  1. How are everyone's racers doing?

It's a little less than two months till the end of this race, my first race, and I visited my racers' pages today to see how they're doing. More accurately, I saw how they AREN'T doing.

    Here's the results:

Racer #1 : Picked up by a geocacher in late May 2010. The cache logged the coin, but not the cache he/she grabbed it from.

Racer #2 : Placed in it's first geocache 8 days after the race start, and disappeared!

Racer #3 : Place in a geocoin worm hole...I mean, TB Hotel, in August 2010 and a note written in September 2010 stated is was not there. I should probably mark it missing.

Racer #4 : Alive and well in France!

Racer #5 : Picked up in July 2010 with the note "I will make sure to help the coin win the race for 2010-2011!" I think my coin went to the same place as these good intentions?

Racer #6 : Placed in a cache in Portugal, which was disabled, along with my coin. The cache has since been replaced, but my coin never resurfaced.

So five out of six coins haven't been heard from since September 2010, which means they were only active for the first third of the race duration.

I AM happy to have one racer still going, and it is going pretty well in the mileage category! This is a bit disheartening for trackables and for geocaching in general, in my opinion. And yes, I was fully aware that there was a good chance I would never see these coins again before I entered the race, and I did not activate any coins in this race that I wasn't prepared to lose. However, it seems as though lately we can change the phrase from "you might not see them again" to "you will not see them again." Maybe I should find that thread with geocoin success stories?!

It's helpful that my sister is organizing this, b/c it means that my package will go out on time! My package is traveling overseas, so I hope everything arrives safely!

  3. Mission Email Sent - 10/30/09

    Mission Name Received - 11/1/2009

    Mission Sent - 12/14/2009

    Mission Received - 12/9/2009

Sorry for the delay in updating my status - I had no idea I was even late saying I'd received my mission name! Well, better late than never, right?

Thank you very much to Delilah Blue, my secret santa this year, for putting together a wonderfully thoughtful package! It was a nice surprise to come home to last week, and I am really enjoying the chocolate goodies. And my coin: a Blarney Coin pathtag transporter! I am partial to all things Celtic, and so this coin was a perfect choice.

Thanks to Dave for organizing, and I hope everyone has a very, Merry Christmas this year! Happy caching in 2009!

  4. Finally getting a chance to share Mission #2 with you all - thank you anne.and.edi for managing to find a coin I've been searching for! And the other two coins are fun and appropriate surprises!

One of my cats, Izzy, was enjoying my mission as much as I was:

This has been a fun mission - thanks for hosting, opalsns! I now have the coin for this mission in my possession. Just waiting for the next recipient to receive the mission...hopefully before turkey day!

  5. I received mission 2 earlier this week and have been waiting on my sister (PennyandKona) to help me figure out what to do since I am still a peon in this game. =) Thank you very much, Anne.and.Eli for the coins and the goodies in the box (pictures to follow later this evening). I have chosen my card and the next recipient for this mission which I will me sending off within the next day or two. Thanks again for this mission! Fun, fun, fun!

  6. BUMP! I am still looking for a Nature's Night and Day geocoin in Satin Nickel finish.

Is there anyone out there who has one for trade? I have a Claddagh geocoin in blue enamel with silver finish. I think these are getting hard to find...

    Thanks!

Hi, all! I am hoping to trade for a Nature's Night and Day geocoin, preferably in the Satin Nickel finish.

I have to offer a Claddagh coin in blue/silver finish.

  8. The Pink List.....

    .....

Colour change for this post - pink is not a good option, after all.

    Well done to you all.

I don't think my name should have been on this list. I didn't send my out-going mission until 18 November (my post was #578), and I guess this update came two days before?

As of today, I have not received my mission, but I see from the thread that some people are still mailing theirs. I just didn't want to be on the "completed" list just yet. I do know that my outgoing mission has been received - my recipient has lots of patience and is waiting till 25 December!

Pink means you have sent the mission, and the recipient "verifies" that by posting a received post.

It's about your side of the mission being actioned.

Now.... whoever is mailing one to you, will not be on the pink list...

But I've decided not to post the updated lists yet, as many are mailing out now.....

Got it now - sorry to have been so dense! At the time, I should not have been there, but at this very moment in time I am definitely in the pink. Thank you for clarifying!

  9. The Pink List.....

Due to the mail going much quicker than expected (Christmas mailing for economy rates closed here last week - but delivery is still fast!), some lucky ones have received their missions.....

Those who missions have been sent and received by the recipient are.....

    KernowCachers - Child swap mission

    A Mitt - Pet

    sweetlife - Pet

    Barontoo

    Chur 1

    Echo Echo

    hollora

    KernowCachers Jan

    kewfriend

    PassingWind 2

    sweetlife

THANK YOU FOR VISITING OUR GREAT STATE (AND OUR CACHE) OH GEO SASQUATCH!!! WE LOVE YA!!!!

PS - Congratulations to all the other finders too!!! oh happy day!!!!

This is amazingly fresh evidence of Sasquatch, and I know the people at Sasquatch Research Initiative would be interested to see this. The fur samples may yield some good DNA evidence. And the face that Sasquatch has his own geocoins indicates a much higher level of intelligence than previously thought.

Congratulations on your tireless efforts to find this elusive mammal - and his coin!

I'm just now getting around to posting the picture of my Halloween Mission, but this arrived well in advance of Halloween and I've been enjoying it ever since! The person who sent me my mission really did his homework, because I received a "Nurses Have Heart" geocoin. As a nurse, I really appreciate receiving this one, especially since my sister told me they are not available for sale anymore. Thank you for your thoughtfulness and your creativity - it is all appreciated!
