  1. Thanks much all...it's been a great 25 months caching so far and I'm looking forward to the next 500!
  2. I just discovered that I've been within 30 minutes of that APE cache *twice* in the last 6 weeks while visiting Maryland. D'oh! No future trips on the horizon to Maryland either... -Tony
  3. Does anybody here use the Mapsource City Select map product from Garmin on their GPS'r? I was thinking about buying it, but when I go to the product page on the Garmin online store: http://www.garmin.com//cartography/mapSource/cityselect.jsp and then use the map viewer in the upper right hand corner, the amount of detail shown on the map looks just about as good as the base map in the unit (no residential streets, only highways and main surface streets shown). Does this online map accurately represent the data you get with the disc? Anybody know? Thanks, Tony
  4. I'd guess he's referring to the Alien Fresh Jerky cache...
  5. Google maps works fine on both of my macs running Safari...
  6. I actually noticed Neil (NCad) logging his own Death cache a few weeks back and had an email exchange about it with him. He doesn't read this thread, and said I could quote him here if it ever came up. Here is what he said: > Tony, > Thanks for noticing. It's a semi-inside joke. I > have a cousin who I introduced to geocaching about a > year ago and he is very strict in his interpretation > of what should be allowed and not allowed. He > monitors my geocaching activities and I have > discovered that I can drive him crazy by claiming a > find on caches I've placed. The geocaching system > doesn't prohibit one from finding one's own caches > but my cousin (Ace Flapperhacker) thinks it violates > the very heart and soul of geocaching etiquette. > Therefore, just to cause him grief, I claim a > find on my own caches every once in awhile. My > response to him is that it's a cache, I found it, > and the system lets me do it, so it must be OK. > Sooner or later he'll notice this visit to Death and > send me a wild-eyed note about it being illegal. > Just one more thing that makes geocaching fun. Looks like Neil is having some fun with the system, though I have to admit it is a little confusing when he thanks himself in a find log for his own hide. To each his own, I guess. -Tony
  7. Oh No!!!! http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,141697,00.html This story was covered EVERYWHERE, regardless of political affiliation. -Tony
  8. So, it's been 2 weeks since I failed to complete Chupy 4 due to a missing waypoint #13. I've posted about the problem on the cache page and emailed Zar without any reply. He's been to geocaching.com since then too according to his profile, so I'm sure he knows about the problem. Anyway, I've invested so much time into completing Chupy 4, and am so close to completion I'd still like to finish and log it even though Zar seems unwilling/unable to help. Would any previous finders happen to have the coordinates of WP#14 (that would have been given on the paper slip at missing WP#13? Or any WP's past #13 perhaps, or maybe it was by a landmark you could describe, perhaps it's still in your GPS even? I'd really appreciate it. Thanks, Tony
  9. Agreed that the manual needs some work... About determining the software version, the manual index says page 55, but it is actually on page 56. Main Menu > Setup icon > System icon > Menu button Took me awhile to find it too. -Tony
  10. I know not everyone keeps up with cache logs for caches they've already found, but during a PQ canyon search today on Chupy 4: The Walkabout, I found that construction grading had wiped out WP13 and Chupy 1 as well. Both are "old timers" as SD caches go. I know that this is bound to happen as new homes are built upon previously open areas, I was just saddened to lose this quiet area in this grove. I had really enjoyed finding Chupy 1 just about 3 weeks ago. Thought some of the "older" SD cachers might like to know... -Tony
  11. Stumbled across a new cache today called "Hidden Metal" that doesn't appear on the list at geocaching.com. Anybody know the owner? I found it near "off track" this morning (http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?ID=81668) Tony (TEAM_EI)
