  1. Well if you keep a thread up long enough, eventually I'll see it. The most southern cache was http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.asp?ID=24853 (now archived) Now it's http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.asp?ID=10393 (virtual) the most southern physical cache is at: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.asp?ID=431 which is in New Zealand. The most northern cache is the one named above in this thread - As north as it gets. Thus ends your local stats update
  2. At 8:23 pm EDT tonight, a scant 5 hours and some after the cache was released, team ladybuggers scored first blood on Stage 1. And the race is on!
  3. The reporter contacted me a bit ago about my stats website - I'm sure that's where he got his numbers. I did see that he incorrectly referred to it as score - what's he trying to do, start a flame war?!?!? Good article, but I'm just sad I didn't get my name in the paper

  5. Well, Mario's Tower - the world's most difficult geocache, has (finally) been opened. You can read more about it at: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.asp?ID=32824 or the official cache site at: http://www.insidecorner.com/geocaching/mario The short summary is that it is a 13-part multi-cache that will require you to solve many different brain and logic puzzles to move from stage to stage, as well as challenging cache finds. It's located in Cincinnati, Ohio, so come one, come all. And yes, I do realize it's a bit pretentious to label something as "The world's most difficult" - I give thanks to all those puzzle caches that came before me, Hard as Pi, Contact, and many others I'm sure I'm forgetting. But now the race is on - who will be the first to solve the riddles and make their way through the kingdom to Mario's Tower? The contenders are: DLiming (Cincinnati) - Currently 7th in the world with 579 found, and #1 in Cincinnati and Ohio. ladybuggers (Cincinnati) - 17th in the world and #2 in Cincinnati and Ohio Show me the Cache (Louisville) - #10 in the world Team Lead Pipe (Cincinnati) - These enigmatic cachers were one of the founders of the hobby here in Cincinnati but haven't cached in over 6 months. Will such a challenge lure them out of retirement? Draegon, kimbyj, and Pewterz (Cincinnati) - Numbers 4, 5 and 6 in Cincinnati BVCY Swim (Dayton) - #7 in Cincinnati and #4 in Ohio - these cachers have left their fish-lips on 52 caches in Cincinnati over the past 3 months, regularly stopping by to log 10-15 caches in a single day. Or will it be some relative unknown - who takes this opportunity to place their mark on Cincinnati geocaching history. Stay tuned....
  6. Closest 2 and 3 of the closest 6, as well as the closest 2 to my old house.
  7. done. (at least on the log list page)
  8. for the plug - when I was reading the original post I thought "hey my site does that" and whaddayaknow someone already pointed that out :-). Now only if I could get around to putting links to the gc.com pages from that. I've been meaning to do it for awhile but just not getting around to it....
  9. This thread is a bit old, but in catching up, I just wanted to give a plug to Mario's Tower - World's most Difficult Geocache It's coming soon - I promise. I know that I've been saying that for nearly 9 months, but it should be up this week! It's in Cincinnati, OH
  10. Thanks moun10bike - that's exactly right, and Team Golden you should be all set now.
  11. Hmm didn't notice that last night (about only 1 page showing up). I'll look into that in a bit. Team Golden - did you change your username by chance?

  14. What cracked me up was Heather going off and off about how she was lost. HELLO - you have a GPS! It's telling you how far you are and what way you need to go!! It's like the definition of NOT lost. And yes they were all idiots at least as far as the editing showed us

  16. It was called "The Amazing Race", and there have been 2 installments, both of which were quite entertaining IMO. #3 is due to come out on CBS sometime soon
  17. We've been having some problems and need to do some server maintenance - unfortunately, the guy with the password has disappeared off the face of the earth. Hopefully it will be back up before too long... dan.
  18. Have you upgraded to the latest firmware - v3.15? I had tons of problems before I did that.

  22. I'll be visiting the Park City / SLC area the last week of June / first week of July from Cincinnati, OH. I'll be happy to take any travel bugs that want to go east back home with me. If you've got a bug that you want me to take back east, email me at dan at insidecorner dot com with its location and I'll try to swing by. dan. regoarrarr
  23. I'm going out to Utah from Cincinnati the last week of June. I'll be happy to take any travel bugs out there. If you want your bugs to go with me, let me know and/or bring them to Cincinnati so I can grab them in the next few weeks. Any questions - email me at dan at insidecorner dot com
  24. I suppose it could be addressed in the same way - reloading the cache page would delete the logs for that cache in the database and generate new ones based on geocaching.com data.
  25. Though my site will not "find" your hidden caches until someone finds them and logs them. Though if it happened on the weekends it might not show up due to cache overload. I did modify my script to run more often on weekends to hopefully solve that problem and I'm working on (yeah yeah I've been saying it for awhile) a way that users can submit a cache for my script to "re-run" if I missed one.
