  1. Went to DR in Indy Friday. Cancer counts indicate that the cancer is slowly coming back but she is not scheduled to go back to DR till January. the cancer is still relatively low/just registering on the radar but still higher than it was early this spring when we stopped treatments for a well deserved break. I pray that it is slow growing. We assume it is. Also pray that assuming treatment starts in January that it works again and beats it back down. Those interested in the cancer Multiple Myeloma can check out GC11Y27
  2. Boy that was confusing... the Silver Peak Jeep that I started off on its way last year was parked at possum hollow (GCPQC1) which is an ammo box in IL. I own Possum Hollow (GCY0TH) a micro in IN! I even made a side trip Friday to check on it as I couldn't figure out how a TB could be placed in a hide-a-key! Just figured it out! Such a small world! 3. Thanks - I just been seeing a lot of new caches in that area pop up on my e-mails in the last month or two and haven't hit them yet to see if they were in or around the park. Not worth asking Tim (Naturalist) about them. Will make for a productive trip for anyone looking for several caches in a concentrated community. Gunpowder
  4. What's the story on Potato Creek and all the new caches going in in that area? I figured they were outside the park but a friend said there are several new ones inside the park. Are cachers sticking it to the DNR 200 acre rule or is that property manager pro geocaching and ignoring the rule?
  5. How many DNF's? 24 but most of those were muggled and later found if they weren't archived.
  6. I celebrated by caching all afternoon and evening. 22 caches. Perhaps the last time we cache in the family micro/mini van. We bought a new to us cache mobile yesterday. 2000 Town & Country cache Mobile 4-Sale-Only has 181 caches on it
  7. It seems my 60CX no longer asks me to check a cache as being found changing the closed box into the open one. I have to manually change the icon from the icon menus meaning it also is not logging it into the calender. Eiter I am doing it wrong or something has been changed but I never get the question/ option to click it as having found it. Can't find details in the manual.
  8. From my post on a cache: "Warning: Also found an interesting container east of the site. Had crack pipes and assesories in it. It is still there. I wasn't going to drive around with it in my van to dispose of it properly. The Deputy may come back with my luck and wouldn't believe my story. HEADLINES: GEOCACHER ARRESTED FOR CRACK CACHE Photos posted when transfered from phone to computer"
  9. Bump! I just got my 18th cache published in Indiana. Seems we are in Indy enough that we decided to put a cache in Carmel. It will probably get lost amongst the tons of caches in the region but I actually found a spot with no caches in the close area. Right near 465 too! GC11Y27 Fighting the Beast Within First to find gets to find it first
  10. Wife broke something on that one ROTFLHAO
  11. That was a short spring/summer/fall. It seems like the seasons go by so quickly these days
  12. I am the director of a nature park that has 12 caches in and around the property. I am also a frequent cacher. I have a board member (also a cacher but not on a regular basis) who suggested I post the coordinates to the caches in the guest registry to promote geocaching and another activity while on the park. I first thought it was a good idea but while writing up the sign, I had second thoughts thinking that perhaps I was opening up the caches to possible muggling by non-cachers w/ GPS's. 11 of the caches are mine... mostly ammo cans. Comments?
  13. We did the Indiana Children's Museum cache yesterday with the kids. Compared to northern Indiana I could grab a hotel here in Indy and get 100 caches per day by walking. I did find a hole and am placing a cache today near my wife's cancer treatment building.
  14. I downloaded my waypoints to Mapsource and got 10 acres. Ran the gator around the flags and got 10.4 tracking on the GPS. I would think the Mapsource method is more accurate but if I get the chance I will try to e-mail Cardinal Red the cords when I get in the office monday morning. Thanks for all the help everyone!
  15. Congratulations! I know of a couple of teachers who won the lilly grant in the past. One this year is going to watch Operas overseas in Europe. Are you doing historical marker sites, parks, etc? I run a non-profit park in Marshall Co which is getting a 2007 historical marker later this fall after it is manufactured to recognize the site as one of the few post removal period villages in Indiana. I have a Garmin GPSmap60CX loaded with City Navigator Ver.8. It has parks already marked and other points of interest. You can click on it and the GPS will give you turn by turn directions to the site. I used it to go to a Indiana Parks & Recreation meeting this past week and it worked great shaving 15 minutes off of my travel time. I clicked on the park clicked goto and off I went. It has both town streets as well as dirt roads! Enjoy your summer treat.
  16. Was using the caching GPSR at work today to mark points in an area we are taking out of farm land to develop into a prairie. I need to figure the acreage to subtract from what the farmer needs to pay cash rent for. I have 15 points as it is not square but I hear there may be a way for this beast to measure acreage. I can't find my manual. Anybody know for sure and how? Thanks!
  17. Answering own question: From FAQs Thread: Whats the NT compare to non NT version 1. Maps are the same 2. POI are the same 3. Size are not the same 4. NT can not be used on old units. So what are the sizes and number of map tiles City Navigator North America v8 309Maps 1633MB City Navigator North America NT v8 63Maps 946.6MB City Navigator Europe v8 216Maps 1809.5MB City Navigator Europe NT v8 197Maps 1098.4MB This tells that NA NT fits a one GB chip, but not europe NT There are bigger difference for the size of the tiles in NA compare to the Europe. What is NT NT is a new technology from Garmin to compress the maps. Because the maps are compress it need some CPU power from the GPS to uncompress the maps. It may be some slower but not visible for the user. Should I use NT map? Yes if the price are the same and your GPS support it. Another post said:According to Garmin Sales: "NT was designed to be used with the in car systems, and the outdoor units do not have the same indexing abilities using the NT compression system. The information is all the same, however you cannot allegedly perform a find nearest querry using NT on an outdoor unit, or search by name (if i recall the conversation correctly). They STRONGLY recommended i get the non NT version for my 76 CSx." But this was countered later in the thread. Anyone have comments?
  18. Looking to get this software for my PC and GPSmap60CX. In another thread I was encouraged to get NT as it was more compressed. Why have both versions? If NT is more compressed why have the regular model? I assume both are identical except for the compression and will work on any models and PC configurations?
  19. Interesting difference. Why make the larger program then? Will have to make a new thread to find out.
  20. There are plenty to keep you busy within 20 miles of you. I saw you found Well Well Well. I see yo are a service Manager. Where do yo work?
  21. I am getting ready to purchase City Nav. V8 for my GPSMap60CX. Is the OEM microsd card large enough to handle it or sh0uld I get a 1gb card? Amazon has a combo City Nav V8 & Sandisk 1GB for $137.98
  22. I presented a PowerPoint on Geocaching at our local metal detector meeting Sunday afternoon. One of our newer members ended up being a geocacher. Glad to meet Sixleiters and family. Went shopping for fresh swag after the meeting so didn't get time to hunt any.
  23. By the looks of where some of you live, you need to get out and walk more often I wish Jeeps got better gas mileage. It is time for a new-to-me vehicle and I always wanted a jeep. Closets thing I have had to a jeep was this:linky
