  1. Thats a much better trade then a Pepsi Cap for $10 off a $50 purchase. I found that in a micro that was preventing the lid from closing. I threw out the cap. Cache lid closes now. What a concept!
  2. Been there, done that, logged it! http://www.geocaching.com/track/details.aspx?id=15877
  3. We have several female cachers here in So-Cal that have topped 1000+ finds. This is definately not a sport for just us guys. EMC of Northridge, CA Ranboze There are probably more, but its late and my brain isnt working well.
  4. Seems to be a temporary issue. www.scgeocachers.org is back online.
  5. OMG! That is very cool! Themed geocaches are always great. You went all the way to make a great looking cache. Good job with seeking all the proper permissions and everything. I'm working on something similar. After I recent trip to Texas, I picked up a bunch of nice soveniers and brought them back with me. It includes several books, stickers, magnets and all sorts of cool Texas stuff. I'll be releasing that cache here in Los Angeles soon. Everybody loves a themed cache.
  6. Signature items are fair trade items in my mind. I have a sig item that is similar to my avatar image. Its turns out to be a popular item to be taken by other geocachers. I even put my name on them, but people still like them. Doesn't bother me. I love the idea of my sig items moving around the country. As for proof you found the cache, thats what the log is for. Other then the log book and pen, I say everything else is game for trading.
  7. I don't know of a way to other then the keyword search to look for TB hotels. Kinda goes along with the generic naming idea to make searching easier. Not much we can do I dont think... Anybody want to start a list?
  8. There are a couple of large geocaching events happening this weekend in Las Vegas. Check these event caches for more info: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...fb-80e87fc9c1a4 (Milestones) http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...1d-7d80a3577518 (Here come the Raisins)
  9. Well, Uncle Elwyn made it to Malibu, California today. Great views and just a wonderful day for caching. Log entry and pictures available on the travel bug page: Uncle Elwyn TB Page
  10. I'll pass on the word to some people that 4x4 in the area, but with the recent weather, its unlikely that area wont be very accessable until early spring.
  11. How about a cache underwater??? Its been done before... Swimmers Cache Gotta love good ol California!
  12. Keep an eye out here: www.scgeocachers.org That site has updated info and a message board for the So-Cal area. As of right now, there is an event in 2 weeks up in Palmdale, then one in Thousand Oaks, and a large trip planned for Las Vegas in March. Nothing planned in San Diego at the moment. How about you host an event?
  13. I wouldn't say Santa Barbara is "very close" to Port Hueneme, but its close. Thousand Oaks is much closer and has plently of caches to go around. Even for your two months in the area, you would be hard pressed to continuously cache in the Thousand Oaks and Conejo Valley area and NOT run out of caches. Lots of urban micros and cache and dash locations as well as caches that involve hikes. A park area in Thousand Oaks called Wildwood Park has about 18 caches in that park alone. You could easy nab half of those caches in 4 hours during a 6mi hike. If you are looking for anybody to cache with, let me know. We have groups that head out all the time. The local message board for the Conejo Valley (Thousand Oaks, Newbury Park, Westlake Village area) is located here: Conejo Cachers
