  1. Anyone feel defeated when they can't find a cache and have to DNF? I spent almost a hour looking for this one cache that had a geocoin in it. The beacon was supposed to be this tree with two super thick branches hanging over the Mississippi River. I did my best to practice my tight rope walking on the branches but had no luck at all, couldn't spot it at all. I've never been so frustrated with a geocache and actually pretty disappointed I couldn't get the geocoin.
  2. What's the average time does it take for a cache to be published? A few days? A week?
  3. Well I love to geocache especially hiding caches but I live in a mini metro. So I need some creative ideas that don't involve silly micros in lightposts and will keep them from getting muggled.
  4. I was doing a short multicache today that needed coords to find the second part but I couldn't figure out how to enter them on the app. Luckily I knew what building the cache was in by the times listed it was open but can someone explain how to?
  5. I know you are right but it means allot to me to get it going, I hope a good cacher picks it up soon and moves it along.
  6. Well I was up in Norther Minnesota this weekend and dropped off my first TB I have ever owned up in a popular cache up there. It's a TB in memory of my aunt who died from cancer. Well I have been watching it and the cache has been logged several times since but my TB hasn't been moved yet. I am so nervous that it's either been stolen already or is just sitting there without being picked up. What can I do?
  7. How did that work? Like was the log and everything decorations on the wreath?
  8. Yeah I came across a mystery puzzle one like this weekend which involved different countries boats and I think it was about times they came into port but when I found the list of times in the visitor center that you are supposed look in, they weren't on there so I am not so sure what exactly you were supposed to look for to determine the coords. It said you could even use Google when the visitor center is closed but what you were supposed to be Googling is still beyond me. I looked at the logs and I wasn't the only one lost at how to find the cache.
  9. This exchange happened on a Minnesota facebook group on Saturday between me and another guy while trying to find a cache that kept eluding me which if I actually thought about it right away I would have found it. Me: Anyone give me a hint on the NAME REMOVED AS TO NOT SPOIL cache in Duluth? Looked for 15 minutes and no luck. Guy: Under the stairs would be a good place to look. Me: Too many silly muggles. Guy: They can't all be silly...can they? 10 minutes later... Me: Lol I'm the silly one. Found it
  10. So we all have had them, those moments when that one cache evades you and when you actually find it you feel stupid because it was in the one place you should have looked right away or whatever. So lets hear your face palm caching stories. I had my worse one on Saturday with a urban cache. I was up in Northern Minnesota with my youth students for a conference and I wanted to find this popular one to drop a TB in. Well the coords brought me to this patio area with lattice fencing under it and wooden steps. Well so tried to look under the patio/steps where it ran along the sidewalk as much as I could but I kept getting the strangest looks from muggles and even had one ask me if I dropped something so I wandered into a few shops hoping to try a little later. So about a half an hour or more of shopping with some of my students I returned too look again. By this time I was getting pretty frustrated and desperate cause I really wanted to find it so I did something I hardly ever do, I asked on a Minnesota Facebook group for a hint since they had suggested I look for it while I was there. They said look under the steps which I found maddening unhelpful at the time. After another 15 minutes I wondered if it could be on the other side of the steps next to the building but I wasn't sure cause it seemed a bit too private but I figured it was worth the shot. Low and behold, there was a camouflaged peanut butter jar. If I would have just checked there I would have saved myself a whole lot of of time and muggle embarrassment.
  11. So I tried to check on one of my caches and I thought it got muggled because it wasn't where I hid it. Well someone found it just fine so now I am thinking someone rehid it someplace else. Anyone encounter this?
  12. Aww... it sounded like such a good concept for those who wanna track a coin but don't want to spend allot on something that may get lost. It's sad it didn't work out.
  13. Sometimes Geocachers can't sign your log book for real reasons. Like perhaps the pen is missing or not working and they forgot their own. Or maybe the log book got wet. I wouldn't worry too much about it. I personally care more about the logs on website then whats in my cache's log book.
  14. I found this old post and I love the concept. http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=236276 Honestly as a new Geocacher, I am fascinated with the concept of geocoins/travelbugs and would be more then honored to adopt some unwanted ones to spread around the world. Is this still happening or could it happen again?
  15. I have two archived caches because they got muggled and they mess up my hide count on my profile. Is there a way to just delete them permanently?
  16. Some more frown on this but I find the best swag at my Dollar Trees. They have the most random selection of stuff and you can find some real clever stuff. The best part, if your cache gets muggled it's no real financial loss.
  17. The thing is it's allot easier for me to maintain if it's in the city, specially if near the places I frequent often.
  18. This could be the case! I also wonder if it's just silly kids causing mischief, thinking oooh free toys!
  19. So I have the most perfect park next to my complex that I want place a cache in but the two times I have tried, they got messed with by Muggles. The first time the whole thing disapeered and second one got it's contents took. Now the thing is I hid them both fairly well so I don't get why it keeps happening there. Honestly it's so fustrating!
  20. When you log in using Facebook, you are never asked for a password or anything. So no it wasnt using my Facebook password.
  21. * Cache owners not keeping up with the trackers in their caches and if they are missing. Visted one today that was placed in last spring and it still said it was there when it was gone. * Micros in the wilderness. Like I wanna search the woods for a teeny tiny one. * Muggles who mess with caches, I have the perfect park by my complex to hide caches in but the muggles destroy them. Had to give up there after two got wrecked. *Not enough places to hide in urban settings.
  22. Okay what kind of places are even options for urban catches really?
