  1. I was caching once while at work as a paramedic (no worries - no patients were harmed during our activities!). Actually, I was PLACING a cache when I evidently dropped my $50 stethoscope out of my cargo pants pocket! I only realized I'd lost that instrument at the end of my shift, at 6AM the next morning! I searched my ambulance, the Emergency Department, several other locations, and thought I had maybe not even brought it to work. I went home, spent 2 days turning the house upside down searching for this item that had been a CHRISTMAS GIFT from my brother several years prior! When the cache was finally published, I still had not made the connection between it and my missing "set of ears". A friend of mine was the FTF and he called to ask if I was missing my stethoscope. We met up the following afternoon and I had my "ole friend" back in my posession! JodyC_GoHogs Bryant, Arkansas
  2. I tried to 1.0 to 1.0.1 and back tactic and that didn't work. I've tried the trick from November of going into Notepad and that didn't work. So now I'm to the point of adding certain caches specifically along a hiking route I'm hoping to go walk this afternoon. I'm adding them one-by-one-by-one. And I don't consider GASK an option - this is why I bought CR (but this isn't the point of my posting, and hope we don't rabbit trail down this topic). So I'm going to stop typing now, continue downloading one at a time (and be grateful that is still an option!) so I can enjoy this beautiful Arkansas Sunday afternoon with the Mrs. Happy caching! Jody
  3. I remember this problem occuring back in November or so, but haven't seen anyone commenting on it today. I just ran three PQs in prep of an afternoon hike. The three PQs delivered in just a few minutes but DeLorme's CacheRegister didn't transfer the information correctly, so I grabbed the files straight from my email and uploaded using Topo8. Again, it just uploaded as waypoints with no cache information associated. Ideas? Does anyone remember the workaround (going into Notebook, doing a Find and Replace of some sort) that was passed around a few months back? If anyone's 1) had this problem and 2) tried this workaround, then did it work? Thanks! JodyC_GoHogs Bryant, Arkansas
  4. Could a feature be added to the Ignore List so that all caches owned by a particular other user could be easily added to the list? A recent situation has required me to individually add some 200 caches all owned by the same person to my Ignore List and it took a couple of hours. Being able to do this with just a few clicks would have been nice. Extending this feature just slightly would allow any Bookmark List (not the Ignore list) to include all caches by a certain owner(s). Thank you. JodyC_GoHogs Bryant, Arkansas
  5. Their website is down and an email to their account I communicated with back in Feb '08 when I purchased a few coins bounced today. I have a GeoCoin that I just realized I never activated and I need the activation code... any way to get in touch with them would be much appreciated! Thanks, JodyC_GoHogs
  6. PM sent. I just found out what my tax return is going to be and now have a few extra bucks in my mad-money account. =0)
  7. I use my Garmin to get me to/near GZ, but I do use my SmartPhone to access the WAP site to look at the description/hint/logs as I need.
  8. THANK YOU for your time and effort in helping our new Cachers learn the sport. I wish I had found something like this a year ago when I started. Happy Caching, all!
  9. I had an experience crossing back INTO the US from Canada about 19 months ago in North Dakota. I wasn't GCing, but was in ND on business. There is a free "Peace Garden" area for tourists that doesn't require a search to enter, but does to leave. I, from Arkansas, was in a ND rental car with a drivier from Florida, carrying all of the luggage for us AND our two other coworkers (we were burning gas we could expense, so we put all of the luggage in our car instead of the POV that our colleagues were driving). Two non-locals in a rental with LOTS of luggage. Yup, we got stopped and the search commenced. LUCKILY, being in the Homeland Security business as a contractor, we happened to know one of the supervisory Border Patrol agents on duty at that checkpoint. When he recognized us from a project we'd worked on together the week before, we "called off the dogs" and let us pass. Whew - talk about friends in high places!!! Disclaimer: This post isn't GC-related, but I still wanted to share... that month in ND was a blast, and I recommend anyone take a trip there if you can.
  10. Was surprised to see how many people my parent's age GC, considering they think it's a waste of time. I'm 30 and LOVE it. Go figure. Just confirms that my dear parents are not normal - something I figured out when I was 15. There's an old addage contributed to Mark Twain: "When I was a boy of 14, my father was so ignorant I could hardly stand to have the old man around. But when I got to be 21, I was astonished at how much the old man had learned in seven years." In the 9 years since then, I have come to love and appreciate them all that much more - but they're still weird. =0)
  11. My girlfriend - fiance' now, actually - got me a magnetic nano, a couple of waterproof log books, and a TB tag. My brother, ASP_Geoman got a 50cal ammo can filled with potential cache containers and a bunch of SWAG. Merry Christmas, all!
  12. Great idea, and one that I've frequently thought to myself. I support this improvement!
