in Waymarking. What you have pointed out here in the forums is the fact that Waymarking is slowly dying off because people are losing interest and leaving, or in the case with myself and this person that you have called out here in the forums, are getting tired of the BS that comes along with managing a category. The last straw for me was when the guy that threatened to contact Bryan and tattle on me for not accepting their WM that did not meet criteria used the review queue over and over to argue because they did not know for sure which category officer was rejecting their WM. Two of us had signed on, so this angry person reported both of us. Yeah, things like this is why I no longer Waymark. I believe that we should be able to retire a category that we create, and not worry about it being taken over by contacting a site admin here and them making a new leader. Off course it is okay if you lose your interest in WM No problem with me. I just got a bit surprised by DiS=2's statement when I looked into the group Thats all I have only had very few bad experiences with the Waymarking society. I understand why you got frustrated/angry (whatever) with that guy reposting his waymark.
  12. As a "grid hunter" (perhaps not the right word) I was happy to find a self service pets washing here in my town. They are very rare here in Denmark. I posted it 3 weeks ago and it hasn't been published yet. So I took a look into the group behind it and found that the officers sees to be not very active. http://www.Waymarking.com/groups/details.aspx?f=1&guid=a410e453-9d04-41ca-83ff-8bf8df1a5688 Latest log in by an officer: 11/26/2015. By the way: what do you think about the text under DiSO2's profile? Perhaps I am a bit prudish, but I find it inappropiate I wrote a message to wildwoodke and got no reply. I wrote to Groundspeak and got their default "bla bla bla" reply Now I have joined the group. Wouldn't mind to be an officer here. What else to do? Henriette
  13. I think Escape Rooms could be a great idea for a new category? The number of rooms are growing fast and has worldwide potential. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Escape_room
  14. I have been thinking about creating a group/category about listing paternosters worldwide. Searching this forum I found out that a category containig this was made back in 2012. Is the idea dead? Or could a better description bring t back to live? Or are they simply to rare?
  15. Hey What happened to this idea? I think it is great and would like to join a group if you created one?
  16. I had to deal with some very serious problems in my family. Therefore I wasn't able to focuse on creating the category description. That is why 3 years passed. English is not my native language and I find it quite challenging to write the category description. And then 3 years just passed. Very simple. I am sorry you missed the peer review on this.
  17. The "search from here" button just below the small map in the upper right corner does not work It has been like that for quite a long time. I miss it SO much. Anyone who have an idea of how to get contact with someone at Groundspeak? I have written them several times without any useful result
  18. I've been Waymarking for about 3 years and never really spent time to find out what this category could be used for. Yesterday I tried to find out but didn't get much wiser. Thank you for explaining it here It seems as if someone also uses it as a kind of inspiration for other waymarkers?
  19. Just read your little discussion about icons and I learned a lot. But what can you do if you want to make a suggestion to a new and more suitable icon for a category? I'm thinking of the Way of St. James category. I'm big fan of this category and I really think it is a pitty with the tent icon. A much better icon would be something with the shell or the yellow arrow which are official icons/symbols of The Way. Any ideas about how to get on with this?
  20. Please forgive me if this is a naive question: But is this the normal way a discussion runs? I'm not used to this so I'm a bit surprised and I just want to continue the "right way". Then to answer your questions. I don't know anything about Zippy. Never heard about him before I started to look at the categories. I don't dislike him, I just don't know the stories. So To me, it's hard to se the point fon Zippy as a waymark. It's not true that Tintin is not set en real world locations. That one of the details the that made the stories famous. At least in Europe. I'm not able to tell how fare the fame have spread. Hergé was known to do very serious research before he draw his albums. As a few examples I have visited myself, I could mention: Petra in Jordan, The Eiffel Tower, Paris and Chateau de Cherverny in France. I would love to give examples of that. But I'm new into this forum thing, so I just want to do it right? Do you expect me to argue and "fight" for mu idea here? As I said previously, I do not think that comic stores should belong to a category like this unless They are dedicaded to Tintin. Like: The Tintin Shop in London A simple search on Google with "Tintin shop" tells me that there are several shops in: Brussel, New York, Singapore, Paris, Tokyo. These are Not comicshops, but sell all kind of Tintin merchandise including the books. Another example would be Faraos Cigarer in Copenhagen. That is a comicstore, but the name of the store is similar to a Tintin book and they have specialized in Tintin items and books. That is just an example from my part of the world, not to say that this should be included in the category. Just to tell, that this category could get waymarks from different areas. May I sugest that you watch this movie: Tintin and me a prized film about Tintin. It gives a really good impression of the depth in the stories.
  21. I will do my best to convince you that this is a good idea I thought about the copyright issue. How was it solved with: Zippy the Pinhead, The Peanuts, Pikachu and Moomin? Perhaps somebody can tell. Poor you if you have only one album with the great and smart hero I don't have a single album with Zippy the Pinhead, and the Moomins are abviously not so common in the US. You can find lots of information about Tintin here: http://www.tintinologist.org/ or here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tintin_(character) Or here: http://us.tintin.com/ My point is that to many people Tintin is considered the essence of Belgium comic tradition/art as it is one of the oldest. I don't want to create a new category for comic shops. But in the case that a certain comic shop is dedicated to Tintin i beleive it should belong to this category. Asterix and Gaston are cool to but my favorite is Tintin. And that is why I'm so dedicated to create this category. (Take a look on the articles on wikipedia about respectively: Asterix, Gaston and Tintin and tell me who is most important ) Well this is not a question about likes/dislikes. I just try to argue that Tintin is "the king of european comics" and therefore should have his own category. The category should include all characters from the albums and not only the little reporter. Another argument is, that this category could surely be worldwide. From Tibet to Amazonas From The middle East To Scotland And even on the moon About items. That could be the cars. You can find information about all the models here:http://dardel.info/tintin/index.html"]here I beleive that a tintin related car should be on public dispaly and permanently displayed. Perhaps it should be necessary to make a limit to one waymark per car model. It is also possible to find statues, reliefs or murals (In Brussels for example showing subject from Tintin. Most people would be able to recognize that, even though they might not be very familiar with the content of the albums. So I think a Tintin category could have a big appeal to many waymarkers as it would include many different areas. And the title tells: it's allabout Tintin Did I make you just one little step closer to a yes?
