  1. Have a look at the Oregon Wiki page as many of the feature are the same.
  2. Hi Dave, I'm from Grays and have caches in Romford that I've not found yet. If you want to meet up sometime, PM me through my profile.
  3. GSAK has now unzipped your PQ. you can use GSAK to send the geocaches to your unit complete with hints and descriptions (You can even filter the list before you send it, but look into that later once you're happy with GSAK.) On the top menu goto GPS - Setup... In here select Garmin and 450. Then goto GPS - Send Waypoints... If you have less than 5000 geocaches in your list, use the defaults, if not you need to set the maximum number of caches to 5000 or less. Then click on the Send button at the bottom.
  4. Not if you can get a 450 for $250. Too slow, the story of my life
  5. If you want to have a look at these, try this site. It has been said that the site is running slow at the moment, so try looking at the one of the predefined countries (Argentina is listed )
  6. Yep, but I don't see why that would make a difference. I'll try one of the others and see what that does. The geocaching dashboard indicates the direction and distance to the nearest Geocache when navigating to a waypoint and not to that waypoint. I wish there was a third geocaching dash board 'Geocaching - Navigating to' There two ways I've found around this (there could be more): 1) Use the next stage feature to enter the coordinates you want and then the dashboard will behave correctly. 2) Create a new profile for navigating to waypoints and POI's etc. In this profile set the map to display two data fields. One is the Distance to Next and the other is Pointer.
  7. And I didn't know you could do that! Mutual learning, I love it.
  8. Are you looking for them in waypoints? You need to look in the geocache menu item. They do not show in the under waypoints like on the eTrex that you are used to.
  9. The hamsters must of heard us talking, the site is much quicker now
  10. I've not tried recently, a note on the site also states that there is a 3.9 days delay, it might be a waiting game. Have you tried the forum on that site?
  11. Did you then go into OSM and corrected it for other newbie users?
  12. yes it's this one http://coord.info/GC11V8R it's a great puzzle and I enjoyed doing it, I just need to find a suitable time to get out to the actual puzzle now. Looking at this one, I would guess it's grandfathered as there are a couple of parks very close to the published coordinates to allow a closer hind.
  13. Have you selected the correct battery type in the setup menu?
  14. Can you give us the GC code without giving the final coords?
  15. This is from the knowledge book: 'For many caches of this type, the coordinates listed are not of the actual cache location but a general reference point, such as a nearby parking location. The posted coordinates should be no more than 1-2 miles (2-3 km) away from the true cache location. This allows the cache to show up on the appropriate vicinity searches and keeps the mileage of Trackables that pass through the cache reasonably accurate.' The key point is 'should be no more than'. This implies there is some discretion for the reviewer provided the CO can give a reasonable reason for an exception to be made.
  16. Update went OK, but I did create a dummy profile before hand and delete it afterwards. Field testing tomorrow.
  17. At the risk of sounding incredibly ill-informed, what are .JNX files and what have I been missing?
  18. or try this: Although not every bodies cup of tea, Mobile Atlas Creator and a quick set of instructions to it.
  19. P.S. does anyone know if you can search for bookmark lists? I've had a look for this, but couldn't find it.
  20. I searched for caches with 'tb hotel' in the title. I then had a look at one or two and found one that was on a bookmark list You'll find lots of caches and lots of list, have a look around until you find what you want. If you are a premium member, you can create a pocket query from a bookmark list, which you can then preview on a map or download to your GPS.
  21. Are you going to the meet tonight? If you are you can try my SD card in your unit and vice verse.
  22. Should be OK provided you stick to public right of ways.
